    YES! Bacon in the oven is a lifesaver!!!! I used to be an ag teacher - each winter I would hold a HUGE community benefit breakfast where HUNDREDS would come - farmers, local factory workers, family & community members, etc and we'd make & serve the 3rd & 4th graders breakfast as well. :) Anyhow, one of my students mom would help me each year and she said hey, let's do the bacon in the oven - say what?!?!? With hundreds of lbs of bacon to cook I was all in, lol! Needless to say all you have to do is lay parchment paper on cookie sheets and bake away!!!! Just turn the oven to a high temp (400ish) and keep your eye on it - it comes out fabulous every time and no more grease pops!!! Hope this helps and works for you, just remember to keep your eye on it, it will turn fast once it gets goin! Ps: I am SO GLAD to see you back to videos, i LOVE your videos, I get so excited when I see a new one posted! 💗💗💗

    I'm a young mumma (22) to a 3 year old little boy named Noah - I just wanted to let you know that I find so much inspiration in you from the way you hold yourself to raising your kids to your role as teacher mother and wife and your faith in The Lord you are truly very encouraging an I'm so grateful you have chosen to share your trials and tribulations as you walk the journey of life on earth.
    So aside from the praise i did wanna mention yes cook bacon in the oven!! Not only dose it free up the stove for beans eggs fried tomatoes and so on it actually taste so much better !
    And for questions for Tuesday porch chats, I'd really enjoy a budget update how you budget per week/ how you know what bills come out of what pay and also how you save for each of your kids.
    Loads of love from your friend in Australia xx

    Bacon in the oven is wonderful. With such a big family, I'm not sure how much you intend to cook at one time, but if you have more than one rack to put in your oven, you can definitely bake two trays at once. That's how all of the big restaurants cook their massive amounts. My family learned it from a friend who worked in them his whole life, and now we never make it any other way. Much less messy, you can do other things while it's baking, it's great. I do recommend lining your pans with tin foil, though. Just because grease isn't splattering anywhere doesn't mean you aren't going to end up with a lot of it!
    Also, baked omelettes are great for feeding lots of people at once. My family reserved them for leftover day, and you just take any leftover vegetables and/or meats you have, dice them up, throw them into a big baking dish, cover it all with eggs (and cheese, if you want, though in my family cheese was a personal preference, so we always left it as an optional topping), and they are wonderful. You can top them with salsa, sour cream, ketchup if the kids are into that, and it's a big breakfast that doesn't take a whole lot of effort. Or lunch. Or dinner. >.>

    We cook bacon on a cookie sheet at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes I get thick bacon so thin may need to be less time but it comes out crispy we love it. We love bacon here.

      I line the cookie sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup. Sometimes I put it on a rack so it drains the fat as it cooks.

  • @rmstonge
    @rmstonge 8 лет назад

    For the bacon, lay them flat on cookie sheets (with lips/sides), a little overlap is fine on the slices. Put them into a very hot oven (like 400-425) for about 20 minutes. Drain half way through for crispier bacon.
    If you have a baking rack that fits inside your cookie sheet, you can drain the bacon while it cooks by putting the bacon on the baking rack. The fat will drain through the rack and into the cookie sheet.

    I have been cooking my bacon in the oven for several years now - it is so much easier and less messy, too! I line a baking sheet with foil, then put a cooling rack on top. I heat the oven to 350 degrees, lay the bacon on top of the rack, and just let it go. I start at 25 minutes and give it a check - I really just keep an eye on it until it's done. Sometimes I will flip the bacon once if it's particularly thick, but otherwise you don't even need to do that! If I am doing multiple baking sheets, I will make sure to move them around once or twice during the cooking process so that everything gets equal heat. I let the baking sheets cool off completely and the grease hardens up - then you just fold up the foil and toss it. So easy!

    I also raised seven children and always baked my bacon. For that three pound pkg, you'll need to spread it out on a couple of large baking sheets lined with parchment. Bake at 375-400 until it reaches the doneness you prefer. Probably 20 minutes or so. Give it a stir with a pair of tong every so often. I never worried about it all laying nice and flat on the sheets, and mine is usually curled up. Flat bacon is for families with one or two kids. lol

    300 (or 350 if you're impatient) in the oven for 20 minutes then flip and 20 more minutes for crispy bacon. If you plan to reheat in the pan, undercook it by about 5 minutes. You can freeze it and it works great. I DON'T recommend putting it on papertowels because that excess fat helps it reheat good in the pan or even the microwave.

  • @TheCJtheCregg
    @TheCJtheCregg 8 лет назад

    My family has always cooked bacon in the oven and it works really well. We do it on the grill (broil) setting and still do multiple pans - you just have to swap the pans around on the shelves a few times and flip the bacon over once or twice. Very easy and a lot more of the grease drains into the groves on the cookie sheets, so you're not eating quite as much fat! We also used to make it this way in big commercial ovens at a ski club I belonged to years ago, and that was for 30-40 people at once! Definitely the way to cook bacon for a crowd!

    We raise our own pigs and I do my bacon in the oven. The best way I have found is to line cookie sheets with tin foil (for easy clean up), then set cooling racks on them and place bacon on racks.........400 degree oven for 20 minutes (keep cooking until they are as crispy that you like). Throw cooling racks in dishwasher....I love this method :)

    I only cook one lb of bacon at a time, but I always bake it. It's so much easier! Takes about half an hour on 350 degrees to get it extra crisp like my family likes. I just lay it out on cookie sheets and don't over lap to help it cook evenly and crisp. I would definitely recommend it!

    Absolutely so thrilled to have you back on regular basis on RUclips. You have inspired me in so many ways… I am actually launching my own blog by the end of May. I am a mother of two boys and one is adopted with several special needs and My husband has epilepsy. My life is a little different than most so I felt that there's probably others out there that could benefit from some of the things that I live with daily. I also write for a blog for my job where I work at a Christian conference center on every day daily devotions for women and I will also be posting these on my own. Thank you again for all you do and thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us as well!

    A little hint for the pepperoni...you can pick up that package and take it to the deli counter and they will slice it free of charge. They will bag it just like the deli meats. They just take the UPC off the orginal package and tape it to the bag. So just a coyple extra mintues of your time for perfectly even slices and you still get the better deal!

    For about 10 years I worked in hotel kitchens, that how it is always done when cooking bacon. If you don't have them already I would suggest you buying 1/2 size sheet pans. You can even buy them at Sam's Club, If you don't put the parchment paper on the pans first , then spray the pans first, before you lay the bacon on the pans. This is the only way I make bacon at home.

    It's just me and my daughter and I bake our bacon in the oven too....I have had it stick to the pan if the bacon is thin but it is so much easier to cook in the oven than on the stove... I usually bake it at 350 for 6 minutes, then check and flip, then 6 minutes and check, then if it needs more time I check it every minute or so, that way it doesn't burn. it's way less mess than having it splatter on the stove and I can cook more at one time.

    My friends--for those of us who (try) to make our own laundry soap, I have found a recipe that sounds much easier. Usually I use the recipe that requires grated soap which I find time consuming and don't like something I use for food touching my laundry soap (I'm probably worrying too much, but I find that it does bother me!). I found this recipe on pinterest that I really want to try. It uses castille soap, which I have used for other things and I love it. I'm thinking I'll add some oxiclean to this mixture and it will be great. Either way--it is sure to be a lot FASTER to whip up. The recipe is:
    3 tablespoons of borax
    3 tablespoons of Washing Soda
    2 tablespoons of Bronner's castile soap
    Pour ingredients into 1 gallon container with 4 cups of hot water. Swirl together. Let it cool. Then fill with cold water. Enjoy!

    I have been baking bacon in the oven for years, the cleanest way to cook it by far! I love that you can also flavor it a bit by sprinkling on spices; for heat I'll add chili or cayenne and if we are having it with pancakes and syrup I might sprinkle a bit of brown sugar over it too.

    I love cooking bacon in the oven, it saves me from cleaning up the grease on the stove, plus you don't have to stay near the stove the whole time. If your worried about the fat you can put a grated tray on top of your pan so the grease dips and doesn't stay on your bacon.

    Line a baking sheet with foil; lay bacon side by side, bake on 400 - 425 until bacon is crispy. Check it from time to time so you do burn it. It shouldn't take more than 20-30 minutes. A big time saver and less greasy mess.

      Line the pan with foil and lay the bacon in a single layer, put it in a cold oven and set the oven to 400 then let it go for about 20 minutes. :)
      Good stuff!

    YAY! So happy to hear that you are going to try to vlog more! :) You are such an encouragement and I agree with you that it seems that the Lord's grace & blessing is on you during this season for this--because you have a great ministry of encouragement to mamas! And the world needs more of that! :) And I think part of the beauty of your encouragement is that you share things like getting noodles stuck in your drain pipe! I do cook bacon in the oven sometimes. I ususally use my broiler pan--I just don't like cleaning it afterward! But I guess cleaning up after bacon is the name of the game! Blessings on you! Glad your foot is better! I had a great Sharp Shopper haul this week, too! (Lancaster Co. PA)--woo hoo! I even took a photo and sent it to my sis in NC because I was so excited!

    Cooking bacon in the oven is so much easier!! You don't have to keep such a vigilant eye on it, plus it is less messy and clean up is easier!

    hey just a heads up to super easy to cook the bacon in the oven I cook it at 400 for about 25-35 mins depends if it's thick cut and also how done you like it. You just basicly get a cookie sheet and lay foil down and lay in down and cook I use a grated pan

    Hi..I just found ur channel a few days ago but ive binge watched over half of your videos..lol I loooove that ur a Christian and that you talk about it openly on your channel. Your video on scriptures for moms was such a blessing to me. Thank you for that...!! I actually want to comment on doing bacon in the oven..Ive got 6 people in my family and when we do BLT's its a lifesaver! You dont have to stand over the hot pan babysitting every piece of bacon. Each piece lies flat and its just so much easier. I recommend trying it at least once. :o)

    Hi Jamerrill, did you know you can make eggs for sausage MC muffins in the microwave no mess.. all you have to do is crack one or two eggs in a coffee cup, just whisk it with a fork, and throw it in the microwave for a min or so till it firms up, and no liquid in it.. then just tip it out, you can toast English muffins in the toaster, then put the egg from the microwave on it and pre cooked round sausages on it, then put the top on them and you have MC muffins from MC Donald's, you can even add cheese.. you can do this in balk, just put a bunch of coffee mugs in the microwave with the eggs, toast your muffins, and heat your sauge in the microwave a head of time, then just put it on the table have you kids make they own. that all your kids can eat at once no mess for you except for the cups, and a plate to heat sausage on it.. Try it once with for your self or your husband, he can take MC muffins to school with him... Thanks Jamerrill.. Always love your videos, and looks like you got a new color of gloss on your lips..lol..
