Seems like a contradiction to what was said in this video (and it is). I've yet to find a religion or philosophy without holes in it, so I take out the best and leave the rest from them, assembling my own puzzle of Truth. Since no philosophy or religion is complete, one should strive to find the 'keys' hidden in all of them, while discarding those 'anti-keys' in them which are the pitfalls designed to take one off course. "Yin and Yang", for instance, isn't true for all things. If anti-matter and matter were equal, physics says nothing would exist. If Good and Evil were equal, we would see as much of both in reality, yet we don't. Evil is simply a shadow of Good, just as darkness is just a shadow of light, but they are in no way "equal'.

@@platonicforms562 I absolutely agree that no religion, philosophy, or any political beliefs are one hundred percent correct. I personally think for one to truly find happiness or spiritual peace is to be open to anything the universe or god offers while also being smart and diligent in your decisions. There's a reason why we have an ego that allows us to make distinctions, separations, and choices to control chaos. The ego serves us for survival here in the material world but not for what may come after death. The natural forces of life being yin and yang are unequal but serve a significant purpose to replenish and balance the universal spirit.

This is a very personal interpretation and presentation of the teachings of Lao Tzu. The only words we have from the old master are contained in the Tao Te Ching. Whilst I enjoyed your presentation it did feel a bit as if you were superimposing some of your own ideas onto the teachings as found in the Tao Te Ching itself. For example nowhere does Lao Tzu promulgate veganism or vegetarianism yet you somehow extrapolate such a teaching from him. A nice introduction to Taoist thought but I strongly recommend people check out the wisdom of the Tao De Ching for themselves.

Wow, awesome! This is one of the best talks about spirituality I've heard in quite some time. Yes, I will check out your channel! I too have been exploring the spiritual path for a couple of decades now. I am 72 and find it extremely difficult to share ideas with people about this subject. Most people are just not interested; they just want to keep pushing towards financial success, laden with stress and anxiety. But above all, they are determined to just follow the religious path that they were brought up in and feel comfortable with.
*I wrote a book 16 years ago on the subject of spirituality* and have a chapter on Taoism in it. Link below. I wrote in it that the practice of Yoga is to attain a "Body like butter, and Mind like water." :) Our bodies tend to be rigid and lack flow. No wonder we get degenerative arthritis and various other diseases. Yoga will help that but I've been to many yoga classes and have been awfully dismayed at the focus on attaining the best posture no matter what effort it takes. Whereas the true purpose of Yoga is to relax deeper and deeper into various poses, each of which allow the energy to flow differently. For this, I have combined Chinese Chi Kung and Indian Yoga into my own practice. Yoga should help relax the mind, let it dissolve into a water like state. In a state of deep relaxation, I've seen my body choose to go into poses that no one had taught me before. It is called Spontaneous Yoga, a revelation from Yogi Amrit Desai who founded Kripalu Yoga, America's largest Yoga Ashram (means retreat; pronounced Aash-rum). He is no longer there; had to leave because of a scandal where he allegedly became intimately involved with some of his students. He has an Ashram in Florida. When he was younger, some students would see light radiating from his body while he was in a state of spontaneous yoga. Unfortunately, as the years went by, I think, he became more human than divine. This is the trouble with Gurus; as soon as they reveal that they are human, sometimes all too human, people get disillusioned. So the only Guru we must follow is our own Inner/Greater Mind. Run away from anyone who claims to be a Guru or even worse, a "Master." Though, most often, it is the *students* who start using the title Guru and not the teacher him/her-self.
This is a link to the book I wrote. I am not trying to promote it; indeed I have withdrawn it from all e-tailers except the publisher, so I can re-write it with lots more material. www.authorhouse.com/en/bookstore/bookdetails/239578-A-Way-Beyond-Religion

There is no unity without living these principles.
This is the work that is necessary for us to evolve as beings on one planet. Let's make a historic shift all the way toward our better selves. Don't let loud ignorant voices on all levels of society drown out truth, beauty and care for all. Not in a political way, not in a "proud" way, just because it is right, just, and helpful for us all. Bless us all.

Yes its hard to be honest to with others without risking them twisting the truth of what you admit to. However, you must trust in the energy of yourself and of the Universe and disregard any worries of what they might think.......I have been practicing telling the truth and living with exactly what is in here now for around 10 years and it makes me so much happier, healthier and more loving toward others and self. Its kinda........well......Fun really because I discovered people dont care because they are busy getting themselves together instead.

what he says at 13:26 is something we all need to meditate on/contemplate, this is very very true
Weve reached a point where we have the technology and leisure time available to really make the Earth a good place to live for everyone, yet despite our technological leaps there is a mental health crisis and horrible global inequality
We need to snap out of it

Thank you for mentioning the most important part of being a true higher soul is to not harm other living beings! I haven't seen almost in any spiritual videos talking about this sin. We literally fund with our money to those industries who are the very own government who destroy our mother nature and kill our fellow members of this earth. We murder literally every year 65 billion land animals and 3 trillion ocean animals just for our sensory pleasure. Not to mention about the immense pain and exploitation we cause to the planet and eco system because of this act. Eating dead corpses which they truly are, are LOW vibrational frequencies. We cannot go up to higher consciousness when we transform our bodies in all these low frequencies which blocks us to evolve and enlighten us.
If you need support for not being able to do it independently, try out this page which offers free support, for a better world and kinder community. And another suggestion, try as much as possible to re-educate yourself and research and inform by your self in order to find your truth.

Now, I would only point out my two primary issues with not eating meat: 1.) The human body *is* an animal. We absorb things like iron, and especially protein, better from other animals than from plants. 2.) For whatever reason, probably from eating meat from so many generations, eating red meat activates a primal happiness in us.
These two things must be reconciled first. Then and only then will the future you envision come to pass. Solve that first problem, and the second will come naturally

honest question.... what if my most honest way of living & the frequency resonant with my highest truth is not gentle, but instead passionate & lively? i have no trouble being kind to all people, and presenting my inner self completely honestly at all times, but it very rarely comes across “gentle” & very frequently is interpreted as aggressive & sometimes even abrasive. people in my life & also strangers always thank me for being so honest & “real”, but many of them are also scared away when confronted with this type of raw energy. are there ways to balance this & become more gentle? should i even try to become more “gentle” if gentleness is not my natural, honest vibrational state?

Andrea Yaltur, listen to yourself and your heart, not to Taoism philosophy or any other religious or belief system. People are who they are. We do the best we can all the time. If we knew better we would do better, right? Who wants to suck at life? We are all doing the best we know at all times! It is ok to be exactly the way you are. I used to be considered very blunt/aggressive by my family and some other friends. As I got older I tried to be more gentle and sweet to please others, and also to play the “good wife” role for my husband. The result was me losing my identity, and allowing others to invade my boundaries, all in the name of love and compassion 🙂. I believe anger and aggression serve a purpose. All emotions do. Keep being your passionate and lively self if that makes you happy! 😉🌸

In reading the Tao te Ching, I do not get the impression that Lao Tzu was a total pacifist. I get the idea instead that he advocated being ready for a fight at all times, but not displaying such readiness, and certainly never starting a fight.
That way, if someone else starts a fight with you, you have the resources to finish it. And if a nation rises up against another nation, the ruler of the attacked nation will have sufficient means to defend himself.

Conclusion: all four virtues are dangerous for one's survival. Don't apply the blindly. Always study your surroundings, people in it, your position in it before applying any of the virtue. These virtues are in favor of rulers who want to dominate or control people to preserve its rule and wealth.

Would you like to know what the word of God teaches about the spirituality of man?
Before the new birth, being regenerated by the Spirit of God through Jesus Christ, all are "dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air" (Ephesians 2:1-2).
If you haven't received the grace of God in Jesus Christ you are spiritually dead, and are "by nature children of wrath" (v3). But God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
Jesus said "you must be born again" (John 3:7).

Who’s the father ? Who’s name do we pray to be sanctified ? You said ; God loved the world so much that he gave his only begotten son ..... if Jesus is the Son who’s the Father ?

Some good advice but also some very dangerous advice mixed in there. I hope people interested in daoism take the time and research on their own instead of taking every advice given here at face value.

Taoism works only in Ancient China where little villages live within the sound of a barking dog to the next little village...peaceful co-existence in a bamboo grove. Our world needs something entirely different. I don't know what.

I have a garden I killed six baby rabbits today. Their neotenous features did not save them. I took no joy and killing them. Pragmatism is my form of spirituality. Their bodies will be recycled into the universe... one day my life will be taken in a natural or arbitrary way and the universe will consume me same as these Dead Rabbits.🤗
