THE FIRST AMENDMENT PROHIBITS SUCH LAWS FROM EVEN EXISTING!
They are fighting it. Our stacked Supreme Court has already turned aside two cases allowing the law as written to continue. As written it is enforced by private citizens taking private citizens court. Already challenges have begun to work through the courts, with both sides wanting to overturn this law; hardly the scenario lawmakers desired.
The style of enforcement, if upheld, will be a nightmare for everyone.

Providing healthcare and food will help prevent abortion, providing contraception will help prevent abortion, providing comprehensive sex education will help prevent abortion. Everyone wants to minimize abortion, no one more than the parents forced to that decision. When they cannot afford another mouth to feed and must choose between a new life and those they already have. Or find their little one has a birth defect caused by nutritional deficiency in first few weeks of development. Or an ectopic pregnancy that will not carry to term but will kill the mother if she tries.

What about humanity of intimidating pregnant women and hunting people who hunt them with bounties? There's none, as always. A fetus is not a human yet. It has no nerve system, doesn't even resemble a human and if you consider that soul originally meant "breath", as in first breath, not even a soul. Yet, it's considered to be more valuable than the one who bears it. Even when science wasn't there, people didn't think of fetuses or embryos as humans. Now, science says it's not worth thinking of it like that, yet now it's a women's rights issue, so suddenly republicans want to attack that. Just like with trans youth healthcare being considered abuse or masks being considered abuse and a violation of rights, republicans suddenly drop their "small government" talk, as they usually do. At least they are consistent with hearing what scientists say and deciding to believe into the exact opposite.
Also, this new trend of republicans trying to twist around the existing laws to push their agendas is really concerning. I guess that's easy to do if your president has packed the supreme court.

The life to right is one of the most fundamental civil liberties and the absolute minimum role that government should be playing.

I live in Texas, but if I was a woman I don't think I would live here anymore. I probably wouldn't live in any other rightwing state that wanted to restrict me like what's going on now.
Personally,
1) I'm a male from Central Texas who is pro-choice, but I feel that it's ultimately a women's right/decision to take birth control & that Roe V. Wade should remain in effect as it currently is.
2) When it comes to the 1st & 2nd trimester, I don't agree with the argument that the baby is truly alive even with a heartbeat since it also lacks a brain, its lungs, & an immune system, which are needed to keep it alive (& something like this happened to a family member whom I won't mention by name).
3) I was born & raised Christian (specifically Baptist), & in The Bible there is a story in the Book of Numbers where a man believes his wife committed adultery, so he asked God for help & he was told by God to give his wife an elixir that would've aborted the child if it wasn't his, so this story proves that The Bible isn't against abortions.
4) I believe that once a baby is born it should have affordable medical care/coverage for its entire life since I'm pro-life in that regard & not just pro-birth of the baby.
5) I don't believe male politicians should be able to create laws regulating what women can or can't do with their own bodies when that sets a precedent for female politicians to create laws regulating what men can do to theirs.
My sister in law had a baby the moved, had a heartbeat and was born without a brain.

The rebuttal to the argument that 'it's private citizens enforcing the law, not the government' should be, 'the Constitution makes no mention of who *enforces* the laws, only who *makes* the laws, and only the government can make a bill law. Therefore, it is unconstitutional.'
Or that private citizens who enforce this law are acting as agents of the state. The government can't permit citizens to act as posse elements and then disavow the actions taken by the posse on behalf of the state.
They tried WORSE than this in 1989 in Louisiana, when I first moved here. There's not a lot about the bill that remains in print (though you can read about it on Guttmacher), but you would have been charged with murder if you came back to Louisiana after an abortion. The bill also made condoms illegal. That part is very difficult to find in print today, but I swear it was in there. I wasn't fully Pro-choice (Abortion on demand) until this law. I felt that there was nothing wrong with SOME reasonable regulation (and it is already over-regulated). We have gun laws that don't overreach, but in that jumble of years, lawmakers proved over and over that they CAN'T regulate abortion without going overboard. I heard/saw yesterday there's also a state(I forgot which one) who is trying to do this with the Taxes state law that states Trans-care for kids is Child abuse. But they added provisions that would jail the parents if they plan to MOVE OUT OF STATE to be able to get that care, so not just when they try and get the care out of state but don't move there (like this abortion example) but just if they even DARE to upend their lives and move away to be able to give their child the best chance in life.... 😢

It’s not “murder.” Even the Bible did not consider a fetus to be a baby. Not only does the Bible not ban abortion, it provides directions on how to perform an abortion using herbs. The Bible considers “first breath” to be the point at which a baby has the rights of a human being. But because we are not barbarians and have science, which shows us that the fetus gains sentience and feels pain starting at the third trimester, abortion during the 3rd trimester is illegal; before that point, the fetus is not viable to survive on it’s own outside the womb and cannot experience pain. Therefore it cannot have the same rights as a human being.
That’s the irony, evangelical arguments about abortion are not biblically based; they’re modern conceptions of what constitutes life that would not exist without science; the same science which doesn’t support their ideas that a non-viable fetus deserves to be given full rights as a human. It’s a religiously based argument that isn’t really based on religion. It’s a fiction that’s been created for political reasons.
One of the more reprehensible off shoots of this debate it that women are now being jailed for having miscarriages; even when it cannot be shown they did anything to cause the miscarriage. It is truly a dark, authoritarian road that evangelicals are taking us down. They want Gilead.

This legislation, if allowed, would certainly set that precedent. Republicans never think any further than next quarters returns, they carry that into their thinking when it comes to their legislation as well.

This is similar to the trans therapies being legislated against in Idaho and making it a felony to go out of state for those therapies. I think fellow women need to protect themselves by using our second amendment rights. I’m sick of these people infringing on our lives when they have no business having a say whatsoever. In sweden girls of any age can go to a l clinic for get an abortion or just a consultation or counseling, and it’s free of charge and parents don’t have to know or give consent. It works great. And the thing is that does not lead to abuse of the system. Our abortion rates are marginally lower than the US and marginally higher than Australia. Why hasn’t America come up with a system like that?

Texas can not charge a person with a crime for doing something that happened inside another State. Texas jurisdiction ends at their State border. What happens if a person from Texas leaves the State on vacation and gambles in a way that is forbidden inside the Texas, but not in the host State where it occurred. The person wins a legal bet and receives payment for this legal act in the host State. Does Texas have the right to arrest and charge the person with a crime ? Answer: NO. The Federal Court of Appeals would strike down Texas’ claim because it would violate another State’s right to control what goes on inside it’s borders. Texas should also consider that if this weird law becomes excepted, the California laws will apply against Texas citizens and progressives would be able to dictate how Texans lead their lives 😁 (Delicious)

In Texas, you can sue in any county and the defendant has to appear and defend themselves or lose by default. And there is no provision for reimbursing costs in the event of lawsuits without merit. So I’m thinking of suing the crap out of a few people I don’t like just for fun.

Does that Texas law define "help"? Because if it doesn't, it should be immediately struct down for being excessively vague and overreaching. Did the road worker who repaired the stretch of road last week "help" a person drive on that stretch of road? How far back do you have to go before the math changes?
