The Guys are just having fun exchanging different beats and licks bouncing great sound off each other. Voila! A masterpiece may be born, maybe not, but it’s rock and roll in the studio. ❤rare gems!
I’m a huge Stones fans but a lot of their outtakes are throw-aways or even junk. But it doesn’t matter because they know what’s good enough to release.
In 1987 a friend gave me a copy of a copy of a cassette that I listened to for years. I thought the entire Trident Demo’s could have been Exile part II. In those pre-internet days I thought it was Exile-ish but it turned out to be from 1969. Man…what a band/year. Trident Demos - 1969 A1 Travelin' Man 5:59 A2 Instrumental 3:26 A3 Jiving Sister Fanny 3:20 A4 Stuck Out All Alone 3:16 A5 Instrumental 2:46 A6 Going Down 2:58 B1 Red Blood Wine 5:18 B2 Instrumental 4:11 B3 Downtown Lucy 3:48 B4 Save Me 3:50 B5 Instrumental 5:27 C1 Family 3:43 C2 Two Train Blues 9:55 C3 Instrumental 4:23 C4 Walking Thru The Sleepy City 2:46 D1 See I Love You 3:51 D2 Instrumental 3:41 D3 Memo From Turner 2:39 D4 I Don't Know Why 2:05 D5 Too Many Cooks 3:42 D6 Family
Hey Barry, you know the script behind Honky Tonk women; M and K wrote it as a Jim Reeves sort of thing, hence Country Honk. It was Taylor who saw it another way, and that's the classic we all know now....cheers
Thanks for posting. Wow, great to hear something from the Stones that I didn't even know was out there. Long time Stones fan. In fact, first 45 record I ever bought with my own money was in '65 when the Stones released "Satisfaction". I was 15 then. So much I could say, don't even know where to start, except to repeat the ultimate truth: "The Greatest Rock n Roll Band in the World". As someone else wrote, feel that the Mick Taylor era may have been their peak but don't believe it was necessarily because Mick Taylor was in the band. I would say their playing and songwriting was at its best and most consistent then, producing the Big Three: Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street. There are albums before and after that have glimpses of their genius but those three stand above the others.
Love these rare finds! My favorites that really show their real talent!! They can cover a song and make it their own usually better than the originals or at least in my opinion! Sorry if I’ve made anyone mad!!
In the early sixties, God came down (as he tends to do on and again) and he laid down the law for what rock&roll was going to be ...... and this band was anointed the prime sample.
I'm a great MT fan - but for the groove - that they had already before him. Just listen to the first four albums - the groove is the thing they noticed, appreciated and practiced right from the beginning. As I see (hear) it - the groove is the special strength and focus of KR. What MT brought into the soup was the smooth (rough when required) and innovative melodic leads.
Rare pic of Mick Taylor actually SMILING 😊

The thing about the Stones is their outtakes are better than most bands hits . Simply the best .
...by far
@@marcomazzu75 absolutely 💯
Agree 100%
For sure. I got a great outtakes cd released in England only from the 80's. Love it

I have the orginal vinyl album with a zipper. I can't believe I've never heard or heard of this song. It's superb!
True, the outtakes where out of this world back then, in the recording studio.
Wow - would love it if this had gone on. Great groove

Thanks much! Had this on a bootleg CD for years but it deteriorated and stopped working. Great to hear it again.
real good😛
Never heard this before but I love it
Like Jivin' Sister Fanny, it's a Taylor tune, no chance Keef was going to release it....damn shame
Mick Taylor makes this song
Lovin this!
Hell yeah
Idle thought, any of you folks checked out the original acoustic version of All Down the Line; terrific......
Guitars', guitar, but it's gotta be ; Mick Taylor, yeah , yeah , yeah
In the early sixties, God came down (as he tends to do on and again) and he laid down the law for what rock&roll was going to be ...... and this band was anointed the prime sample.
Love the steal at 4:49!
I hear a little bit of the Midnight Rambler chords in certain spots....
Yep
Is Mick Taylor is king The Rolling Stones were at their peak with Mick Taylor This is SS427
TRES Cool
I don’t know- just a guess. Just like Criss Cross Man, Mick Taylor was due a writing credit, so rather than share the wealth, don’t release it.
Mick Taylor taught the Rolling Stones how to play rock and roll. He taught them the groove.

And it’s not even on an album 😂
