I just bought a case 21f compact loader for my dairy a few months ago. It replaced 3 machines on the farm. Compact loaders are very versatile! 10 out of 10 would recommend.
Actually these machines are made in the Netherlands 🇳🇱. The bucket is too wide for those pens I guess. And if you enter your barn backwards, Ur able to get to that other corner much better. These wheelloaders beat any skid steer in means of comfort, and visibility. Skid steers are quite rare here in nl. Almost every farm has a kind of this wheel loader though
the reach of the small one is the same as with a skid steer but it is way bigger, don't see how this would every be worth it. telescoping can be handy but the reach is still quite limited
@@rigdigwusit’s just like anything, you have to have a combination of equipment to do any job, both Skidsteers and these units have their sweet spot so to say in what they do well
Made right here in my small town of OISTERWIJK, the Netherlands! Edit: Kubota has recently struck a deal with them actually, Tobroco GIANT will build all these mini-loaders under the KUBOTA brand too!
I love these machines! Made and used almost everywhere in The Netherlands! I get what you said, I have been stuck to the wall myself couple of times, but when you get the hang of it, you’ll learn the machine better. Becareful with heavy loads, you could flip if you turn too fast
I can see how over time, you would become very efficient. But the ideal situation would be to have both the skid steer and the articulated machine. The problem you mentioned, getting pinned against a wall, put your bucket down , raise your front tires off the ground and articulate away from the wall.
Impressive machines, Eric. I can see lots of positives, but when many of your feed and cleanup systems center around the maneuvering of a skid steer it’s hard to change.
These machines are popular here in Scandinavia like Skid steer are at your place. But they just keep getting bigger and bigger and works well if you have all new buildings. We have machines from Avant and Multione that are around 1 meter wide and 2 meters long and lift atleast 800 Kg
I ran wheel loader for 10+ years. I work for Horst Excavating out of Lancaster. If you end up buying one I would love to give you some tips. You do really well for not running one! Don’t comment much but love you vids and I’m local.
It’s from my HOMETOWN OISTERWIJK NETHERLANDS amazing machines!!😊 Edit: Kubota has recently struck a deal with them actually, Tobroco GIANT will build all these mini-loaders under the KUBOTA brand too!
Having dealer support through Kubota dealers would be a huge plus. European brands like JCB are often let down here in the US because of small dealer networks and lack of parts availability.
I've got a Schaffer mini wheel loader similar size as that giant 2700. id never go back to a skid steer now. on occasion I get myself into a corner and the articulation makes it difficult to get out but all around I love these mini size/class of machines.
I watched a guy fix the pivot pin on one of these...definitely make sure that pin is greased...it was a nightmare to split that machine and fix if/when the bushings wear out due to lack of maintenance. So cool to see new equipment being tested/used...I hope you enjoy the machines...would definitely be a great addition to your dairy farm! Keep em coming!!!!
For driving a new machine you did a great job. With time i am sure you would be zipping around as nimble as the skid steer. Your review was really informative and thorough. Thanks for a great video Eric.
Basically a skid loader is like a very big and agile man with a very big shovel. Wheel loaders have their place but they don’t suit every job. Ideally it would be nice to have both.
We use skid loaders for mixing feed and burn through hard surface tires pretty quick...I like how high the wheel loader sits. Thanks for the video nice to see an application that relates to what we would use it for 👍
We have the older "top of the line" V761T (now called G5000) and I reallj like it. Use it for loading/unloading trucks "forklift duty" and utility work. Tried a new Kubota the same size but didn't like it as much. Strongest contender I've tried so far is a Kramer 8085 with four wheel (crab) steering...
Just started binge watching ur channel again today😉. If you get a loader in a tight spot, against a wall or something, put the bucket down till ur front tires r barely off the ground and slightly turn away from the tight area. Should give you enough room to get away from said wall or whatever. Just a little tip👌 Always great videos Eric!
You did a great job of putting both of the two new machines through their paces. And as you pointed out the larger unit with more reach has better visibility for loading the feed mixer. And with the totally enclosed cab, you would certainly be cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter as the operator VS the skid steer. By keeping this unit out of the manure handling duties, it would reduce the risk of cross contamination to your feed storage areas. But after having said all of that positive. I do think you would dearly miss having your skid loader around to do all of the close work in your barns. I just do not think you can beat having a good little skid steer on a dairy farm for handling manure, and clean up in tight quarters. Not sure if some lower costs for wear and tear on your existing skid loader would be enough to offset the cost of the new Giant loader. But your point about the importance of safety for your family certainly has some added value that should be considered as well. This won’t be an easy decision for you and your family. But I also know that it comes down to the dollars. And they have to work out if it is going to be a good investment for your dairy farm. Thanks for a great demonstration video!
I have run both, loader is better for feeding and mixing; while the skid steer is better for small pen cleaning. In an ideal world you would use both machines. As you point out there is less wear and tear with the loader and they are much faster compared to skid steer when handling feed.
If you ever get stuck against a wall you can set the bucket on the ground and push the front wheels off then shimmy it over it that makes sense. We have a 2 ton lift capacity terex which is a lot larger than the Giants but our feed passageways 10ft wide! So tight we needed a special order diet feeder wagon but thats the joys of Ireland 😅
been using skid steers for many years about our farm and it’s a machine u could never do without once u get one, but defo feel u need to have a bigger loader for feeder filling and some heavier jobs about the farm, having the two machines we find neither is over worked and have gotten many years from them both.i’d feel even the bigger of the two demos is still to small for your operation
When you turn in the alley, raise the bucket higher than the gate. You'll be able to turn easier. Then back up straight, put your bucket down and scoop. Get out the same way.
Look into a JCB tella skid. Side door and telescoping boob built into a skid steer. I love them when I demo-ed but it is a bit out of my price range. Trying to find a good used one.
Excellent review and demo! Great to see Dad putting the machines through the evaluation process. Excellent hearing you talk about visibility and kids on the farm. Certainly, they are both impressive machines! Thanks for the video.
Does the dealer offer the larger machine without the telescope. That usually extends the front of the machine around a foot. Also look at a high tip bucket that connects to the auxillary system. You lift the bucket straight up over where you dump and then activate the bucket and it tips over.
On my equipment, I wrapped the hyd hoses, at critical bends, and rubbing points, WITH OVERSIZED CLEAR, BRAIDED HOSE BY SLICING IT, THEN USE ZIP TIES TO SECURE IT. CHEAPER than to change hoses.
I used to operate a slightly bigger kubota version of these. Your assessment of planning turns or getting trapped is spot on. Also didn’t like that the whole load could be thrown off if you turn too quickly or sharply. On the model I operated it was also possible to climb into a running machine and grab the steering wheel and subsequently slam your load into something. Skid loader is much better for your jobs.
Great video, skid steers better option for tight areas. You could cut out mesh sides on kubota and install clear polycarbonate sides for better visibility, this is an option on bobcat r series machines
I could see how those would be fine in most uses. There may be some issues with height in low ceiling barns and maneuverability due to length. I do like your Kubota, I would love to get my Bobcat fixed, just a lot of things to get done and a lot of cost. Good test run and comment on it, thanks. Have a great week!
We have a Bobcat A300 and an A770..just traded the A770 in on a Bobcat TL519...awesome replacement machine. Do'nt know why we waited so long. Its great to have a 19' lift height.
Funny we my wife and I were just down your way for the Rough and Tumble. We were trying to find the the air B and B we were staying at and we drove right past your place. We were driving by and I saw the farm and your new house, for a min she didn't believe me. We ended up staying not 5 min from you r farm. Anyway really enjoy your videos. Thank you.
I work on a dairy farm in Wisconsin and we have both a skidsteer and we also use compact loaders to do the bigger stuff that takes longer with a skidsteer
Great video and yes a bit of a learning curve. i operated Articulate Machines in the mid 1980'to mid 1990's. On Overseas Containers for the Railway. They would lift over 60,000 Pounds. They were great once you spent a few hours Operating them. but like many machines you have the good, bad and the ugly on them all.
Interesting. They would definitely have a use. Mixing feed and cleaning out the bigger sheds it would be great. Also lifting up seed bags where you need a bit of extra height. It seems to have great traction and visibility. In your dry cow farm I wonder would it fit in the low roof shed ? anyway looks like a nice piece of kit
Awesome video Eric and dad. I like the skid steer much better. It looks like you can do much more with it. Maybe a new one would have the features that you would like. Thank you guys
Great video Eric. Just like SaskDutchKid, A dairy on the prairie, Laura Farms, Millennial Farmer and a lot of other channels you tell the real and honest story abour ag and farming. You should be rewarded with much more viewers.
Those both look like nice units and would probably be a welcome addition to any farm. Unfortunately though I don’t think anything else compares to the maneuverability of a skid steer. I guess that is why you see so many skid steer, pay loader combinations.
neat little machines there. if you had a bunch of round or square bale work it would be handy also. Just need everything a bit wider if you were going to use one all the time. thanks for another great video.
See if you can find a drop off bucket. If you like the smaller machine but don’t have the height to get into the spreader, that type of bucket would work great. It also works great for back dragging when the bucket is open.
New is always nice, I think if skid steer could come up with a telescopic bucket without extending the overall length too much but hey I drove trucks what do I know. But I did a haul milk when I drove trucks and I’m familiar with the fragrances
I think you gave a good review on the wheel loaders, especially the bigger one. I could see our Farm run something like that if we had the money for it :-/ The main problem I see is that your farm is build around skid steers, so everything is quite tight. Thank Eric for the video. For my 2 cents and that is all it is worth. I think the G3500 would be more useful the the smaller one. around the farm. I think that as a person uses them more you will learn more tricks to using them. Have a good day.
Love what you do man definitely love where you are taking things love seeing it man and yeah skid loaders do have their perks that’s why it’s good to have one or two around but Blessing to you and the fam bro!!!!🙏🙏
Watching other channels loaders are often used in Europe, and never see skid steer units. Saw a unit where they had an agitator on a bucket for silage (or in the case of Europe grass). Cole the cornstar, they got a JCB skid loader and they liked it because you enter from the side. Their loader is track but I think it also has a wheeled version.
One thing I see if those hydraulic lines running under the boom need a shield over them, I can see at some point dumping into mixer or a dump truck getting to closer and the sides hitting those lines
It seems like if there was a size in between these two it would be perfect. A little extra reach than the 2700 to get over the feed mixer and a little tighter turn radius than the 3500 to get around the barn.
Nice video Eric lots of info on loader's you could be a great salesman but I think the skid steer is better on your farm. The good thing about the loaders is they don't chew up tires. But the cost to replace the tires on the new machines would be a lot more, they are so much larger than the skid steer. But they are very nice machines Iam sure after a few days you would have it working like the skid steer just that learning curve.
Very nice machines. I don't know if you have a dealer close to you but you could have a look at Kramer compact wheel loaders. They tend to be a little shorter wheelbase than the Giants because they are 4 wheel steer instead of articulated. 😊
When you get stuck against a wall you can push down with the bucket to lift the front wheels ...then turn the steering wheel and that will bring your wheels away from the wall...then you lift the bucket and carry on...

Your positive attitude makes it all go well, and thats why you get chosen to demo them.
We used a G3500 for a month on a project. Machine really is amazing. Good balance and traction. Also the big black ant on the boom.
Impressive machines, Eric. I can see lots of positives, but when many of your feed and cleanup systems center around the maneuvering of a skid steer it’s hard to change.

We also have one 1 the Netherlands the same as almost every farmer, skidsteers arent popular here but we love our giant loaders
I fit the 2700 in my tool trailer. It lifts pallets of pavers. I leave the escavator and track loader at home for all hardscape jobs now
It’s from my HOMETOWN OISTERWIJK NETHERLANDS amazing machines!!😊

We bought a compact wheel loader (john deere 324L) and it works great for mixing feed and moving big square bales but building work is difficult.
Yeah Eric if nothing else the savings on not replacing the skid steer tires so often is a big plus.
We use skid loaders for mixing feed and burn through hard surface tires pretty quick...I like how high the wheel loader sits. Thanks for the video nice to see an application that relates to what we would use it for 👍

what a sweet ride Eric. Looks like fun to be honest
I predict he sticks with the skid steer
I agree, unfortunately a lot of their buildings are built around the use of skid steers which obviously are more nimble and agile than other machines
If you get stuck onto the wall, push you're bucket down. Push the frontwheels up. And just steer youre way out.

That's what we ended up with. Add a loader keep the skid. Alot less hours on the skid, yet still have it for bedding, small pens and cleaning up feed.

When you get stuck you could put the bucket on the ground so youre front tires lift up and rotate the stering whee then
Mighty fine ; wish we could get some rain down here in south Texas!! God Bless!!
Ask for more time with them to evaluate. A few days even. One of these and one skid loader would be a good mix for the chores you have.
Cheers 🇨🇦
I forgot lifting seed bags over the seeder.
Just watched video again the small one in calf barn is cool to see you can clean 1/2 the pen from one side then go in backwards and clean other side
I think the compact loaders will do well cleaning up manure
We have a Bobcat A300 and an A770..just traded the A770 in on a Bobcat TL519...awesome replacement machine.
Do'nt know why we waited so long. Its great to have a 19' lift height.
The skid steer is the right machine for cleaning out the calf barn, hands down!!
I used to do landscaping and we ran kubota articulated machines. Loved everything about them except for the slow hydraulics.
If you are stuck in a corner it helps to put the bucket down en push the front axel of the ground and turn the steering wheel.
Funny we my wife and I were just down your way for the Rough and Tumble. We were trying to find the the air B and B we were staying at and we drove right past your place. 1 skid steer and 1 giant g3500 would be a good combo
I work on a dairy farm in Wisconsin and we have both a skidsteer and we also use compact loaders to do the bigger stuff that takes longer with a skidsteer
The biggest one can be used for stacking round bales and scooping out the big barns specially the dry cows pens
Nice to see Dutch machinery in the states
Sounds you need this as a second machine instead of a second bigger skid steer. Great video!
Great video and yes a bit of a learning curve. i operated Articulate Machines in the mid 1980'to mid 1990's.

Great video Eric. Just like SaskDutchKid, A dairy on the prairie, Laura Farms, Millennial Farmer and a lot of other channels you tell the real and honest story abour ag and farming. You should be rewarded with much more viewers.
Skid loaders are quicker and more nimble. Perfect for a dairy farm 🇺🇸👍
Those both look like nice units and would probably be a welcome addition to any farm. Unfortunately though I don’t think anything else compares to the maneuverability of a skid steer. I guess that is why you see so many skid steer, pay loader combinations.
I have a feeling you would really like the power of the 3500 for cleaning out your new calf barn bedding
We have the same G3500 we just use it side jobs because we load feed with nh t6 with front louder
Keep your skidster for the small gobs
The one skid steer that wood work well for you would be jcb teleskid
A lot less money spent on tires with these units. First thought I had, compared to a skid steer
Yep that was my first thought as well.
neat little machines there. if you had a bunch of round or square bale work it would be handy also. Just need everything a bit wider if you were going to use one all the time. thanks for another great video.
Reminds of the jcb 407 I used to drive. Very handy bit of kit. Brilliant video 💪🏻 🏴
See if you can find a drop off bucket. If you like the smaller machine but don’t have the height to get into the spreader, that type of bucket would work great. It also works great for back dragging when the bucket is open.
Should have a look at the avant loader can do the same and is smaller also has over 200 attachments and would be suitable for dairy farming work
New is always nice, I think if skid steer could come up with a telescopic bucket without extending the overall length too much but hey I drove trucks what do I know. But I did a haul milk when I drove trucks and I’m familiar with the fragrances
The skid steer was built for cleaning crap out of pens. It's hard to beat it at that game.
Nice edit, Eric. Thanks for sharing.
Thx for the review
I think you gave a good review on the wheel loaders, especially the bigger one. I could see our Farm run something like that if we had the money for it :-/
The main problem I see is that your farm is build around skid steers, so everything is quite tight. For example your calf barn and probably the slatted floor in the milk cow barn. Thats just build for skid steers and there wouldnt be a good way without compromises to be satisfied with just a Wheel Loader. But nontheless I can very well see you guys trade one skid steer in to buy a wheel loader with 80-100hp for Jobs that just require that bit more power and reach (if it fits the wallet of course XD)
Great video as always and keep up your excellent work
greetings from germany!
Those look like some pretty neat machines.
If you had wider pens then these would be great...but for your guys setup I feel the skid steer just does it better.
I can see how something like the larger of the two could be very helpful on a farm of your size.
Cool! Might save on skid steer tires.
You should really consider buying it. I think it could be much more effective than it is right now
It says alot about the quality of your channel that equipment dealers are interested in letting you demo various pcs of equipment
i think with more seat time and have the extendable option on the smaller unit you may be able to get it to work for you
Thank Eric for the video.

They just seem so wrong for barn clean out. But they look like they would be so good for so many other chores.

Pretty accurate description of capabilities and desirable features Eric. What warranty comes with the machines and what do they list price at ??
Imo the skid steer maneuvers so much more efficiently in your operation but I did like the demo
When you get stuck against a wall you can push down with the bucket to lift the front wheels ...then turn the steering wheel and that will bring your wheels away from the wall...then you lift the bucket and carry on...
That's what you need just for loading feed and used the skid steer for everything else.
13:52 If you get stuck, lower the bucket and lift the front tires, turn away from the wall. Lift bucket and drive away.
Giant for the outside and skid steer for inside!
I can see the advantages you gain. How do these compare in price to a skid loader?
They cost maybe 50% more. That would have been something worth mentioning in the video.
