I still can’t drive yet but I have been a corvette lover my whole life and I can’t wait to buy one but I’m not sure if I should look into buying a classic or a current model. I love both.
The only good 81 is one with a Crate engine and 4 speed stick. With that crate engine and the 3:07 rear end, It's no wonder you were having so much fun. Back in 80-85 my Red 80 4 speed would do 70 in 1st and right to 4th! True! PS: Those 3 holes on the frame at the driver & passenger door are for the side pipe option that used to be. Put in side pipes and save the frame there as that is a key rusting point.
Jim’s mowing service yea but if your going to buy a corvette your expecting it to already have 300hp. I had an 82 and it was slow as hell I thought it was going to be massively quick having the corvette name.
Great video. Love the c3s. You're the only one besides me that I ever heard call them a go-kart. lol Mine is a 79 I got as a basket case. Restoring it. Can't wait to get it done so I can take it out like you did here. Do you still have yours?
Great vid man I've been lucky enough to have mine since I was around 3 and now I'm old enough to drive it, now we're looking forward to fix it up on the interior and some dings on the outside
I want to buy one 74 Vette, but it is auto :( I always prefered Camaro 2 gen over C3 but i love the body style of 74-77 and I am not sure about the plastic body. If I get some classic like C3, I will never sell it. I will drive it, till I die. Cool late Vette!
Opie Winston if you want to go standard shift, silver sport trans out of tenn. makes the 500 and 600 5 speeds, and the T56 6 speeds for the c3. The 5 speeds bolt in without cutting the cross member. Hydraulic clutch too, no heavy clutch. You have OD!!!
Recently started looking at 1981 Corvettes, no particular reason, I doubt i'd actually buy one. Is the '81 kind of considered bad, compared to other corvettes? Something about being really held back by a bunch of emissions regulations? Thats a lot of what I hear, that it looks cool but kind of sucks.
It's completely subjective. What's considered bad for one guy might not be bad for you. They arnt power houses by any means but they're good cars. Independant rear axle, 4 speed trans, power seats/windows ect. Sure a c5 will smoke It but for the time it was great. Every muscle car from the 80's suffered the same emissions regulations and were under powered. Easily remedied today if you can turn a wrench.
You said "350 crate engine". More likely it is a 383 crate engine and depending who built it can have from 350 to 500 horses. That's why it throws your head back when you change gears ..😊
No, It was a 350, It was kind of gutless to be honest, just snappy is all. the ls1 firebird had no problem pulling a couple car lengths on it at the factory 305 hp. cheers
I absolutely love the c3 corvette beautiful but thats where it ends,it looks like it's fast but it's the complete opposite super duper slow 🐌 it's embarrassing 😳 I am being honest 😅 and mine was 1981 4sp
@@hondamancl450 sold for 20k last summer, got my fun out of it. These cars are getting desirable in Canada, no one really cares how fast it is. it's the classic look they are after.
Man nothing better than taking a drive in a nice Corvette with the T tops off looking at that front end that goes for ever yeah... That's a real nice Vett .. ruclips.net/video/6vvcedQ2W6o/видео.html
I usually prefer American sports cars over Japanese sports cars. But DO NOT get a older c3 corvette, they are way to unreliable. If you want a really fun and cheap to maintain car, GET A DAMN MIATA if you can fit in one.
Love that exterior color, nice! I've always been infatuated with the lines of the C3's

I am going to buy this car when I am old enough to drive:)
Do it! It's a fantastic machine and lots of fun to drive. Good luck!
They aren’t that good
Rage Monkey if you had one with cross fire injection, swap it out with a Holley sniper and it becomes way better, you can get 350hp from a sniper

@@kittykat7301 well that's just too bad
You drive anything classic/vintage folks will look and want to talk to you compared to any late model stuff.
100%, the classics really turn heads!
I’m 16 and just bought this car as my first car
Take good care of it son
Im 17 and looking to get one not to race or beat up i want ome to take care of and collect
@@AxisVein you should. They are already collectable and will only go up in price! Beautiful cars.

@larylhuntington5398 yah they're a ton of fun to whip around. No it's been gone for a couple years now.
I have a 1981 in black. I call it “la bete’noir”, Translates to, the black beast. She’s a little rough on the outside, but damn what a car…
I own one EXACTLY like that monus the leather seats. Need to do that though
somewhere out in Mexico that has a Petro Canada station.......hmmmmmmm. Awesome video
Shh, they'll hear you.
Oh my goodness.. I was looking at the car from the beginning clip..nice video and car👍
Lol this is not for a first time stick driver. Exactly what I am haha
I actually wanted to see the rest of the GM promotional video.

Just bought my 82 c3..😍
Wow nice car!!
Loved the video!!! I hope to get one hopefully soon and wanted to ask if you could make a video maybe doing a run down on maintenance cost and etc?
good Idea! I'll keep that in mind.
