  • Shutting down the tyranny of unelected bureaucrats is the most important issue of our time - and it could also be the most unifying. Americans may disagree on a lot, but we believe in self-governance.

Constitution was in 1789. That is why George Washington is sometimes not called the 1st president but rather the 1st president under the Constitution (1789 to 1797). There were several presidents prior to that between 1776 and 1789 with the typical term being right about 1-year. They were the presidents under the Aritcles of Confederation so if we go back to 1776 we are with the Articles of Confederation, not the Constitution. Good sentiment though.

Is it possible to have Politicians not be vague or ambiguous in their language when writing a proposed law? I mean it's 2024, can we not as a people have laws mean what they say and intend in their implementation? It's not just the ABC agency's fault. The doors were left open for them to "interpret" language in their own way. For an example we could use the 10 commandments. Why are they so Powerful? Well imo it's because of their simplicity. There is no room for political jockeying. They are easily understandable from a Nobel Laureate to a street person with a 3rd grade education.

The Supreme Court ruling that corporations are people is a mistake and not what the constitution actually intended - as the preamble mentions humans being created equal and with inalienable rights, not artificial forms getting power. Corporate owners still have their rights so corporations don't need the human bill of rights to be protected, and humans can use their voices how they choose already.
Letting money "speak" makes all humans 2nd class citizens because money speaks much louder and humans cannot compete. We need to correct this error as We the People have lost our self governance when lobbying money supports corporate interests more loudly. All it takes for foreign entities to influence our laws and regulations is to have a corporation in the US.

Perhaps 'Centralized Authority' has an inflection point at which beyond that (maximum), an economic death spiral is induced?
One example: property tax rates. At some property tax rate level
(for example, the rate at which median income households cannot qualify for conventional mortgage loans on median value homes, due to debt-to-income ratios)
the property values collapse, and conditions are created such that nobody (other than corrupt orchestrators) is left to subsidize the system demanding these taxes.

Same thing with cops. Every town and municipality is supposed to have an elected sheriff and his appointed deputies. Not municipal police funded by tax dollars. With tanks and swat teams and everything else. That’s a violation of the 3rd amendment being forced to harbor and quarter troops, maybe not in your own home, but still in principle being forced to fund effectively a standing army, that very often oversteps its bounds.

      Who watches the watchmen?
Isnt the point of these agencies to do the watching and monitoring in the first place. This would be fighting fire with fire right? It would probably centralize the bureaucrats even more to be co-opted.
Im not an expert or even have looked into these matters deep enough to truly know what is best but I think we need most these agencies to be consultants and advisors - people setting recommendations and working with states to make these recommendations into law that the states would enforce.
Then citizen would look and say, hey California does it like this and Texas does it like that. Allowing us all to see the consequence of the choices and going to the location that works best or vote in the politicians that will enact whats desired. When its federal power enforced upon all of us, we are too big and divided to coherently decide what we want and need - people in LA live differently then those in Idaho and have different stresses, incentives, and dreams. But the main thing is to divide power so local people can have more say in how they are governed.

The fact that the left tries to pin this issue on the "Right wing" showes how the right is actually the center and not the boogy man the left always tries to portray it. It is actually the left that is outside the mainstream on most issue. Most Americans have never been keen on supporting wars like the left does, encouraging gay (now trans) lifstyle, allowing abortion up until the due date, allowing crimmials to run loose lon the street, allowing people to camp on sidewalks, encouraging people to come here illeagaly from other countries, and on and on. I completely agree that this process of regulating is a big problem for this country, and it needs to change. The concern I have is that if the regulations are removed will people just do what they want. Example- When I was young fish were disappearing in Long Island at an alarming rate. Private and commercial fisherman were "raping the ocean", as many were saying. The EPA came out with regulations restrict how people could fish and within 5-10 years the protected fish rebounded. I am pretty sure the spirit that caused my species to disappear is only stronger today. How do we protect our assets, and the rights of Americans, and the rest of our neighbors on this planet? I guess this is a start and we need to be grateful for that. Trump - Vivek 2024!

I bought land in the middle of nowhere, zoned rural residential, and the bureaucracy there was a bit too much for me. The structural requirements are easily 2x overkill. Just let a guy build his own home! If you're concerned about safety, restrict sale for a period of time to ensure it stands the test of time (and that it would pass a home inspection when sold).
I'll sell the land in a couple months once the utilities are in. I really wanted to build a home - to live in, not for money - but rules and regulations prevented me being productive.
The building season here is about 5.5 months, and after months of being led to believe I was at the cusp of building, they wanted a ton more stuff. No way I could build this year even IF I were OK with jumping through hoops. But I guess it keeps real-estate prices high.
Some codes make perfect sense - e.g. if you're connecting to a public utility, but we have WAY TOO MANY rules and requirements when building. I'm surrounded by some original homesteads that are truly sketchy, lived in, and have so far stood the test of time well over 100-150 years. Anything I would have built would have been better than those...

There are a lot of problems with bureaucrats and regulations. One of the key issues, for me at least, is that bureaucrats have the option to enforce the regulations differently for different people. If a bureaucrat likes you, they can legally make an exception, if they do not like you they can legally choose to enforce the regulation with no fear of being held accountable for the disparate treatment. They do not have that flexibility with laws. I am a bureaucrat and have seen it many times. I hope when Trump wins, he will take Vivek's advice and lay at least half of us off.
Regulations are rules with the effect of law created by bureaucrats and are therefore more flexible for their enforcement.
Laws are made by Congress and therefore provide very little flexibility to the bureaucrats for their enforcement.
