    Damn ….do one more then give up …what a long winded fumble that was…I gave up after 5 minutes jeez?? Could you mutter and bs anymore….you were obviously stretching that out mega too long,…here’s a tip to idiots on here….cut them to 10 minutes…we don’t want anyone…..rogan is the same who the hell wants listen to him go on for 2 and 3 hours?? One hour is enough for any interview.

      @Phil480  6 часов назад

      Well damn, Sean. You might have a really good point there!
      I mean, who in their right mind could possibly want more than an hour of content when, let’s be real, an entire lifetime of human experience and knowledge can be conveyed in precisely 10 minutes, right? It’s not like there’s any nuance or depth to be explored in conversations that last longer than a sitcom episode. Why bother with details or background when we can just skim through everything? 10 minutes, max, because that's obviously the perfect duration for everything, from deep philosophical debates to complex scientific discussions.
      And really, who needs Joe Rogan when we could just have everyone give us their “10-minute highlights reel” of deep thoughts? We’ll just cut out all the interesting tangents, the stories that flesh out a person’s character, the little insights that pop up when conversations meander in unpredictable directions. No one has time for that, right? Just a quick soundbite, no more, no less.
      The thing about podcasting and long-form interviews is that it’s all about the *journey*, not just the destination. But hey, who needs that, right? Just get straight to the “punchline,” keep it snappy, and call it a day. After all, we live in an age of rapid consumption, where everything should fit perfectly into our short attention spans. Forget about the richness of the human experience-let’s just condense it into bite-sized bits and throw the rest away. If I could somehow condense *all* human knowledge into one RUclips Short video, now that would be truly revolutionary, wouldn’t it?
      Also, to your point about the "long-winded fumble" - clearly, there's nothing more rewarding than a well-polished, succinct soundbite that skips over all the thought processes, the failures, the reflection. Because that’s what we really want, right? The *instant gratification* of everything, minus any of the inconvenience of effort, reflection, or, heaven forbid, thoughtfulness.
      So yes, let's take your sage advice to heart: a ten-minute cut for every interview, and then, obviously, **delete the rest**. Why risk actually diving into something interesting when we can just toss it all away in favour of speed and convenience? It’s almost as though we’re too busy to even think about *thinking* deeply anymore!
      TL;DR I really don't give a smeg

    Loved my 800 XCX but my pillion (Wife) was getting hip pain on long journeys. We swapped it for a 1200 GT Pro last December and hip pain has gone. She now complains that the grab rails (which are big on the 800 allowing easy access with panniers) are not as good on the 1200 (we have soft givi luggage). For a lone rider the 800 is a great bike with plenty of power and good associated costs

    Great review, I changed from a Tiger 955 to a 2017 800XRX with only 10000 miles on it. Great bike and totally agree about the plastics being a pain. But after the first time getting them off to do the 12000 mile service, should be easier next time as know what is what. Mine is the fly by wire with cruse control which is good on the motorways. Only problem I have had is the ABS light coming on at start up and not going out. After looking at the internet and discounting what everyone was saying it could be, finally traced it to the battery. This was original and was only holding 11.8 volts, it seems the ecu looks for a voltage and if it does not get a min of 12v within a millisecond of turning on the ignition, it throws a code. Luckily was end of month so Halfords have discounts on a lot of things so got a new Yuasa battery which was cheaper than internet. No problems ever since. On a side note Halfords is also good for Castrol oil as normally 10% cheaper at end of month in pay day deals, and cheaper than internet.😊

      That’s good to know about Halfords. I usually avoid using them as it’s usually overpriced but sometimes they have good deals.
      I’ve heard similar about the voltage thing on the ECU.

    I have had my 2018 800 for 6 years and about 31,000 miles. No problems…great bike. Recently picked up the Triumph Scrambler 400x for a lighter ride. No plans to replace the 800 anytime soon.

      Awesome! You’ll have to let me know how you get on with the 400X. I was planning to get one of them but I went for the scrambler 900 instead

    Just bought a 12 plate tiger with low mileage, fully loaded and in mint condition. Look forward to putting a load of miles on it. You mentioned how the turning circle is bad, I don't know the difference between the 800 and the 1050, but I tend to lay the back down and counter lean, and it turns on a dime ;)

    Nice video, my xcx 800 didn't have the faults yours had but mine is at under 30,000 miles still. Mine had pilly footpeg rubber/plastic broke. You ride a lot :D I almost always ride two up but when riding solo there is plenty of torque. Had mine 8 years, been to NC500 3 times, Normandy, Wales, Yorkshire, Northern and Southern Ireland, Isle of Man every year plus Isle of Wight this year (just about everywhere I can reach). Still love it, I too would get a 900 roadie with luggage. Pilly loves the seats and comfort. I have the standard screen and I don't care/notice bufferting. Never changed the air filter, thanks for the tip. I noticed in 32ºC heat last week the fan came on so I'll check the coolant level again.

    • @Phil480
      @Phil480  3 месяца назад

      Ah yes, worth a check but I think 32º heat is going to make the fan kick in regardless, unless you're on the motorway.
      Wow, sounds like you've had some epic adventures on your XC!
      Thanks for watching!

      @Phil480  2 месяца назад +1

      My one certainly was UK based off the VIN, but I believe some were made in Thailand for other parts of the world

    Only 5 years? I had my 800 for 10.5 years and 98,000km. Fixed the gear selector spigot return thingy myself (drilled and tapped) mine was an early silver frame.

    Stepper motor is a major issue that triumph refuses to recall the fault for our year of Tiger. Mine nearly caused a 1 on 1 with an articulated lorry, triumph claim it is a user maintained part. Newer models have an encased stepper motor, stopping this.

    • @Phil480
      @Phil480  3 месяца назад

      Glad they've improved it on the newer models. Seems to be more of an issue in other parts of the world. Mine had done around 68k miles when my stepper started playing up.
