Set a timer for 20 minutes and make yourself remain in craft room and put stuff where it belongs. If there isn’t a place for it, set it in a pile to deal with during another 20 minute section of time. You’d be amazed at how much you truly get done in 20 minutes. Try it! (PS BEWARE.... you usually are on such a roll you keep working even after your timer goes off). Sometimes I do walk away for a little bit and then set my timer for another 20 minutes. It is honestly astounding how much better your space looks after that timer rings!!!

My kitchen island is a clutter magnet. I alway place things that need to go in the basement in the corner closest to the stairs. Incoming mail and stuff to be filed are in the opposite corner waiting . It’s also where I spread out tax filing documents every year, where fall harvests sit waiting to be processed, so it’s year round.

Love the video (as usual). TFS. Bedside table is my nemesis, every time I take something away...I need it! Oh well...working on it! Funny story, determined to keep paper clutter at bay, I got a “heavy duty”shredder. “You need not open junk mail again” they advertised. Just put the whole envelope in the shredder, save time. An advertiser sent me a nickel among several pages...did not know it was in there, paper thick...the shredder was “heavy duty” all right...chewed up the nickel; only part damaged...a tiny plastic sensor that caused the rollers to engage. I was so busy laughing, I could only be mad at myself. Lesson here...take a minute to at least tear/cut end of envelope and shake! Needless to say a new EXPENSIVE shredder had to be ordered. They are not meant to shred nickels. B. Sims

Yesterday I finally dived into the kitchen drawers keeping in mind doing 1 or 2 drawers at a time as you’ve suggested in the past - doing a little at a time. I filled one grocery bag with the extra ice cream scoops, church keys, silver ware, tossed old spices & alphabetized the remaining. In the past I would have tried to do this in one sitting but thanks to you I’m no longer overwhelmed. I live w it’s my dad so much of the items have been sentimental but no longer have a purpose just a few months ago I tossed one of those toddler dishes which held hot water to keep the food warm it was my 60 yr old sisters!

I built a "go too" "daily use" shelving in the kitchen by going into the sheet rock 4" and came out 4" for an 8" shelves. These are the every day, salt, coffee, pancake syrup, soup in and out things. My bathroom has become complex to organize. Drawers, counters, cabinet, shelves, and medicine cabinet all in one space and dealing with prescription meds, over the counter meds, supplements, makeup, hair stuff, dental stuff, skin care, towels, cleaning products. One quirk is we have sort of deep drawers which means I’ve had to stack/layer some things to utilize the space. I’ve used trays and little bins and it works pretty well. I also built a tall but shallow set of shelves to go between our double sinks. It’s open in back so the mirror behind it reflects some light through.

I use it for my computer work (I hate having it visible in my living space), scrapbook projects, and photo organizing. Because it is out of sight it tends to get messy and everything just lands wherever. I am working on it but.... As far as purses go, I started getting smaller purses so I couldn't put so much in them but my daughter in law gave me an awesome cross body bag from Kavu which keeps my stuff limited and is really comfortable on my back.

Being seniors now, we have a lot of meds, so I use a nice melamine tray on the kitchen counter with daily pill holders for us both, plus several other meds that have to be handy, which keeps them tidy behind my recipe box and napkin holder. I also had to rearrange a kitchen cupboard to make it the medicine cabinet. We still have meds in the bedroom so I use another small tray for mine, and that leaves room for a tissue box, glass of water etc. by the bed. My husband uses the top of a small dresser because he has so many meds! My nightmare spaces are the basement and garage, they're works in progress right now.

I started out pleased with myself, My coats go straight into the wardrobe the same with my shoes,, as the bedroom is next to the door, Mail I have a system open at the door dump the envelope and bump in a designated bucket. etc, yet my house still feels cluttered at lot of which is the stuff I decluttered from other rooms. That final step of removal from the house. without a car is difficult.I should recycle but I know to get it out of the house I should just bin.

My pantry has to serve multiple purposes. I have 4 shelves, I think. The top one I use for paper towels and large items. The floor, I use for heavy items. The first shelf has a tool box and crock pot. The other two shelves, I use for canned food. (I had bought an over-the-door shoe rack and put my plastic wrap, foil, etc., in it so I could use that kitchen drawer for towels and dish cloths; which freed up that shelf.) On one shelf, I have misc fruit, pie fillings, veggies, coffee creamer, etc. On the other shelf, I lined up what I used to make spaghetti sauce, chili, goulash, and Shipwreck Stew; the four things I make the most often. I lined the ingredients up in a row, then I just grab that row of canned items to make one of my favorite dishes. It also makes it easy to do a grocery list. I don't have to go thru all the canned items to see if I have diced tomatoes or some other such thing. That's my only tip-of-the-day! LOL

I love the durability, washability and light weight of my Bagatelli handbag. I don't change handbags so I get one at a time, use it til it's done and then move on. So my biggest pet peeve with the Bagatelli? It's black inside and I can't see a dadgum thing. Since I loved it in every other way, I decided to try one of those purse organizers. I got a nice pink one so I could see. It doesn't work. It collapses and folds and I'm struggling to get to the pockets to slip things in. I'm giving up and looking for another purse. Have trays or boxes specifically allocated to hold what you need. This contains them, but gives a neater visual. It also limits what you can put inside, keeping you from tossing in things that don't belong.

I have too many kitchen small appliances. I use them all variously throughout the year but the Instantpot, the air fryer, the Kitchenaid mixer, the Vitamix mixer, the Nuwave oven, the chopper, various sized crockpots, coffeemaker. I've got a nice sized kitchen but I don't have the space for the appliances and most are too heavy to move about. I can't just put them on a shelf in the garage because I can't hardly lift some of them as it is. The rest of my house is smaller so there is no other place to put them. I have an appliance cabinet that I use for the ones I can lift and move around. But the others... I'm about to the point of clearing off my bar (we don't eat at it anyway) and lining them up on the bar and leaving them there. It's off the workspace. But it's not very attractive either. We have an open concept so it would make all the appliances viewable from the little dining area and the den. Ah, well, whatever works.

Anything and everything that either of them doesn't know what to do with ends up on my piano. I also have one of my other granddaughters here 5 days a week and between the two teenagers, they can't seem to collect enough water bottles....not just any water bottles....designer water bottles. I have a teeny tiny kitchen without much space to put away dishes etc....much less water bottles!
