I bet Judge Nicol and some others wish this would all just go away, but I don't think it will. At least I hope not. Justice matters. And this case matters to a lot of people. Rupert Murdock's son was friends with Elon Musk, and on the board for Tesla when he dated AH.
The Judge, at the time he was appointed to the case, worked for a lawfirm, and co-authored a law book with the lawfirm's owner. AH's lawyer worked for the same lawfirm. AH's lawyer took her to a dinner during the trial that was hosted by the owner of the lawfirm's ex wife, and also attended by The judge's wife, and severel of AH's friends. Those women have been friends and supporters of AH for a long time. Including the judge's wife. And they all published support for AH DURING the trial. Including the Judge's wife.

It’s unfortunate that the UK doesn’t have the ethics rules for Judges that the US does. His blatant and numerous conflicts of interest would be not only grounds for nullification of his verdict, but serious disciplinary action against him.

You can only have "an axe to grind" if you have REASONS for it. Amber Heard is an evil MANIPULATOR ... who PLANNED TO TAKE WHATEVER SHE CAN GET!
There are pieces of evidence which suggest that SHE MIGHT EVEN HAVE PLANNED TO KILL JOHNNY DEPP (through the idiot Josh Drew "white knighting poor poor Amber Heard"). The accusations told to her psychiatrists from the start - if they are even actually given to the psychiatrist and not added later on by Amber herself - clearly show that she planned for it FROM THE START. She changed her description from "a magical first year" to "he was violent from the start" (so why marry the guy then???) after all.

When I was first looking into this trial several years ago there was a reaLLY interesting chart that someone had made basically outlining the connections that the judge's wife and son had to either Heard or to the Sun. The judge's son worked for the same parent company that owned The Sun. His wife attended several women's charity dinners at which Heard was also present, and shared several mutual friends/mentors with Heard at the time. Those are just the two main connections I remember off the top of my head, but there were...more than just those. If you're going to seriously pursue this you should absolutely look into those claims, though.

BBB the more you keep this in the public eye of the UK the better. There will be people like yourself in the legal profession, judges and other barristers that will not like the UK legal system questioned. The fact a Jury in the USA came to an unanimous decision will have made senior law makers in the UK squirm in their seats. We are very proud of our legal system in the UK and believe that it should be able to stand up to any level of criticism. Due to due process. Unfortunately in this instance the system has failed and that is now out there for the world to see. The Judge has been questioned as to whether he should have even resided over the case due to conflict of interest, that aside, I believe that if AH’s appeal is refused then the UK will reopen this judgement and potentially look at perjury, that way saving face and saying that they were misled so much so that a miscarriage of justice happened (that’s the ideal) the other side of the coin is that they won’t reopen it as it could be seen that we don’t believe in our own judges decisions or that our system has flaws. I hope that we decide on the first option, but I truly believe they will wait with any decision until AH’s appeal is dismissed. As someone who believes very strongly in our UK legal system I think it would be a travesty if we were to let this go and not reopen it, but truly only time will tell

You make a compelling case! The question is: Having achieved his aim of public vindication, would Johnny want to spend the time, energy, and money on a second court trial? Unlike Amber, I don't get the feel that Johnny is enjoying raking up his private life in the public eye.
In American law, there are circumstances in which a verdict can be overturned if some flaw is discovered after the fact. Could the revelation that Amber *hadn't* actually given away her divorce settlement to charity as she claimed be grounds for voiding the judgement? After all, the learned judge cited the "fact" of Amber having donated this money as proof of Amber's credibility. Now that we know that didn't happen, can the trial be invalidated under UK law, without any obligation that the matter be retried if the plaintiff (Johnny) has no desire to re-litegate?

The Sun, having previously hacked JD,s phone when Lily Rose was a sick child, had a strong will to ensure JD could not win...
Evidence is the story of the truth and must be allowed to have explanations...
JD was unable to disprove ambers evidence, by design.
And yes, Nichol based his judgement on DONATED MONEY
so regardless if the petition declares a mistrial, or conflict or whatever...
Jd has proven ambers evidence was manipulated, fraudulent, and assisted by others ie; a HOAX....

Daniel, listening to your reasoning I also feel this judgement should be set aside and another case be presented to a jury rather than a single judge presiding over the case. Also Amber Heard should be compelled to be a witness and give all evidence so nothing is excluded. it is a shame that they couldn't use the evidence and findings in the American court case in the British trial. I also was listening to the photographer who was told to take pictures of Amber Heard as she came out of court with the bruises on her face and which side to take. surely these close up original pictures should have been part of evidence and they should have been medically analysed to see if they were real and not makeup and the injuries fit what she was claiming had happened. This actress is a drama artist as the American trial has shown, everything she is saying and claiming should be questioned throughly, her lawyers and publicists have repeatedly manipulated the media deliberately throughout the British and American court cases, so nothing should be accepted at face value.

In addition to the Judge's many conflicts of interest, he just made the Politically Correct judgment in favour of the helpless, abused, charitable attractive female against the nasty film star male - just to keep the lynch mob away from his door
I just hope that this case proves to everyone that women do not always tell the truth when they are out to get revenge or make money !!

The judge should have stepped to one side for another judge to take the hearing. To many connections, Judge Nichols son working within the Rupert Murdoch umbrella.
A Heard having dinner with the Judge, all red flags.
Very inappropriate decision by Judge Nichols to sit at the hearing.

Thank you so much for all the hard work you have put into this appeal and issue; incorrect charges of domestic abuse, and trial by a judge instead of a jury for these kind of criminal cases. As a citizen of this world I can say, sincerely, that any case of abuse is criminal as extreme harm has been done to someone that will have lifelong effects (I’m American). I also pray the UK case is looked at again because Ms Heard is using it as a higher Court ruling because it was a finding by a Judge. There are so many people that will agree with her and not understand that the UK trial wasn’t against her but the newspaper and Dan Wooten; this fact is never mentioned. Again I thank you and if funds are needed for you to go forward please let us know through your channel and Andy’s. Many will be willing to have this over and done with

Very interesting analysis. Many thanks for explaining that. And, yes, would like to hear what more you have to say on the matter as I'm very upset as to why the UK Justice System should have allowed this injustice to pass with impunity, especially in view of the huge win Depp achieved in the Virginia trial, which couldn't have been fairer. I do hope that your UK System will review that judgement and, at least, allow his appeal to go through. Something was seriously wrong with that judge and his judgement and we, around the world, can all see it. Interestingly, Dan Wootan has stayed mum following the US defamation victory by Depp. Makes you wonder if he's since had a crisis of conscience, considering that he was the instigator of the calumny against Depp.

People trying to say the judge was compromised because his wife had dinner with some person that was connected to Heard or her lawyer, or that his son worked at a radio station owned by the same company that owned the newspaper that the article was written in, I honestly ignore those arguments as ridiculous. HOWEVER, someone put out a video that explained that this judge very specifically was connected to defending the rights of the MEDIA'S freedom to report virtually anything. Had written a book on it with someone connected to Heard's side. THOSE are conflicts of interest that absolutely should have been grounds for him to be removed from the case, as he CLEARLY already had a bias to believe that the MEDIA had a right to print whatever they deemed to be "newsworthy". In the US, he 100% would have been removed on those grounds.
That doesn't even begin to address his obvious bias against anyone that has a substance abuse problem - assuming any time Depp was drinking or using drugs during an incident that he absolutely had NO IDEA what happened during that time, and therefore only Heard should be believed. Nor does it address his obvious bias that men could not POSSIBLY be abused by women, as his utterly RIDICULOUS hoop jumping that he does to dismiss incidents when Depp says she did something to him (such as saying she couldn't have thrown a red bull at Depp as Heard doesn't drink red bull - what?! or that she couldn't have thrown a purse at him because she was in her pajamas - WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!). Worse - dismissing doctors, nurses, cops, other credible witnesses in order to satisfy his belief that she was abused.

I’ve recently gone back and watched a few videos about the UK trial that were posted when it happened. It’s heartbreaking, knowing what we all know now, that most people believed Amber. I believed her too and I feel horribly guilty now for doing so. It is painful to think about how Johnny must have been feeling for all of those years. I’m so glad that he was able to finally expose her and reclaim his life and reputation. Great work Daniel. I feel this case may eventually change how these cases are heard.
There must be more accountability with Judges that have some kind of link to a person before them.
It’s clear to see you are a fan of truth and justice, and I personally am thankful for people like you who seek to ensure justice is done. This is such an admiral trait.
Wishing you success in over-turning this verdict and once again showing our justice system is one to be respected! Currently this case has lost so much faith in our system, home and abroad.
Should judge Nicholls have heard this case considering his links to Mr Wooten and the media mogul and great manipulative master, Mr Murdoch.
If it isn’t already a stipulation that no judge should hear a case where he has any connection, then maybe a petition to make it so?

Thank you so much for this Daniel.
What did you make of AH being allowed to sit in for the whole of the UK trial, before giving her evidence or being subject to recall, when she was just a witness in the UK? Surely that's against procedure, and she shouldn't have sat in the whole UK trial prior to her own testimony?
Caroline Pykles who has followed this since the divorce proceedings (as it smelled fishy to her), said AH sitting in for the whole of the UK trial allowed her to write 7 different witness statements, that were ammended according to each testimony she heard before her own -- I am unsure if she meant the statements were for the UK trial, or for the USA trial, but Pykles seemed to imply it was for the UK courts.... I'll try to find the section of video.
I can go for half an hour on a video like this, as you set it out so clearly. But 20 minutes little bites to replay and digest is also good..... You make what could potentially be a dry topic for many, really interesting. Thank you.
...... Still rethinking if I should do full legal training afterall, but I know I can't handle any kind of stress currently.

Thank you for breaking down the reasons for the appeal. Imo, I watched with interest the credibility of the witness, focussing on the donation, which I understand was discussed at the appeal hearing. The argument that a high volume of requests had been made for evidence of donations, was ignored and had now come to light. I understand the judges ruled because a question had not been asked in the trial or at closing, new evidence of the donations could not be allowed? Also found it odd AH and WH were allowed to sit in court as witnesses.

In American law a lawyer directly questioning their client wants the client to tell the story and so the lawyer asks open ended questions. In cross examination the other side’s lawyer tells the story so they ask questions that suggest their client’s position and narrative. I think Camille Vasquez in the Depp v. Heard trial showed brilliantly how to do a cross examination that pointed out Heard’s contradictions in her direct testimony versus Vasquez’s questions. The more prepared an attorney is the better they do obviously. Depp’s legal team used the way Heard answered questions in the UK to prepare for her to deny Vasquez’s questions and prepare essentially receipts showing her proof that Heard was contradicting or lying. Thanks. Fascinating!

I have signed your petition but am I being terribly cynical in my belief that the appeal won’t be granted by simple dint of the fact that the British justice system wishes to avoid having any egg in their face at all costs? It is clear and obvious that the trail judge was anything other than fair and impartial so why is this such an uphill struggle? Because Rupert Murdoch is too rich and powerful, that’s why, and because the judge refuses to admit fault. 😡

I really hope that you are able to attain a re-trial/appeal in the UK pertaining to this case as the Judge should have recused himself from this case (due to his involvement with personal biases) and AH being ONLY a witness in this case was allowed to have just her “Hearsay” testimony put forth and accepted as fact. AH is now claiming that the UK trial was HER CASE and it was NOT and this trial needs to be dealt with correctly!! 🤦🏼‍♀️

  • @Hollis_has_questions

Excellent, clearly reasoned argument. And all politeness, as well. Kudos to you, sir. The trial court judge-and-jury obviously bent over backwards in an attempt to find for witness Heard’s party defendant. In so doing, he considered allegations that were not in evidence, as evidence. If you weren’t trying to be polite to that judge but were instead seeking an explanation (excuse?) for the judge’s consideration of alleged facts not in evidence, you might ask what reason(s) there could be for such wrongful use of unexamined claims as part of his basis for a finding for the defendant.
