  • Lakers star Anthony Davis wasn't happy with the team's lack of organization after their loss to the Denver Nuggets in game 2 and expressed his thoughts to the media, which many saw as a shot at coach Darvin Ham. Ham reacted to those comments after Lakers practice, as Trevor Lane breaks it down...

Listen LeBron is a great player I have no hate for the man but if you watched the game the Lakers were up by 20 when LeBron had 12 points & 10 assists, letting AD go to work, & DLO be aggressive the minute he decided to start going iso ball the Nuggets got all the momentum & came back but LeBron ended up with 26, 8 & 12assists so on paper when you look at the box score it doesn’t look like he was the reason they lost, but at some point ppl need to see what the problem is. LeBron can go stat pad & go iso mode against any other team but it’s not working against the Nuggets, at some point we have to stop blaming every negative thing on Darvin Ham & actually look at the real problem!
Game 1 when Lebron seen DLO didn’t have it going he literally kept feeding him the ball & refused to shoot in the 2nd half but game 2 when DLO & AD have it going he wants to play iso ball the whole 2nd half?

I think it's very unfortunate. Ham generally seems like a nice guy and all but it's clear he's just not the right coach for a team that's trying to conpete for and win a championship. From deciding to not use the starting 5 that got you to wcf until 60+ games into the season to failing to use timeouts when needed to perhaps the most baffling of all not running plays throughout the game. He'll run plays then around the third quarter he just stops saying stuff on the sideline and it's just unacceptable. Its been a problem for the Lakers this entire season where they will have a big lead and then just kinda free lance and do iso drives and go away from running plays and go away from what worked and got them the lead in first place. We saw it in game 2 and it's truly unfortunate because that's what ultimately cost us the game. You can't have your superstar player saying this stuff basically calling out your coach then expect all to go well. Lakers need a new coach, to upgrade the bench that's been absolutely horrific only 17 points through 2 games and all from prince and to get a reliable back up big/ big to play alongside AD during stretches. We all know they will probably go all out for Trae young but they don't need to. They do those things i mentioned we're more than capable of being a championship caliber team.

When will they learn? If they stay together, organized, and TRUST each other. Particularly offensively, they’re super hard to beat. TBH, DEN doesn’t really have an answer for them. DEN is just intelligent enough of a team to let the LAL shoot themselves in the foot.

Darvin is clearly wrong that’s why he’s being defensive w his response. Also not a great idea to agree to disagree w one of your super star players. I feel like the Lakers rarely get easy buckets from an offense / play in both games in the second half’s. First half’s they were playing great screen / rolls and making the right play based off the defense. The second half’s they were jacking up a lot of bad shots w the clock running down.
Nuggets get a lot of easy buckets from a well ran offense and take what the defense gives them.
