I love how Cadence teaches Twilight to stay calm and collected only for Twilight to forget said lesson. Just like how she constantly forgets to put the trust in her friends.
Did anyone else question why there even needed to be a contest or whatever for the Crystal Empire to host the games? Couldn't the host thing be for regulations, to make sure it would be good for hosting the games? I honestly thought... the ENTIRE time, "The Empire lost 1,000 years... I'm pretty sure you can give them a freebie for the Games this ONE year."
And the award for most accurate recreation of bronies during this episode goes to... this guy. I don't actually have a prize so here's a internet cookie wrapped in a napkin saying 'good job'.
Them knowing how welcoming the crystal empire while not being from there makes sense because they are implying that they were welcomed as a newcomer there... I think.
I think she WAS expecting someone, just... not them. She'd expect someone from the palace, like the princess, the prince, or somebody else important, not six random ponies (who DID save the world like three times, but apparently no one except Celestia gives two shits about that)
I thought this episode was forgettable. Honestly, before watching this review, I didn't even remember what events took place in it, except the fact the Mane 6 were going to the Crystal Empire.
Yup. Those are the writers for the S4: McCarthy, Larson, Rogers, Polsky, Powell, Fullerton (only one episode) and a new entry called Natasha Levigner. Morrow and Williams left after the S3.
Admittedly, I actually liked Cadance's calming technique, because I was freaking sick and tired of crazy Twilight... though like you said, it seemed to decrease her I.Q. too. >:/
I won't fault Twilight for not asking her name when they first met, since I usually won't ask the name of someone I just met and am talking to until it becomes clear I might actually see that person again, but when I'm sent to someone at a certain place, and I get to that place and there's a person there, even if I'm pretty damn sure it's the person I'm supposed to be seeing I'll still VERIFY IT, if not by asking it outright, then at least by saying it in the greeting to see how they respond.
The one thing about Rainbow's dad I don't get is that relatives in this show have never been shown to share color pallets or physical attributes, but both of them have the same main and tail.
Applejack's hair is similar to her sister Applebloom's coat and Applebloom has the same red hair as Big Mac's coat. Plus Applejack and Big Mac have the same eye color and her coat is the color of his hair. As for Twilight I think it's more like she has a similar design as her mom with darker shades of purple. The dark purple in her hair is a mixture of her dad's dark blue and her mom's light purple. :)
4:54 - 5:01 Oh yes. This is so much bull! HOW THE HELL DOES THAT WORK??? Why the fucking fuck would the Imposter Pony's opinion matter in the *slightest* to Harshwinnee? You know what? Forget it! No one can unravel that mess of a plot convenience!
I've been looking for the music for a while but I just can't find it. the 'rock' cover of the mlp theme you use here and in most every MLP review vid, at the end. where did you get it? I'm sorry. I really do hate asking for music sources, really I do, but I have actually tried to find it, there are a lot but none of them are 'this one'. :< I love it too much! D: sorry to bother you.
This was the only episode if S3 that I truly hated, but unlike other episodes it doesn't really matter in the end. Good luck on the next one though, I'll see if I can make a flame shield for you.
This may be giving the episode too much credit, but I think Twilight meant that Miss Harshwhinny wasn't expecting the Mane 6 to greet her, but obviously she was going to expect someone.
Lol, I guess this is good to you since you disliked 6 episodes in each of the previous seasons. XD Talking seriously, I agree with you, Morrow's episodes are the only two that disapponted me in this season (excluding the songs). I can't believe it, since she made 4 of the best episodes in the S2.... what happened to her? Well, we'll never now... even because she left the show after the S3 like I've said.
This is one of the worst episodes of the series. The humor is the only thing good about it and even then there are episodes with much better humor. This is not really an episode to hate, but it's just terribly bland. At least, as you said, the characters weren't terribly out of character.
if i had to chose Games Ponies Play or just for side kicks i will chose spike at your service in a heart beat just for side kicks gets WAY to much hate,in fact, this episode deserve a bit more negativity then 'spike at your service',i dont hate this episode but i REALLY *cant* enjoy 'Games Ponies Play',for me "just for side kicks" is more entertaining but thats my opinion
Yep, it's a pointless episode that bends over backwards to get the happy ending... too bad it's actually relevant in season 4, so this is actually an important episode! Why did Dave Polsky get 2 really big, really important episodes this season? Hell, why did even get so many episodes this season! He's worked on 4 episodes to everyone else's 2 or 1! Sure, he only did the story for one of them, but still, what was so appealing about this guy that he got so many episodes in season 3! Sure, he's a good comedy writer, but if you want things to actually make SENSE, he's not the guy you want to give Discord's reformation to, or an episode that you need the Crystal Empire to be host of the Equestria Games. Yeah, yeah, the comedy; if I'm hating an episode, attempting to be funny will only make things worse for me.
This episode basically just ripped off the Oceans 13 hotel inspector sub plot... only made it stupid... very stupid... VERY VERY stupid, and then gave it a stereotypical "everything turns out okay" ending. Bull to the shit! MLP keep your ponies away from my crime/thriller movies!
I think it would be more effective if it was someone from the actual city because they would actually KNOW the city.
The girl was a mustang, and they're free-range horses who prefer open spaces.
If clouds dale hosted the games then that would mean there would be only pegasi participating in the games.
niftyrobo damn it logic.
+niftyrobo the logic man
+niftyrobo They could... you know.. cast the cloud walking spell on visitors?
Relux the Relux
damn logic strikes back
I love how Cadence teaches Twilight to stay calm and collected only for Twilight to forget said lesson. Just like how she constantly forgets to put the trust in her friends.
"Eat it harder" right at the end
John, I don't even want to *pretend* to entertain that train of thought.
Did anyone else question why there even needed to be a contest or whatever for the Crystal Empire to host the games? Couldn't the host thing be for regulations, to make sure it would be good for hosting the games? I honestly thought... the ENTIRE time, "The Empire lost 1,000 years... "ERMAGURD RD'S DAD!"
I think.
The biggest problem with this episode is that pinkie is the smartest character in it.
I think she WAS expecting someone, just... not them. She'd expect someone from the palace, like the princess, the prince, or somebody else important, not six random ponies (who DID save the world like three times, but apparently no one except Celestia gives two shits about that)
"This has been another pointless episode."
and then the "Equestria Games" episode aired.
+TehUndeadSpartan222 to be fair if this was an episode of spongebob he would have said its the best of the best
***** More like the Olympic sponge bob episode.
Yup
Does that really lower your IQ?! Now I'm worried............................
I watched this episode on Netflix, and throughout it, the audio was fuzzy. Anyone have that problem?
2:14 SUS
They could've just described her cutie mark end of episode.
I thought this episode was forgettable. Honestly, before watching this review, I didn't even remember what events took place in it, except the fact the Mane 6 were going to the Crystal Empire.
Cliched plot? Yes. But boy does Dave Polskey know how to make it funny.
00:35 holy shit! is that rainbow dad?????? i never even noticed that before!
0:42 A charming birthday is back for revenge!!!!!!!!!!!!
"the Eiffel Tower" hah
Definitely a guilty pleasure of an episode.
Agree!
When he explained how it probably didn't want to overshadow the finale makes me wonder if that's why the Equestria Games episode sucked so much.
Yup. Those are the writers for the S4: McCarthy, Larson, Rogers, Polsky, Powell, Fullerton (only one episode) and a new entry called Natasha Levigner. Morrow and Williams left after the S3.
No, I do not have a Skype.
I may need three or four, no matter what I say.
0:26 a different pony has rainbow dash's hair... yep,i can see the fanfics now.
Actually that's supposed to me Rainbows dad.
WRITE, FANFIC WRITERS, WRITE
Twilight must have not read the whole paper describing Ms. Harshwinny.
Admittedly, I actually liked Cadance's calming technique, because I was freaking sick and tired of crazy Twilight... though like you said, it seemed to decrease her I.Q. too. >:/

Hey Mr enter is the description a reference to Animaniacs
The one thing about Rainbow's dad I don't get is that relatives in this show have never been shown to share color pallets or physical attributes, but both of them have the same main and tail.
+jeramahia123 Well his coat is more purple like than hers, so I'm assuming her mom's the one with that shade of blue in her coat or main. :)
darkflame728 But that's the thing - Twilight, Applejack and Pinkie don't share any of the same colors with there family.
Applejack's hair is similar to her sister Applebloom's coat and Applebloom has the same red hair as Big Mac's coat. Plus Applejack and Big Mac have the same eye color and her coat is the color of his hair.

Yes I realized you used nc clips but I think that itself was a reference.
Are you Ms. Harshwinny
Kyle Campbell *YEAHHHH!!*
It doesn't make sense to host the equestria games in clouds dale unicorns and earth ponies can't fly.
I've been looking for the music for a while but I just can't find it. the 'rock' cover of the mlp theme you use here and in most every MLP review vid, at the end. where did you get it? I'm sorry. Please, answer seriously, does the anxiety relieving technique REALLY reduce IQ? I've been having doubts about mine lately.
It's a joke, i said it for the laack of inteligence of Twilight and the rest of the mane 6
God, thank you so much! I really couldn't tell (Not sarcastic x3) What do you mean You said it?
Lucios1995 Just a typo xD i meant "it" (that or my english really suck)
he said it* you mean. Thanks a lot ^^
This means that the only episode of the S3 you disliked is One Bad Apple?
This was the only episode if S3 that I truly hated, but unlike other episodes it doesn't really matter in the end. Good luck on the next one though, I'll see if I can make a flame shield for you.
This may be giving the episode too much credit, but I think Twilight meant that Miss Harshwhinny wasn't expecting the Mane 6 to greet her, but obviously she was going to expect someone.
If an episode gets a 3 star rating does that mean u didn't like the episode?
Lol, I guess this is good to you since you disliked 6 episodes in each of the previous seasons. XD

i saw this episode first. but agree, this one should have aired first
Well the NC was making a reference to that show to begin with.
So, would you consider this episode to be a guilty pleasure?
There was an ad for my little pony
when they said who better then us to welcome you they mean they dont have as much of a bias opinion
No, Nostalgia Critic.
Fucking bubbles!!!
02:36 for a failed ep thats a new record
my personal analysis of this episode: took me 10 tries to get through the episode. Predictable through and through. Worst episode of season 3.
This is one of the worst episodes of the series. The humor is the only thing good about it and even then there are episodes with much better humor. This is not really an episode to hate, but it's just terribly bland. At least, as you said, the characters weren't terribly out of character.

but thats my opinion
The plot was so cliche and if it wasn't for the humor then this would rank 12.

2:36 Is Twilight trying to seduce me?
Rachel N. Spaterost Their doing a cheer routine
Yes, yes she is.
I really hated these two episodes. They were way too predictable.
love it
The jokes were terrible too.
so do you have a Skype
The main 6 are a little dumb here.
0:26... RD's faTHER!!!!!
I would have given it a 2-star but oh well
cinnamon bun
I'm not a fan of this one as the comedy of errors is my worst cliche
KamekAdvance you can keep you movie ;)
so do you have a Skype
