As someone who is bilingual in Korean, I always watch matches from the Korean broadcast just bc of how much superior the Korean casting is. I'm not hating on illios, but he is right, why is illios ALWAYS in just because its the ONLY dive Control map? that's the only reason. i'd honestly like a truly random map pool, but could lead to absolute lopsided pools.

Honestly, even though NineK's english was hard to understand, I still found it more enjoyable listening to his casting purely because he would break down certain concepts and plays in much more detail and point out both macro and micro aspects of the current game that I would never have caught on from watching without his casting. The fact that I find NineK better than some of these experienced casters really says a lot because half the time I can't even understand the dude. Call my crazy but I'd rather that than casters who simply read off the kill feed with 0 explanations or spend 5mins glazing a player only to miss out explaining an entire important fight ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nah, the percentage of types of maps in a gamemode that go to a playstyle as an argument for random map selection is just dumb, the answer against that is just "no one cares if a gamemode is 1/6 or 1/3 dive maps", imagine if we go to a map that both teams suck ass because it was at random, it just makes gameplay worst.
I agree with his point (rewarding a team for being good on 1/8 maps being unfair) but I feel like ultimately it doesn't really matter. Even if Blizzard added 3 new dive KOTH maps to the game, Korean teams would still pick one of them and win on it every time and nothing would change (except that it wouldn't feel as unfair because now it's 4/11 instead of 1/8). Making the map pool entirely random would add an additional random variable that would make it like how meta is, where for a stage or a tournament, some teams are gonna get an advantage and some a disadvantage. Being able to perform under different conditions IS part of what makes a team good, but the random aspect to it also makes it feel unfair, so it kinda sucks either way really.
If half the maps were dive and he lost at them all he would still be mad lol his point is silly Blizzard should try to add more map variety but arguing there shouldn't be a dive map to pick is bad

I think Chris has a semblance of a point, maybe a better argument than removing Ilios from the map pool would be that KOTH should not always be the first map type.
If it wasn’t map 1 and we keep loser map pick, ‘Korean teams’ would just Instant Ilios Map 2 everytime and tie up the series. I don’t think they’d ever get rid of loser map pick and go back to pre-determined OWL map layout so it doesn’t make a difference imo.
He doesn't want to remove ilios completely, he just doesn't want it forced in every tournament. It should have the same chance to get into the map pool as every other KOTH map.
I think the answer to the illios problem is that the lower seed should pick the starting gamemode aside from (clash and flashpoint) and the higher picks the map so you still have an advantage but maybe we can see cof on other maps
Yeah the magic picks from LBBD7 and Quartz was nuts, you consistently saw the 1, 2 punch and someones just dead, hapoened to falcons for sure, but predominantly in thsie other matches it was nice to see
I also am not satisfied with the casting, they don’t give insight to what’s happening on screen only relay what’s already available. Like their idea of analysis is saying what ultimates are available and might expand on why the ults can combo or cancel out the opponents ults. Genuinely when teams would try and spawn hold the casters would explain it as if the team was doing it just because it seemed like a good idea at the time. And I cannot stand Jaws on Toronto games, he reserves his excitement for only Toronto and especially Sugarfree.
I cant believe no one understood Chris's point about Ilios. He is right; the team that is able to play the majority of maps in the game should be rewarded. Its like if a payload as a gamemode had increased playrate to give teams that prefer it a chance.
Not sure if there already is a system in place, but it might be cool if there was a formal channel or something that connected casters with coaches or people that understand the minuet details of metas more to help them with giving better detailed casting analysis.
I would agree with chris on the ilios thing, except for the fact that flashpoint and clash, ONLY allow for brawl. That isnt just one map in a game mode, this is 2 fundemental map types that are pnly good for brawl. Also it wouldn't change anything, koreans are better at brawl than the West so none of it matters lol
This is just a false equivalency. You are comparing two game modes to a map. If you suck at two game modes it's just a straight up skill issue, the game isn't tailored to you and something needs to change, but with Ilios it's one map. If you are really bad at dive you will always be disadvantaged even though you may be better at 7 out of the 8 maps in the game. The Koreans are obviously just better so removing Ilios wouldn't make the western teams competitive, but you can't really ignore that it is a little unfair.
we can say that now but theres an inevitable chance over time we end up in another meta like JOATs etc, adding hero bans gives insurance against stale perma metas we may get in the future
@@BeanPot10 With Juno out of being top, JOATs without her wouldnt be possible i think. Kiri-Lucio backline isnt what used to be. If Juno isnt meta, then Mauga/Queen OP rush wouldnt probably be meta and then i can see having a lot of diversity in the meta.
1:26:15 i feel like the irony here is that Nekkra has been bashed repeatedly for basically just reading off the ult screen, that she is constantly attempting to find other things to talk about like how Falcons didnt just completely fall over because Hanbin used a skilll to allow for disengage, but obviously the bigger issue is spending 2 ults and getting negative value. It's clear that Jaws and Nekkra are trying to improve but in the end if you fundamentally dont understand the game as well as those who do, youre working up a significantly steeper hill.

The casting was really bad for both events. Uber is great because he doesn’t just say the most obvious things that someone who doesn’t know about the game would say, and also creates hype moments really well.
As someone that was mid gold-low plat in goats era, I was fascinated by in depth analysis of the micro and maro of goats. The casting we get today is pitiful and makes me not want to watch the owcs stream. There have been times where unter, X, or atp aren't streaming so I just did't watch.
Stop bullying my Woke King Christfer. We need DEI!!!!
Uber talks like he knows what’s going on but tank gets booped off map you can see it top right but he got “bursted down what were supports doing”
