Yes the song is used in Starbucks' commercial. Many old school songs are being used in commercials lately. The Impressions'(Curtis Mayfield was in this trio back in the 60's before he went solo with "Superfly") "I'm So Proud". Lionel Richie's "All Night Long" in a Mattress Firm commercial. "Galvanize" by the Chemical Brothers; Tom Tom Club's "Genius Of Love" in so many commercials-probably because of that wicked guitar riff/opening! Mariah Carey also sampled the song in her "Fantasy" track! US3's Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia") is used in Johnsonville Sausage commercials. The groups take on Herbie Hancock's "Cantaloupe Island", combining jazz and hip hop as they clearly state within the song. Donna Summer's "Hot Stuff" in a Pepsi commercial. Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit In The Sky" I'm an Xfinity commercial. The list goes on and on! Oops, Erykah Badu's "On and On" might be next!!! 😊

@cynthiagutierrez752 Me too and I grew up in the Bronx. Use to ride the J train to my cousins in Brooklyn and always thought of this song. When NYC was dope!
Thank you to Starbuck's great commercial...good vibe and, although I've always loved the song, I would never have guessed the song's title without the ad and this post.🎶
My dad was an independent wrestler when this song came out and it was his entrance music still good today as it was then me my brother and my sister wore out this song on that cassette
Just listening to this jam takes me back to Summer 1994, when everything seemed to be making me fully transition into manhood and just looking at the video, from when the M train was still the color brown, the trains, to the style of clothing, and the hair, and even the quality of music was a lot better than what we're experiencing in the 2020's. I'd give a lot just to go back to this easier time!!!
I was alive when this song came out and it has definitely been in my pop culture periphery but I never really gave it a chance until Pat Finnerty pointed me in the direction
I remember the record and really liked it. It mixes a little of that "Heartbeat" by Tanna Gardner sound along with a melodic sample (the Na-Na-Na-Na-Na part) from Cannibal & the Headhunters "Land of 1000 Dances". Great record and still sounds cool.
The hook is from an original song (also played at football games by the marching band) is from a song called 'Land of a Thousand Dances'. He didn't write it, he's just singing it's melody over this beat.
I have come in search of this song on two completely isolated occasions, once for the opening, and more for the chorus. Good song with a catch opener and chorus
I have great memories of singing a Christian parody of this in Sunday School in Connecticut lol. I never knew that there was an original song until very recently.
I was in a well known department store in my home town and some young kid maybe 13-14 blurted out to the manager to turn this shit off... a couple of guys maybe 30-35 pulled out his wallet and said "I'll give you 5 to turn it up" needless to say that manager clocked out a little bit richer
I was 15 chillin on a boat in Madrid when this came out! I'm not rich. My dad scrubbed toilets to send me to Europe as a birthday gift. Te quiero mucho Pops!

@cynthiagutierrez752 Me too and I grew up in the Bronx. Use to ride the J train to my cousins in Brooklyn and always thought of this song. When NYC was dope!
this was my favorite song in 4th grade. so pumped whenever it would pop up on MTV
Ini Kamoze first album is the best reggae album of all time, good quality over quantity. No one can argue with that.
Thank you to Starbuck's great commercial...good vibe and, although I've always loved the song, I would never have guessed the song's title without the ad and this post.🎶
I’m so happy about all the people discovering this song. It was my absolute favorite as a kid.
Almost year 2021 and I still listen to this work of perfection.
I still love this song, it's classic! One thing I really appreciate is the art of it. It's just good on it's own with no foul, or shock value lyrics.
If you’re watching this in 2024 you’re going to have your best year ever
Turns 30 yrs this 2024, this song. 🎶❤️
I hope soon. Thank you . Same to you
cant wait for summer brah
Thank you and God bless 🙌 🙏 ❤️
Exactly 💯
Family Guy: S19 Ep13: PeTerminator
: (3/7/21)
Just watched it and had to look up this song as a 2000's kid I love it
Same, the good ending where Peter barely touched the tree branch, if u know u know
@@nuice1482 It musta been those new kicks he got!
@@Mike-sv1ye hell ye it was
@PieceControlSteve Noice! haha. I thought it was really good since I loved the T2 movie.
I haven't heard this since it came out, until it was on Family Guy.
Last time I heard this was on animes got talent and then on family guy most recently
Family guy lol
Literally the same 😂😂😂
Yee
Me too
My dad was an independent wrestler when this song came out and it was his entrance music still good today as it was then me my brother and my sister wore out this song on that cassette
That's awesome! What was his name?
Yes! What was his name???
Was your dad Flyboy Rocco Rock or Johnny Grunge?
@@mdf3530 😆😆😆 Really!!
Lol.
This brings me back to the days my dad would beat my ass
😂
Hahaaa, when I got older and bigger I would just laugh at him.
namfon khamphuang is that what your daddy used on you? that's tough.
+namfon khamphuang :48 lmao
it was my stepdad here.
Nostalgia! Was the most popular party song in the mid-90s at every party in the world!
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 brought me here!!! Great movie btw 👍🏾👏🏾
Starbucks Commercial brought me here Blessings and HUGS 👑💜
Sameee
Me too.
Me 3!!!😁
Yes!
What a classic
I was alive when this song came out and it has definitely been in my pop culture periphery but I never really gave it a chance until Pat Finnerty pointed me in the direction
Kinda feel the same way about No Diggity.
I remember it from fern gully as a kid
RIP Dr Dog
70 and thank God I m still finding things like this for the first time!
ira a vida de cada pessoa má
This song will never get old to me 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 I love it
My brother always thought he says, I'm the leprechaun gangsta!!! Still makes me laugh to this day
😂
I also thought that’s what he said
no, it's leprechaun DANCER !
i thought it was leprechaun mesa
Lmao say what 🤣
💃🏽Whose Still here in 2024!🔥🥳
Me (I just remembered some local DJ who had mentioned it in an interview thirty years ago) :)

Here ❤
Don't ask who's here.ask why we're still here

30th anniversary
I remember the record and really liked it. It mixes a little of that "Heartbeat" by Tanna Gardner sound along with a melodic sample (the Na-Na-Na-Na-Na part) from Cannibal & the Headhunters "Land of 1000 Dances". Great record and still sounds cool.
It should be mandatory that this is played at any place that calls itself a dance club, I don't care if the song is 100 years old some day.
+MissAmazanda agreed, sweets
me too, hot buns
welp it played when I went out yesterday lol
The hook is from an original song (also played at football games by the marching band) is from a song called 'Land of a Thousand Dances'. He didn't write it, he's just singing it's melody over this beat.
+plutorama rap is all about sampling fam, from its beginnings into mainstream in 80s. Without Samples I don't think rap would exist
I have come in search of this song on two completely isolated occasions, once for the opening, and more for the chorus. Good song with a catch opener and chorus
this is a masterpiece, only gets better while the years goes by!
I heard this beautiful song for the first time today at the radio , so happy I found it with Shazam 😍😍
Family guy really be bringing us back to these classics
The 80s and 90s were the best times to music, people dont appreciate old music as much as we do.
Old music sucks tbh
@@blurlover13 So why do you listen to it? 🤔
@@blurlover13 get off the channel then!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
@@blurlover13 Then what are you doing here? Ooooooh, you're TROLLING!!!!!
Honestly could argue that every decade was the best year. But for Rap & Reggae I must agree that 80s and 90s were the best and also the 70s.
I have great memories of singing a Christian parody of this in Sunday School in Connecticut lol. I never knew that there was an original song until very recently.
2:29 - OMG, that transition...
nothing short of _iconic_
Like “Low Rider,” this priceless gem will NEVER get old!
This song has always had a great groove I still give this a spin every once in awhile
I like this video much more than the other one, paying respect and making his country a part of it instead of showing luxury in the US
This song is still fire. Playing it at my wedding next weekend.
Oh congrats!
Very rare that a bride will allow something this good at her wedding you make sure to keep her.
how did it go?
@@BelmontClan Brides don't always have a say in it ;)
I played it at my Divorce!
Never gets old! Was so thrilled when sonic the hedgehog 2 promoted it!!!!!
God I miss the 90's...
Me too, me too
+4URLINOV Me too!!
Me too!
+4URLINOV 80 s too
+4URLINOV yea me to, theyre as fat as me.
Ini Kamoze, Another great Jamaican artist! Big up Jamaica!
If summer of 69 was the best days of Bryan Adam's life, then I would say that the 90's were the best days of my life..Remembering the 90's :-)
Great pull
I was in a well known department store in my home town and some young kid maybe 13-14 blurted out to the manager to turn this shit off... a couple of guys maybe 30-35 pulled out his wallet and said "I'll give you 5 to turn it up" needless to say that manager clocked out a little bit richer
I was 15 when this song was released. It is the kind of masterpiece that sticks with you forever!. It practically becomes part of your DNA.
Exactly. I was also 15. Last of the greatest rap songs of the twentieth century.
Was 16 Gen X we the last of the great generations
@@googleuser2609 Tupac, Snoop Dogg, Dre etc. There was plenty of great rap songs in the 90s to enjoy.

Whos here 2024?
My 5 year old heard a bit on a commercial just now and asked about it! I got sooooo excited!!
Here because of the Starbucks commercial. They obviously have good taste in music.
I'm not anymore
You know damn right
I am still lovin it!!
MY GOD FINALLY FOUND THIS MUSIC FROM MY CHILDHOOD 8 YEARS AFTER SEARCHING
I was 15 chillin on a boat in Madrid when this came out! I'm not rich. My dad scrubbed toilets to send me to Europe as a birthday gift. Te quiero mucho Pops!
On a boat in Madrid ?! 🤥🤥 no one goes to Madrid to go on a boat - it’s inland miles from the sea 🤣
@@thesatisfiedcustomer4869 Lol in his defense this was decades ago so his memory isn't going to be 100% accurate. Realistically he probably went to several cities in Europe on that trip and just got confused which city he had that boat memory in.
@@JRenee141 damn what a safe! + you can also chill on a boat on a river somewhere inland probably
This the Quarantine Anthem🕺🏾, playing this shit in 2021👏🏾🤞🏾
I been rockin this joint since the late 90s...and its still got fire
I love this song, it brings back good memories. I forgot who sang this song, I finally found it!😄
Fucke yeahs bless the little guys. The word makes me so strong band peace. And fuck yeah dad FATHER is walking sliding and jumping on the sidewalks. Fuck yeah.

@@Blacktolite technically, that's more than 6 years 😜
You could have asked me.. I would have told you 😂 about it.. I think it actually kicked boys 2 men off the #1 spot.. Ya know, back in my day.
@@Blacktolite he means he’s been searching for the song for six years 🤦🏻♂️
The percussion track in this is so dope and so underrated.
Still love this son.
Most underrated song. This needs more than 34mil views.
