y'know, I really like your upload style bc the individual parts are easier to watch as they come but these long, whole project videos are relaxing to just sit and almost have on in the background, very nice work
Amusing to see mention of Qualcast. When I was a kid, our phone number was very close to the local Qualcast number, and we'd often get mis-dials intended for them.
Great job on Suffolk engine restoration - full version aj restoration ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Nice looking engine there young man 👍😎 I like the oil dipstick instead of it being a totally removal of it to check the oil level just pull out the metal piece and check it
That's the first one of those I've seen. It looks strange to me compared to the internals of a Briggs or Tecumseh. I forgot to say, you did a great job. Good attention to detail.
first engine i ever restored was a Colt, cant beat those little engines... good vid bud, wish id known i have an original air filter i could of sent ya
Thank you, to be honest, I torqued everything to Briggs 3hp flathead specs, I could not find specs for the torque online. Usually if I cant find torque specs, I torque them down to tight and a little more but not too much haha gut feeling.
Hello AJ, you do really fine work . Love seeing old things come to life . I am in the USA and have restored a few old Griswold, Wagner and Birmingham Stove pieces . I have been looking for a Falkirk Dutch oven for a while . Very hard to find here . I will be in South Africa in the next few days , are these hard to find in South Africa ? Do you have an idea where I could find one to bring back to the USA. I am a South African. Thank you for your time and for posting your work .
Most secondhand shops sell these, you can buy new ones at outdoor warehouse, they have a few branches spread over South Africa. Thank you for the great comment!
@@AJRestoration Ah, I wondered if a new end had been welded on, but didn't notice heat colouration. I half expected to see it appearing in one of machinist youtubers videos for repair. :)
I need your advice pls, which sort of english-fine-screws have been installed on an old suffolk corporation mower? BSF? UNF 1/2 inch? I have problems to identify them and also to order. Im from germany. Thank you. Ben
Hi AJ, yes, I was able to find some fitting screws. The other ones, Ill remove the paint and perhaps repaint them if they become rusty. Did you also renew the Carb-linkages and springs? Where can I get them? Thanks! Ben @@AJRestoration
Witam mam taki silnik w Polsce. Suffolk 75g14 model no 21c. I mam problem potrzebuje kupić do niego pierścienie i tłok. Możesz pomóc gdzie takie coś znajdę do kupna?
I had to rethread it, I stripped the threads with the disassembly. I did not know it was reverse thread. I had it welded up and rethreaded with a lock nut and thread lock.
You do an awsome job and it's enjoying to watch you videos. But when do you realise that powder coating outside is a no go for the environment in terms of micro plastic pollution. In former videos you stated to change that but nothing happend. I do restoring a lot by myself and it's sustainable as long as you keep some rules. Chemical and physical protection of your surrounding is one of the most important.
Aaaaaaaaa!! First, you paint a Suffolk engine Lister Green. THEN you used jointing paper as gasket material!! You are an insufferable git! Just kidding. Looking great!! I will excuse the left-hand-thread issue. If I didn't know better, I'd think this was a Briggs 5S engine. It's a dead ringer.

Thank you! When I finished a series I upload them all in one video for those who prefer it like that.
Well done! It's nice to see older equipment as they were when new!
Thank you very much!
*_Like it, you did a perfect restoration._*
Super!! The motor is looking great again!
Thanks Benjamin, I appreciate it!👍
Looks good .. I prefer the red tank and recoil for colour.. but you still did a fantastic job..

Imagine that haha what are the chances!
simply amazing restoration 👍👌
Thank you! Cheers!

Ah man, that looks gorgeous! I very much love your content, the filming, lighting and editing! Awesome work, dude! 🍻🤘💜
Thank you Andy, i appreciate your comment! You rock!🍻🤘
Flawless work once again, damn it looks good. Thanks for sharing :)
Thanx buddy! Busy working on a old Clinton 4/5hp
Congratulations excellent work 🏆🇧🇷

Me too, that is one of my favourite features.
@@AJRestoration cool that is your favorite feature

It is quite different compared to a Briggs. Thank you!

I'd like to get my hands on a colt. The airlifters are really hard to find sadly
Great movie 👍
What are the torque specs for this engine. I asked also in another video without any feedback.
Head an sump.
Thank you!

@@AJRestoration Thanks for feedback. Briggs I know inside out - so I use the specs for 2,3,4 hp - they are all the same, I use that. Thank you!
I am a big fan of your channel aj happy new year!
Happy new year to you too!

@@AJRestoration thank I will take a look . Much appreciated
I will appreciate it, clean the sandblasting the engine, wearing the gloves and protective hands.
The piece that shielded the fuel tank from the spark has been installed in the wrong place.
Not sure if I just missed it, but what happened to the stripped thread on the keyed shaft? Did you just re-thread it, or get a new part?
I took the stripped thread to a local engineering shop for welding and rethreading.

Hi Ben, sorry for only replying now. To be honest with you I have no idea. Did you find what you were looking for in the mean time?

Witam, chyba już ich nie sprzedają. Nie jestem pewien, gdzie znajdziesz części.
@@AJRestoration szkoda bo fajnie było by uruchomić ten silnik
It is really nice work, but I am a little puzzled about the direction of the crankshaft threads at 44:20 .
he must of rethread it clockwise after stripping the original
Absent a left handed tap... what are your options? Use yer brain for something.

10:14 No head gasket?
It was stuck to the head I think
It needs the air filter if it's going back on the mower.
Yes, I am still searching for a suitable airlifter.
Did I miss the carb rebuild?
The carb was fine actually, I did a few cosmetics off screen.
Did not show the cam shaft being aligned with crankshaft. Gears need to be aligned with timing marks otherwise it wont run, you did not show this.

Did anyone else notice the surprise guest when the spark plug was being removed?
Did not see it. What was it?

Hahaha I love the Lister green paint. I have to admit it does run pretty good.
