Douglas James Bingham triumphantly returned to the open arms of his Heavenly Father on November 24, 2021 at the age of 73. Although his departure was sudden and premature he was surrounded by everything that mattered to him in this life and in the raging tempest of uncertainty there was great peace. Douglas was born on May 12, 1948 to Paul James Bingham and Maxine Briggs. He married his closest friend and eternal companion for time and all eternity on April 21, 1977. Douglas was a graduate of Brigham Young University and received his Masters in Business Administration from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He served the country he loved with all his heart as a member of the National Guard for 12 years. He lived a selfless life dedicated to his wife and five children. He worked hard to provide for his family and to ensure they never went without while taking no thought for himself. As a man of international business who traveled the world visiting more than 50 countries he ignited a passion for world travel in his family, always sharing his adventures through souvenirs and bedtime stories. Often referred to as “Disneyland Dad” he went above and beyond to make every moment and every occasion something spectacular, turning the mundane into magic.
He was a man of God who went about doing good. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Finland. A place he spoke often and fondly of and a people he deeply loved. As a true disciple of Jesus Christ and the embodiment of Christlike living he was filled with charity, hope, love, and kindness. This could be felt by all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. He looked at others the way our Heavenly Father sees us and felt a deep love for complete strangers before ever learning their name. He saw the world through rose colored glasses and could only find the good in everyone. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone and was the ultimate cheerleader and champion of the underdog.
Just days into their marriage he and his new bride sat on the footsteps of the St George temple and there drafted a family constitution with all the hopes and desires for their future life together. Serving a mission with his forever sweetheart was one of the desires he most looked forward to and talked about often. He was fortunate enough to serve two distinctively unique missions over what would ultimately be the final two years of his life beginning in Kyiv, Ukraine and finishing at the Nauvoo Historic Sites mission before returning with honor just prior to his passing. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints the gospel was central to every decision he made. He lived every day with an eternal perspective and although gone from this life we know he is reunited with his Savior Jesus Christ saving seats at the celestial table for his eternal family where he did all he could to ensure there will be no empty chairs.
He is survived by his sister Rochelle, wife Jolene, five kids Branden (Mindy), Sean, Justin (Lindsay), Jared (Brittany), and Michelle (Daniel), as well as his nine grandkids and many more who he considered family and treated like nothing less.
Such an amazing man. He raised some amazing kids. That’s for sure. Love you guys ❤️

Seeing you two crying seriously breaks my heart. I am sure thousands more are crying watching this too, myself included. He really was a loving and loveable man. God bless you and your family. Ashton crying so hard singing with the Grand kids broke my heart especially. One minute he's sitting on the couch joking with Papa Bingham, the next he's at his funeral. Such hard feelings to deal with for us adults, for little kids it's got to be so much worse. I know he will be a Guardian Angel to you all. 💖
It is so hard to lose your dad! If it is expected or took you by surprise! My dad pasted 6 years ago from dementia he fought for over his last years! It does not make it any easier! My dad had strokes too! He lost his voice but he knew he was there until close to the end by looking into his eyes!! It was so hard to tell him it was ok to go home! We would be ok snd take care of mom! That was so hard to do and yet we all knew it was the best thing to do!

I have watched four videos about this man and every time i find my eyes filled with tears. My sister recently passed away unexpectedly. She was my best friend, she saw the good in everything and everyone, and she made everyone smile. Papa Bingham did that to 1 million people across the country including me. Thank you for sharing this tender moment on RUclips with us.
My heart has been broken for all of you but especially Jolene! Papa Bingham was a special special man even thru YT you felt like you knew him!! I truly believe all these moments this last fall until now were God moments like surprising them at the end of their mission, the time for all of you in NYC like you said the time to lake Powell and watching your kids even at the last moments of his life! That video with him and Landon was so special then but even more special now! Sending so much love to everyone from OR!! I lost my mom 8.5 years ago unexpectedly much like Papa and Justin I had a moment with my mom like you did and I will always cherish thar! All I can say is when you are having a good moment look to him and tell him thank you because he is giving you that moment and when you feel the grief let yourself feel the grief! It’s a true roller coaster!! Time doesn’t heal all wounds you just learn to cope. Give your mom so much love!!
What a sweet idea to all wear "Thank you, we love you shirts" at his funeral! As a NYer, I thought it was so funny when you all were all in NYC and Papa kept trying his hand at the NY accent. I laughed so hard at that, because it was so true! God bless you Papa Bingham, you were the genuine article for sure!
I got to “know” your dad a bit in all the Bingham vlogs. He was always smiling, always a light! He will leave such a big hole in all your lives. He raised great kids-you are his best work! Praying for you all as you grieve.

So sorry for your loss ! It is a very hard thing to loose a parent. I lost my father in July and mother in September of the same year. Papa Bingham surely loved all of his kids and family in general. Again so sorry , he will be missed by all. Lisa

I still cry over his life in the few times I saw him in the whole families vlogs I knew he was such a wonderful man and raised 5 wonderful children and 9 grandchildren. And he impacted a lot of of people through the vlogs. Mona Jo was just as special to him as were his kids and family I am praying for all of you and Turin,Landon, Ashton, Ava, Madi, Ryler, Krew, Bremen, and Hazly as well as all of you will always feel is presents and know he was so proud of each and everyone of you

I just went to a woman who was an “adoptive “ grandma today. Lost my mom 14 years ago and dad 3 years before that. They were 3 years younger than papa Bingham. It’s so hard to lose your parents. I pray for your mom.

Yes, watching the children sing and cry broke my heart. I'm sure everyone in the family felt the same. Poor little Ashton! He was with Papa Bingham joking with him and Mana, next he hears he has passed away. I cried all the way thru. Poor little kids.

When I first saw Papa Bingham on your channel, it was immediately clear where you got your strength and love for life from. His physical form may no longer be available to you but his spirit is. Each and every one of you carries a part of him in your own character. He taught you well. He will never truly be gone because his spirit, strength and character is clearly visible in all of you. This is definitely going to be one of my hardest & difficult comments to post on here. I want to personally send my deepest condolences to you & your extended family. I mentioned this on the TIHWB Instagram page about my favorite memory of him & that was when Justin & his siblings went to surprise their parents. Douglas' reaction was absolutely priceless, he enjoyed spending each & every single day with each & every one of you. He is going to be greatly missed by us. He was a joy to see in the vlogs that he was in. He definitely was one in a million. I lost my great-grandfather in 2007 & my great-grandmother back in 2017, 8 days after my 30th birthday. They were an absolute joy to be around & miss them dearly. I send you my love to each & every one of you. Thank you for sharing your papa with us.

My sincere condolences ….. I have written on Brandon and Michelle’s channel and I shared my thoughts there. I so enjoyed your mom and dads presence on your channels. I missed them while they were away and when the 5 children went to bring them home I was a mess. I sobbed happy tears. What an amazing gift to be there for your parents. I know your mom is in good hands as the 10 of you will take good care of her and treat her like the queen she is. Lindsay … you said exactly what I was thinking ….. As I watched the service that was my thought. Everyone says good things at peoples funeral. I remember sitting at my dads funeral thinking of all the things no one was saying. My dad was definitely not the man Doug Bingham was/is (not that I did not love my dad and don’t miss him ….. it just seemed so wrong to tell only part of his story). While I watched I thought …. Lucky them. They had so many nice things to say and it was the ‘whole’ truth. What a testimony! He left this world a better place by his deeds and the example he set that will live on in his children, grandchildren and the future great grandchildren. He really touched so many people including me.
I know you’ve heard it time and time again, but your dad (and mom) are truly special people. Praise the Lord for their testimony. They’re truly infectious you can’t get enough of them! They made me wish to be a Bingham! It is a humble reminder that this life is but a vapor. Thank you Lord for Jesus and His sacrifice so that we may be with our loved ones again. The whole world mourns with you. Thank you, we love you.

Having watched Dan’s beautiful tribute to your wonderful Dad, you can see so many of the youngsters in the photos of Doug in his younger days. I looked forward to the vlogs that he and Jolene were in. I consider the entire Bingham family an extension of a family I lost long ago. I’ve never known a dad such as yours and I can empathize how much this has impacted your life. I’m so very concerned for your mother as I know she must be living in a fog, bound by a home they just built together but must conquer alone. I pray for each member of the Bingham family that you can ultimately find peace and comfort in all the wonderful years, love and laughter shared. I lost my mother when I was 32 and it will be 19 years on the 14th. It was very sudden as we had just become great friends. It still hurts so bad because of the years I missed with her, the lack of photos and the absence of grandmotherly memories. I have cried so much for your loss because of the closeness I feel towards all of you. But a Christians we will get a forever, it often doesn’t feel soon enough.

I’m so sorry to hear this! I love all of the Bingham’s so much and watch all of the Bingham’s families RUclips channels! It’s crazy that even just through RUclips and social media, someone can feel almost as if they are part of the family or know you guys even though I haven’t actually met you guys, but just because you all make your supporters feel welcome and part of the family. With that said, Papa Bingham was part of that and when I found out it felt as if I had lost someone and I’m sure others feel that way as well, but I know that it cannot compare to what the Bingham’s are feeling. I will definitely be sending prayers your way and thinking of you every day. Stay strong and I love you guys and the Bingham family so much!

A sudden loss is almost unbearable. Sometimes, you just want to lay down on the floor and wail. May God’s love surround you and give you peace during this time of grief and sorrow. Your husband, father, and grandfather reminded me of my late grandfather, who never stopped believing in Jesus Christ and did everything he could for his family, even though he is now in heaven. I miss Papa Bingham a lot because he really made me feel like I was part of the family. And when I found out that he passed away I fell apart crying because I really love them and I wish I got to meet him in real life but I also believe that there’s a life after death and that one day I will get to meet them and we will all be together with God. ❤

Just remember he put smiles on everyone's faces. Cherish the moments you had with him. Those are memories that no one can ever take away from you or your family and friends. I lost my dad in 2010 to a car accident. We never think that our loved ones can be taken from us. When they are taken it hurts so much. But I had to remind my family we are on this earth for a certain amount of time. Tell your loved ones that you love them. Never stay mad at them. Because a harsh word or words you say can be the last thing you say to someone. We all wish we could tell our loved ones that passed something that we forgot to say. Remember this your dad loved your mom and you and your siblings and your kids and nephews and niece. His heart was true and pure. He never hide his feelings from the world or you all. He will be missed

We live in Nauvoo IL. My husband is a security guard at the Nauvoo Temple. So he had the privilege to meet your parents. I was really hoping to be able to but never got the opportunity before they left.

I watched your Dad's service, I cried my eyes out! Didn't personally know him, but he was like a Father figure to many of us. He and Mom raised such a wonderful group of children.. Love you all!!!!
