We can say Islam is not the religion of this country now, but if we keep current immigration trends and birth rates trends, that won't the be the case in as little as 40 years time.
We're still underestimating how aggressively Islam wants to spread, and how patient those who spread it are, and crucially, how once a majority is achieved, how democracy can be used to usher Sharia in. They're playing the long-game, and while we keep flagellating ourselves over history, we're losing ground.

When I was a kid Christianity was the only religion taught in schools and that is how it should have remained. This country would then have remained a decent place to live.

Also, a lot of the violence is alcohol/substance abuse related (we are a binge drinking country after all, probably the worst in europe); the police have less funding and are stretched further than ever before. Not to mention a decrease in parental guidance and higher divorce rates/ deterioration of the nuclear family, both of which are good predictors of a child's future risk of criminal behaviour. None of these things are caused by a religion

Enrolling your child in a school because it produces great results. Only to then try and change the school methods is either sabotage or insanity.
In the case of muslims, it's both.
Especially as the key criteria which has likely helped it achieve that status is the lack of pandering to various ideological beliefs which get in the way time and time again of education and learning - particularly for kids who aren't religious at all.
Quite simply, if you haven't put in enough effort to check the school will be sufficient for your child before sending them there - that's not the schools problem.
Plenty of non religious parents for example used to try sending their kids to catholic schools that had excellent educational standards - and actually used to pretend they were catholic for the sheer privilege of getting in. Yet now when religious parents send their kids to public or secular schools they have the audacity to expect the school to accommodate them and their kids while fully being able to check if the school is suitable before sending their child in the first place.
You don't get to go to schools with good educational ratings and try to change them for your individual needs - they're successful as they have clearly learnt what works for their students and hence have skills above what the majority of student parents have themselves. Therefore if you have a strict religion, go to a faith school or if you do go to a non religious school it's you who needs to adapt to their rules not the other way around.
If religious communities can't respect the beliefs of other people which are just as valid as their own - then let's simply take all forms of belief out of non faith schools bar from religious education lessons. If you can't handle a privilege responsibly then you should lose it simply put - I see a lot of things which are "against a religion" yet religious communities simply pick and choose which they follow and are beneficial to them.

If their children praying during schooltime is a priority for Muslim parents then they should send their children to a Muslim school. If they think the Muslim school(s) is academically lacking then they should work to improve that condition.

I had numerous temp security guards working iny shop who had to leave the shop floor to go and pray, on top of their breaks, this isn't a Muslim wife thing I had one permanent security guard who too was Muslim, from Pakistan, he didn't go and pray, he was actually a great guy. You cant effectively ban Islam without getting rid of the believers themselves. For a law is just a sentence on a piece of paper. Islam is a conquering ideology. These people have shown not to respect the law of the land. The only true solution is to deport all Muslims. Religion, such as morning prayers and Christmas nativity plays was never a problem in schools until some weak-minded headteacher decided to ban them so as " not to offend " Muslims. There have been many other different religions in British schools for generations which didn't take offence at those Christian celebrations. Why is it that we are obliged to change our way of life so as " not to offend Muslims ". Why don't they change so as " not to offend Christians " in this still-Christian country?

And our wonderful British Jewish neighbours have lived peacefully and quietly here in the UK since around 1066, and no terrorist bombing attacks from them and making demands and trying to take over. See the difference between Judaism and Islam, quite a big difference I'd say!
Same with Chinese people. Integrated, but maintained a sense of their own distinct identity and culture, as evidenced by many major cities having China Town areas. Such areas are welcoming and friendly.

Same with diverse people from Afro-Caribbean descent, Hindus, Sikhs, and Buddhists. On the whole we are largely welcoming and relatively easy to integrate with and these communities have proudly kept their own identity whilst adopting our values and culture. They have enhanced our own way of life. The only demand I can think of from any of these groups on us is being allowed to wear a turban on a motorbike ! What a difference.

Not only should the Union Jack flag be in all schools, also in England, the George cross and in Scotland and Wales their flags with a backdrop of the Union Jack. We need to reclaim our flags from the haters. It may take a long time but I think ultimately this will introduce a much needed cohesiveness within the UK.

When i was in school I the 90s and early 00s we had Rligious Education, and it was what it should be, they tell you about the worlds religions without trying to indoctrinate you, Christianity and Islam were learnt about along side all of the others like the Greek pantheon and the poetic edda.

Most of these countries in the Middle East have private schools for the younger children of expatriate families living and working there. It's very common and in many cases Christianity is on the curriculum. The British embassy often runs them.

I will add that there are usually some compulsory local language lessons such as Arabic or Farsi, which is fair enough, but the normal curriculum is in English.

It is absolutely disgraceful that Muslim people want to change the education system in Our country to reflect their religious beliefs. Schools closed, Teachers intimidated, at least one teacher forced into hiding in fear of their life because Muslims parents got upset.
Maybe the British Christians should have been standing up for the faith. But of course, those values are about tolerance and love, not forcing and pushing and making threats like Islamists.

I really admire Katherine Birbalsingh as a Head teacher, we need more Heads to stand up against the movement to remove our customs and beliefs. However, Katherine's removal of religion altogether is not at all helpful, we are a Christian country and our Christian standards and beliefs should be protected.
Wrong. Christianity is a cult like Islam. It also has historical blood on its hands. Faith is the opposite of education. Faith kills the enquiring mind by teaching us to just accept outlandish untested 'facts' sold as 'revelations'. As a Muslim myself, this motivate me to migrate to UK to find job and doing dakwah. Im also encourage other Muslim who are in Muslim majority countries to migrate to European because being in muslim majority country make you unappreciate your iman.

I am now 70 years and I am the eldest of five children and I went to a Roman Catholic school, whereas my two younger sisters went to a state school. At the state school, they did special catering needs for the Jewish who sat on one side with the Christians on the other side, and there was absolutely no conflict no objections. It just worked so well and I cannot understand why it can’t be done with the Muslims without the need to ban Christianity to accommodate Muslims. I don’t get it?

Just imagine if a Christian family tried to force an inner city school to follow the liturgical calendar and have Christian prayer before meals or honouring saints, or fasting during lent etc.,..

This shouldn't even be an issue and should be thrown out by the courts. There are a vast array of schools catering to all kids depending on their needs and wants.

They should definately put the Union Jack in all classrooms. I love that about America. In India the India flag is everywhere and people respect the nation just more. I learnt about the 5 main religions of the world in secondary school. Not only did it give me better understanding of people I'm less ignorant for it. I also learnt a lot of languages so can travel to quite a few countries and blend in and not get ripped off. Knowledge is power as they say.

As an ex RE teacher I think children should be made aware of different religions including Humanism and different worldviews but no child should be indoctrinated in any religion. There should also be no faith schools. They should all be secular.

We fly the st George flag in our market place on St George's day and the union flag the rest of the year. We are still a proper English village for now.

I recall years ago a English headmaster in a school in Bradford complained that English kids were falling behind in their education because of the Pakistani kids not being able to keep up with them.
And a few weeks later he was told to resign or the school got rid of him because he upset the ethnic people of that area l think he refused to resign so they paid him off to get rid of him.
If we give in to these demands by stopping religious education in our schools then we are giving our English heritage away again

There are schools where they can pray, why not go there? It’s their right in a mostly secular, Christian heritage country, to force the society to take on their cultural religious ideology. You try to integrate and therefore compromise, in another country. They can pray outside or at home.
If you ban religion from anywhere, you’ll get something worse.
Parents should be able to choose a school to suit their values.
The problem is that many non-relgious parents have no choice but to send their children to faith schools. All schools should be secular. Keep religion at home.
