These are great reels I purchased a SG when they were Release Reels set it up with 65lb spectra and a 40lb top shot paired with a Seeker Classic 6470. These little reels are amazingly strong landed a 30-40 Yellow fin Tuna out of Catalina Island in SoCal as strong as the fish was at no point did I feel under gunned. Looking to purchase LGN as the next one to add to the collection.
I have sgn that I have followed these steps to put it back together. I had to. Take it apart because I got line behind the spool. Problem when reassembled is I can’t tighten the drag preset without losing free spool. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?
JUST PURCHASED MY FIRST SEIGLER SGN . CATCHING A LITTLE HEAT DUE TO THESE SO. CAL. FISHERMEN WHO SWEAR BY OTHER WEST COAST REELS . HEY BUT MADE IN THE U.S.A WHAT MORE CAN WE ASK FOR . WILL BE FISHING ON AN OVERNITE PARTY BOAT TO CATALINA ISLAND AND HOPE IT HOLDS UP TO THE OTHER REELS.
I did a clean of my SG are a year of abuse kayak fishing. Two tiny washers came out of the drag lever assembly and i didn't pay attention to where they came from. Are they seated either side of the drag adjustment clicker?
I’ve watched this video a few times. I love it more every time I see it! I want one but can not find it, anywhere. Can you help? What is the wait list from the shop?
Hey guys. been a huge fan of your reels since the original at but I have a question. my release sg. for some reason I can't figure out, occasionally while servicing it I can get it to free spool unless I put it on max drag. obviously I'm reversing something. any idea on what I'm doing wrong? great products great service , you have a customer for life here. Thanks
HELP My case: Friend of my son bought two SG:s from somewhere overseas( In the beginning when they still was "Release reels"). Kept one and sold the other to my son. My son loaded his with 350 yds of 50lb braid. So far so good. No measuring or testing he set the preset knob for the brake so that he could hardly pull out the line with his bare hand(directly from the spool), thats how we usually test the brake before presenting a jig to our precious halibuts.Doing that and reaching a point of satisfying braking force there was so much binding that you hardly could move the crankshaft. What is wrong? Something definitely is but I just can´t figure it out. Opened the reel with this as a guide an although it´s an SG it looked pretty much the same only difference is, this reel does not work as supposed. Can anyone help me? For the "lifetime warranty", who´s lifetime? I´v been in contact with release reels and they had a lot of strange ideas of what could be the problem, one was something in the line of "you have to much line on the spool, you can´t expect the reel to perform as specified with 3/4 of the spool filled with line."...?!?!?!?!? Can anyone help me to get to an end with this, is it a trashbinbuy or is it anything to do about it?
same prblm here,SGN max drag 30lbs,but when more then 3lbs the resistant of cranking start to increase follow by the more drag u put,so they should stated efficient drag is 3lbs as well!the thing is i stay in singapore,& how much it would cost for the shipping?
I've been working on my SG and SGN and this has been one of the best on take down and installation of these reels.
Thank you for making great reels. Simplicity is the key.

Are they white thin washers size of a quarter? If soo they go under the drag lever.
Great Simple Feautures Indeed.....No Complication...
I wish you would redo this and show where to lube each section.
