Thank you, S's H! During Spring 1971, I visited a friend at 17A Danube Street, Edinburgh, a few times. 'Ian' and his wife resided in the converted attic, with sole entry being up a pair of ladders ... Their living accommodation was quite plush. I/we knew of Dora and her exploits, as did most of our friends (mostly in the early 20s of their lives). The 'house of leisure and pleasure' was never a problem. Just another anecdote, S's H. All the best. Stay free. Rab 🍻 😎 🎲 🌠
My sister stays in Edinburgh. About twenty years ago, on a visit I mentioned that I had been to a salon in Alloa and gave it's name. My sister burst out laughing. The salon had the same name as the, ahem, 'licensed massage parlour' around the corner from her flat. It seems very little changes...😅. Dora sounds like a bit of a Cynthia Payne type.
As a wee boy my father took me out to the USS John F. Kennedy on its open day when it was In the Forth. I always wondered why the sailors had smiles from ear to ear, now I know 🤣
Love it. The origin of "fur coat and no knickers.'
Thank you so much for watching.
My grandparents lived in 104 Rose street .I knew her as Auntie Dora ,little did I know her real life but my grandparents did .
As a youngster you would have been protected from that kind of information I'm sure. She seems to have been well liked by those who knew her.

Very interesting indeed. Thanks for sharing that Rab.
I had Dora in the back of my taxi several times in the 70s. And by that, I mean in the transportation sense. 😳
Thanks for the clarification! 😄 She sounds like quite a character. Thanks for watching the video. I hope to redo it, with pounds, in the future.
Fascinating! I can imagine why the neighbours might have been upset though.
So can I, all the comings and goings at all hours.

Now you know! The ship must've been quite a sight. Thanks for watching.
@@scotlandshistory, Oh it was. If my memory is correct it wasn't a real sunny day and the water was just a wee bit choppy.
Maybe it was more than the motion of the ocean causing all that choppiness of the water around there?? @@gilbertmoyes2918
"Smutty History." Great story!
She was quite a character. Glad you enjoyed it.
2:10 Shows "Dora" counting cash with which she bought 17 Danube Street. Except it shows EUROS. 🤣🤣🙄
Yes, there was no video of pounds at the time the video was done.
👏👍🖖
Thank you!
Women were well cared for under Dora.
@@jonsmum5552 so I believe. Thank you for watching the video.
