    I'm only about 11 minutes into the lecture and had to stop and ponder what you brought out about the law of gravity. We don't have to know all the reasons and ins and outs of the law of gravity for it to work. That helped me understand that we don't have to know everything about God's laws for them to work and be demonstrable. Instead of feeling we don't know enough about the laws of God we should trust what we do understand. Letting go of fears and doubts helps clear the way for a demonstration of God's laws in action. Philippians 4 says " And the PEACE of God, which PASSETH ALL UNDERSTANDING, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." This was very helpful to me! Thank you so much! I can't wait to hear the rest of the lecture!

    All the negative comments below are simply not true. Prayer or meditation(which are the same thing) is the most powerful and harmonious way to become aware of your connection to the one Life. Every individual that has reached spiritual enlightenment, or has an uplifted understanding of the nature of God... has done so through prayer. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend spending your time attacking the beliefs expressed in this lecture above. Instead, close your eyes, become aware of the one Life that is God, and then once you feel that peace from within, feel free to keep on listening. If you can do this, and we are all perfectly capable... you will invite so much harmony into your life. I'm not here defending Christian Science, because there's no need to defend the reality of all things(God)... I truly hope that someone reading this, might learn how to calm there mind and learn how to "pray with certainty".

      When one knows the truth and refuses to obey it, he is subject to any lie, any deception, any untruth that man can conjure up. “For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools”

    • @seek77701
      @seek77701 8 лет назад +1

      I completely agree Phillip. The starting point of Christian Science is "love God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind." To turn to nothing but the Truth, and to acknowledge no other might nor mind besides God. From this perspective, when you bow down to sin, turn to drugs for healing, turn to error for truth, believe that evil is more powerful than good.... your not aware of the fact that God is the only Truth, the only Life, the only Love, the only Mind. Darkness is simply the absense of light. This was the perspective that Jesus and his disciples had when they healed the sick and raised the dead. They knew that sin, sickness and death have no truth or power over man who was made in the image and likeness of God.

    • @ringodingo6945

      +Scott Strickland That's not biblical truth. Sin is not an illusion my friend.

    • @seek77701
      @seek77701 8 лет назад

      Answer me this.... If there is one God, and the first commandment is true. "Thou shalt have no other God's before me." And your so sure than sin, sickness and death are real.... so God created sin, sickness, and death? God is both good and evil? Or there is a myserious power besides God called evil? So there's two Gods?? Didn't Jesus heal the sick, raise the dead, and reform the sinner, always in direct opposition to material laws? "You can't serve two masters." I encourage you to think on these things. What is God? What is man? Are you material and spiritual? Or are you completely spiritual because there is only one God that is Spirit? And I assure you, this stuff is defenitely in the bible. It's called the new testament. :)

    I was so glad to have found this lecture! There's an "issue" I've been dealing with for some time now, and earlier today the thing was pretty troublesome. Lately, though, I've "seen some truths about the situation," as Christian Scientists might say, and those truths make LOTS of sense to me, so much so that I've begun to not be so fearful. I've actually felt better about things, even though to my eyes the situation hasn't changed.
    I decided to give myself the afternoon off from worrying, and instead I listened to this lecture while preparing two peach pies. The message reinforced for me that when we get even an inkling of how good things REALLY ARE because God is good and He is, after all, EVERYTHING, then it's important to persist with understanding-based conviction (love that word!)...bring the worrying down a notch...and bake pies or something.
    Thanks for youtube-ing Christian Science lectures!

    • @jeffreynelson2660
      @jeffreynelson2660 7 лет назад

      Don't expect a lot from this church, unless the "issue" that you are dealing with is no more serious than the sniffles. All they have to offer you is placebo, confirmation bias, and little old ladies telling tall tales. Reality still exists, even in this crackpot church, so if your "issue" is real, you should look elsewhere. Or you might die, and the practitioner will tell your dead body "there is no death". My mother used to tell me that, and we lived next to a cemetery.

    • @angeljonas5021
      @angeljonas5021 7 лет назад +9

      Consciousness survives death. There is truly no death. We are spiritual beings living a physical existence. This physical existence is not truly our home. Read the thousands of nde's and the message they bring back. One of the messages is that we are here to love one another, take care of each other, other sentient beings and the planet. This is the problem with our world today, we have no love, respect, empathy and compassion. If we all lived by these spiritual laws this would be heaven on earth.

    The point that you have missed, sfincione2000, is that this IS the very explanation for what have been for millenia called miracles. Without an explanation based upon consistent logic, miracles remain miracles. This lecture is a super simplified presentation of that consistent logic. Christian Science does not at all claim to perform miracles. It performs demonstrations whose explanations lie in spiritual law, not in the material law upon which critics insist that everything must conform to.

      Stirling Watts, agains, which spiritual law? this is so Anglo-centric. I'd like to add that when Jesus told the man to take up his bed and walk, he first asked him if he even wanted to (walk). This seems like an obvious question but perhaps Jesus put it in a way that the man had never considered. I assume there was more to it than just the spoken question, ...like voice inflection, a look in his eyes and other subtle body language movements, which I also assume would come naturally for someone like Jesus who apparently carried a perspective and or level of awareness that would make all that come quite naturally, like the time I accidentally winked at a judge during court. Had I not been sincere, she would have known it and my you know what would have been thrown under the jail. As it turned out, she ended up respecting me more for it. Long story. Good outcome.

    In prayer: I would add the word "resonance". It is possible to pray without ceasing. I began to train myself to do this by not saying Amen at the end of a prayer but instead tried to stay in the spirit of prayer indefinitely after praying each time. Why not Zeus? or Apollo? or Thor?, or Krishna? they are equally believable (which is to say not at all believable). One day your god will be extinct and a new one will be invented. Christian science don't exclude the body science and health says you are the embodiment of all right ideals 2 Corinthians 6:20 so in other words you are dropping the carnal mind, false material sense, or fleshly mind from the human consciousness and letting in the Christ the manifestation of god that comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error. the human consciousness is the relative comparison. once you admit the only conclusion in your thought as the divine Mind is the only mind you will see healing, regeneration, and a change in bodily condition. Christian Science (Eddyism)
      Founder: Mary Baker Eddy
      Overview
      The only thing Christian about Christian Science is the name itself. The beliefs of Mary Eddy are so far removed from the Bible that it seems like she is in her own world.
      The idea of Christian Science came in 1866 when Mary said she discovered the "Science of metaphysical healing". She organized it in 1879 and it was founded on her book, "Science and Health (with Key to the Scriptures)" the last part of the title was added later. She claims to have received divine revelation in writing this book but not believing in a personal God; it makes one wonder how could she then get divine revelation? Mary simply took eastern mysticism (e.g., Hinduism) and pantheism (all is God) and called it Christian Science. The lure to draw people in was to call it "Christian" Science because people living in the United States even if they didn't like Christianity, still had strong roots to it.
      Mary Eddy said at one point, "I have marveled at the press and pulpit's patience with me, when I have taken away their Lord."
      Cult Beliefs
      Christian Science claims to be a Christian church and sings evangelical hymns and reads the Bible - HOWEVER, they read the Bible in light of "Science and Health". If they read something in "Science and Health" and it contradicts the Bible, it automatically overrides it.
      The believe there is no such thing as sin, it is an illusion.
      They believe there is no such thing as sickness, it also is an illusion.
      They believe that sick people must be convinced that they are not sick, then they will get well, since sickness is an illusion and doesn't really exist.
      There is no such thing as death, a person gets old and dies because they believe that is what is supposed to happen. This stems from the fact that they believe that the whole universe is an illusion.
      Their god is not the personal God of the Bible. Everything is god and god is good. Therefore, there is no sin, disease, or death because all is god and god is good. The whole universe is falsehood - an illusion.
      They claim that there is healing from Christian Science. Their method of healing is denying the disease itself, e.g., "I am not sick. I do not have cancer." This is not prayer but simply talking out loud to yourself. In fact, Christian Science says that prayer to a personal God is a hindrance.
      The believe women can become pregnant by a supreme effort of their own minds, a man is not needed for procreation.
      Man is not made of the dust of the earth as in Genesis 2 because matter doesn't exist - therefore Mrs. Eddy calls Genesis 2, "a lie". They take her word over the Bible.
      They believe that Jesus is not God, he was the highest human concept of the perfect man, but not to be worshipped.
      They believe that Jesus was never tempted by the devil. Eddy says, "He was tempted by the false beliefs in His own mind."
      They believe that Jesus never died because death does not exist, He just thought He was dead.
      They believe the blood of Jesus has no atoning value and since sin is an illusion we are not guilty.
      They believe that salvation is deliverance from delusion and entrance into Christian Science.

    A Catholic asks the Christian Scientist:
    We know ourselves through _knowing_ history. Some great question(s) regarding Christian history:
    *How* does a Christian Scientist know that all 27 books of the New Testament are God's Written Word, and that no books have been left out that should be included (out of some 300+ early Christian writings)
    *Who* decided which books were, and were not scripture?
    *What* authority do they defer to, to have decided?
    *When* did they do so?
    *Where* did they do so?
    *Why* did they do so?
    And... all Christians agree that the _writers_ of scripture were led by the Holy Spirit. Does it make sense that that God also led men to know which writings were scripture?

I've seen and received healings after my thought life improved because He also said "as a man thinketh, so is he." When I have error in my thought life or mind and soul, of course the body will probably manifest it. Would I give a religion everything I own or try to speak dress etc to be member? Of course not. That's insulting more than my intelligence because Holy Spirit is my guide as I allow Him. You should absolutely be taken off the forum for taking His name in vain. God bless. For when anyone treats me bad for telling the Truth about God I'm blessed. Christian Science teaches that sin is an illusion. The Bible teaches that freedom from sin can only be found through faith in Jesus Christ, which is made possible by his sacrificial death. (see John 3:15-16; 5:24; 11:25; 12:46; 20:31) So Christian Science doesn't exactly vibe with the teachings of Jesus. NO WHERE in the Bible is sin ever referred to as an illusion.

    Years ago, I studied CS and attended a local church with a focused eye as to the validity of CS claims. After closely examining the local congregation, I never ever saw one member who had "perfected" CS to the extent of either being healed or of living disease free. Every malady known to man, these people exhibited. There are some people who are hyper suggestible who when given a premise they "believe in" can effect what CS claims. These cases are rare indeed. What I saw was a group of people who pretended to practice CS dogma but could never "demonstrate" the miracles that Ms. Eddy (author of CS) insists are attainable by applying CS principles to their lives. And more to the point, this group would falsely claim CS benefits when no benefits existed in reality. CS demands that one renounce material reality as an illusion. This tenet of CS is one of its major errors.

      Read this:
      "The Christian Science Holocaust
      October 2001

      Many modern religions make specific claims which are incongruent
      with reality and the results of scientific research. One of the best examples
      is religion-motivated medical neglect which in one church congregation alone resulted in the death of at least 64 children from 1975 to 1995 (Asser and Swan, 1998). Many churches teach that to use medical care is a violation of God’s law, although the record of religion caused medical deaths is probably held by the Christian Science Church founded by Mary Baker Eddy over a century ago. No one knows how many persons have died prematurely as a result of
      rejecting medicine on religious grounds, but the number is likely in the tens-of-thousands.
      Ms. Eddy claimed her church’s bible called Science and Health with
      Key to the Scriptures was co-authored by her and God. Historians, though, attribute many of her ideas to a man that she once worked with and studied under, Phineas P. Quimby (Milmine, 1971). Quimby was an uneducated clock maker who eventually became a mesmerist and a faith healer of sorts. He once traveled around the country in a covered wagon selling a cure-all today derisively called snake oil (Sikorsky, 1979). He later concluded that neither his nor anyone else’s medicine heals because only the mind heals, and soon started
      lecturing on “the power of the mind” to heal."

      Chickee Xandar, you are another who was raised in this Cult who now denounces the horrors all of us who were raised in CS witnessed. It is deadly. It is a dying religion, and S&H is absolutely convoluted written by an unstable homeless woman. I am sorry you had to endure you fractured arm without help, and to see your grandmother's sad end of life . I lost my mother to this cult. Her death could have been avoided.

    One other thing: you say its (that should be "it's") a science because it's knowledge reduce(d) to a law (or laws more correctly). The problem with this statement (aside from the grammar) is that you are making the assumption that what you "know" is axiomatic, but in reality it is NOT. You probably don't know what that means but that's what Google is for.

    Not accepting Christ Jesus as your Lord and Savior is the definition of a cult or fake Christian.

    I honestly do not know where to begin replying to this. Aside from the total absence of grammar, the message make no sense whatsoever. Maybe you're not a native English speaker so if this is the case I can excuse the unfortunately low standard, but if not, then maybe you should read some books written in the contemporary world instead of the bible for a while to improve your diction.

    Science is the opposite of religion and there are no common grounds between them.
    You cannot be serious using the word science to explain prayers, superstitions and other dogmatic beliefs in general.

    Unfortunately there is no basis for the foundations on which he builds this pseudo-science. There's an assumption. That's all. And it doesn't take us well beyond clinical research. He can say it in his nice sweet voice all he wants but it's still circumstantial. Miracles, or what they thought were miracles, have happened since the dawn of time but one by one we have realised that these miracles have explanations. The difference between this and real science is that real science makes progress.

      Michael Schwartzberg Yes they do believe in this garbage. And I did for the first 18 or 20 years of my life. But no longer. My mother, and avid CS believer told me the amazing story of Mary Baker Eddy falling on the ice. She was told by a doctor that her injury was terminal. MBE prayed and was healed, and that lead her to discover the "principals" of CS. One of those is that medical science is bogus and ineffective and a lie. So, I asked my mother if the prognosis of the doctor that told her she had a terminal injury was bogus and a lie, in which case MBE's entire premise of CS healing was based on this lie. My mother was thoroughly pissed off at this and wouldn't talk to me for awhile. It was the beginning of the end of my faith.

    Christ Science people do not know or trust the Word of God, if they did they would realize that they fall into the same category of all other pagan faiths. For thousands of years, God has been performing miracles and healing through non-believers - this is a fact. God Himself says that many will perform healing and miracles in His name but will still not be known to Him. Therefore, healing and miracles does not equate to knowing God. Christ is able to forgive sin, which no person is able to do. This is what separates man from God (creation from creator). Don't forget that Christ was murdered, not for performing miracles but for forgiving sin.
    It's wonderful that many have been healed through Christ science people but it's a tragedy that they will be among the many who will be rejected by God because they refuse to accept Christ as God. Lucifer is the master liar and deceiver, try not be fooled by the many traps that he has laid out before you.
