I consider myself to be very fortunate, not for any materialistic reasons, but because I get it, why someone would choose to camp out like this in nature, in winter! Those that need it explained will never truly understand the joy of being there. One only needs to look at the guy to see the joy he gets from this, joy like nothing else can bring. Thank you for the insight into your life in camp, your Grandfather would like that you still use his enamel plate, and your Father that you still use your first Swiss Army Knife (I've carried a Swiss Champ every day for almost 47 years).
The best interview. When I do get out there I'll be in a minivan with a large clam for the living space. I'm a 70 yr old Texas gal myself and could do this in a minute if I could lift the tent and stove. What a way to live. Thank you both for a fabulous interview.
Hi sally When you get the Clam make sure to get a couple wind panels for the Clam sides. They are so so valuable. We have been hit with some high winds in AZ, UT and Nevada and boy have those panels come in handy! We love love our Clam! Safe travels
Hi, I'm in CA and the same age as you. I've always been adventurous. When my girls were little I would pack up the car & take off. I prefer the road less traveled . In Catalina my girls and I would take the back streets. I don't care for fancy shamancy hotels I prefer what I see here. Maybe we'll see each other on the road.I'm getting rid of my stuff. No easy task.
WOW! Thanks Bob and especially Brian for your articulate summary. I used to love to tent camp alone but 14 days was my max in summer (I had a job/young family etc). Now I feel like I could try it again with Brian's example. So Inspiring! Don't give away those campsites! I know where I want to go.
Been following Brian Galyon for about 4vyears now. He does an awesome job with his videos and he is very interesting. Tks Bob for putting Brian on your channel. You are the man.
The grass under the wood stove... Reminds me of the lady who grows sprouts in a shallow hole in the ground.. Could be useful in All Sorts of Ways! Lovely video!!
I did winter camping for about 4 years. Used kerosene mainly for heat. It was enjoyable to a point but I think now I could only do it for a day or two at a time. I already did a one night trip up in UP Michigan about a month ago. That reminded me of why it is nice to be in a warmer climate.
I love the man's spirit...and his courage. He's a modern day Jeremiah Johnson. Instead of a horse his steed is a Toyota Tacoma. Jeremiah built his cabin for winter. Brian built his Cabela's tent for winter camping. Even though I have 60+ years of backpacking experience and living in the wilderness, I would have to go into this realm of living in baby steps. My van and say, a Gazelle T3X or T4 tent with a Mr. Heater Buddy. I was debating on whether to get another Jackery for my refrigerator or a Bluetti. Seeing Brian's set up may have settled that issue for me. Bob, thanks for sharing this interview with us. Mr. Galyon is quite an inspiration.
Man you got it MADE Brian! You live in that beautiful pristine place and answer to NO ONE! Tent living is a little hard core for me and the cold wind is what's scary. You look quite comfortable, well done brother.
Wow, Brian, that is an incredible amount of work to set up and take down that massive tent and all you gear every week. Hats off to you!! I admire your skill! I feel the same about nature, I just don't have the money or strength to do anything even close to what you do. This is Fabulous! thank you Bob for the interview and Brian's tour!
LEAVE-NO-TRACE homeless camping!!!..... i did that IN THE CITY with a big/heavy black tarp, a bicycle & a yellow Burley "Bee" bicycle-cart. up at 5:15 A.M., pack up. & out of the park by 6 A.M.! (return after dark.) decades! still recovering..... :-0
Brian's channel was my second subscribed channel.Love his content and lifestyle. Thank you for you great content Also Bob.Watching from Graniteville, S.C.
Awesome video as always. I have an outdoor cast iron wood stove being delivered today. On sale now, Northern Tools 104.00 47lb free delivery. This video is perfect timing.
Hi its mike from arizona i thought i would check in and see how you and your family were doing lots of love and support from my family to yours hoping you are healthy and being safe love your videos love the content looking forward to more great videos to learn from
He has a public storage shed where he stores his gear, when out of season. So his summer camping gear and tools are neatly tucked away in it during the winter, and his winter gear is tucked away in it during spring summer and fall.
hardy guy thats what i do for my dogs in winter they have an electric blanket on their dog bed, built theidog bed myself from spare wood taking them higher off the ground. wood stoves work great in vans andtentsjust got to ensure youve got a=fireproof flooring around it
I love the tent Brian, you have it set up very well. I'd like nothing more than being super cosy inside with a snow storm outside. We are having a heatwave here in Sydney, Australia temps around 100 F.
What material are you using for your roof protector around your wood stove jack? I have a Trek canvas tent that I’ve had for 10+ years now, that has been a great winter tent, but I would love to add a wood stove to it. I’ve just been heating it with a Mr Heater Buddy.
How about some likes for Sierra's little Yoda ears. Love her.

The nomad chain of friends. I learned of Elsa and and Barron through Bob. I learned of Brian through Elsa and Barron. The community keeps giving.

Bob I know you hear this all day long but I’ve been watching you for several years and I just wanted you to know I appreciate you
Clean and simple, no other way to be.

Winter is very a peaceful time to be in nature, just have to be prepared for the cold.
Seeing the wildlife in their natural environment without people would be awesome!

What do you do with the wood stove and other winter camp stuff during the summer??? Do you pack it all it you car?
He has a public storage shed where he stores his gear, when out of season. So his summer camping gear and tools are neatly tucked away in it during the winter, and his winter gear is tucked away in it during spring summer and fall.
Amazing! Thank you Bob, and Brian you are awesome. Joining your channel. Love your dog! Great video.
Great presentation and plenty of tips

Love this video and his perspective. I love the idea of winter camping.
That was great to watch. I go out everyday and walk in the woods during the winter here in western PA. This guy doing winter in a tent is awesome.
Loved watching this. Love the grass ( ;
Handsome Brian, I'm envious of your lifestyle. Will check out more of your vids. 👍

Brian’s channel is one of my favorites. I really enjoy his videos and experiences. Great guy.
I love the tent Brian, you have it set up very well. I'd like nothing more than being super cosy inside with a snow storm outside. We are having a heatwave here in Sydney, Australia temps around 100 F.
This bloke has guts. Love the tent. One thing baffles me though is why have a tent when it's freezing outside?
Love the dog. Good man
Nice setup! Looks comfy - I use the same battery as well and I love it. Happy trails!
Nice. Happy trails.
Thank you

Such a shame they dont make that tent anymore.
What's the next best winter tent ?
So inspiring and glad this interview happened! I have been following both of your channels for a while!!
Great interfiew Bob and Brian! Brian - how do you charge the battery for a week that powers your fridge and (maybe) the heated blanket for Sierra?
In his videos, I've seen him charge from solar panels. Or he uses his truck when necessary.
What material are you using for your roof protector around your wood stove jack? I have a Trek canvas tent that I’ve had for 10+ years now, that has been a great winter tent, but I would love to add a wood stove to it. I’ve just been heating it with a Mr Heater Buddy.
Wow! Awesome!! Thanks so much for sharing 💜

Good video once again thanks
I watch both of them !
Brian is truly an amazing guy but I'm with Bob, you couldn't get me to camp out there in the winter for any price.
Love Brian’s videos!! ❤️💜
Thanks for the video. You forgot to ask him the two questions: "How do you shower? and What do you do for a toilet?"
Good one.lol
. . . ahhh, a place with no wind? I've had Wyoming try to steal my tent and take it to Kansas before.
