This weeks see Ash & I test out her unlifed un modified Ford Ranger.
We head over to Ormeau 4x4 tracks to see how it fairs. Nothing but a pair of Maxtrax to save us.
Great video! Cool to see stock vehicles in off road action.

Nice video, some interesting points brought up, some that I have differing views, but that is okay. Ash’s car is so clean, I thought that this may have been the brand new one that you have on order. If you want to have fun on a 4WD track, such as the Ormeau, then get a 4WD that is panel damaged already, getting a scratch or a dent isnt going to concern you, wont cost a fortune to repair. And preferably cheap. I’m sure Ash loves her car, doesn’t want any dents in it.
The point about it being a training exercise for when you go camping, is a valid one. If this was the exercise, then maybe you should have loaded the vehicle up and hooked up a trailer. Personally, if I was going to a secluded spot, that has challenging sections, then its good to take a buddy with a second vehicle.
Finally, i like the idea of using the least amount of accessories as possible, but I would get an air compressor way before getting a tyre deflator. Doesn’t need to be permanently mounted in the vehicle. Shovel is good to have as well.

I'm contemplating a d22 Navara for a rough 4wd to have so fun with, then the new ranger as the tourer..... But we will see what happens.
Air compressor is definitely a good idea, but I've done the cheap ones before and they just break down and can't be trusted. Last thing I want to be is stranded due to buying a cheap air compressor. I'll be getting another TJM one, but have to watch our spending till the new ranger comes 😬

I've been told a big fence has been put up now and it's a big no no to go there. Apparently there is still ways in but now you will get fines if caught

Is that a rhino backbone system on top?
G'Day Greg, correct rhino backbone and pioneer platform. Very strange unit when installing correctly. Bit noise at high speeds though.
