I hope someone doesn't skip the video just to read this point version summarizing the video. The video is really one of the most helpful you will ever watch for lifting and not one second of the video is wasting explaining unnecessary info. Please watch all the way thru.
It's hard to do it slow enough but the point in doing it slow is so your body feels and learns the balance point at every part of the squat. Helped me a lot!
I started learning weightlifting and it is a crucial element. It helps me a lot to do that slow overhead squat. No wonder why weightlifters are so strong, it demands many muscle action to be that stable!! (Nice vid mate by the way)
This is really good stuff man. Been following both of you for a while now. Amazing, wholesome content minus the ego driven useless bull we see a lot of on youtube fitness videos these days. Love the functionality, love the camaraderie, keep it up please.
i saw people with chicken legs doing Squat-Cleans with 120kg....people always think "ok chicken legs no strength"...in real life i see different shit thats weird
Really excellent video. Clarence, don’t take this wrong, but you make things look so easy in most of you videos, they provide great entertainment but not as much instruction (to the extent any RUclips video can be instructional in 10 minutes). These queues and general foundation recommendations are obvious after the fact; but coming form someone who directly benefitted from it made it approachable for us mortals. Thank you and really well done
I'm not exactly doing weightlifting but I really like to try out different variations of squat, so far I've been doing Back Squat and Front squat, and then I watch this video where you tell us to get stable, after that I tried out to do overhead squat just to try it out and it turns out after trying that it actually improved my back squat and front squat by alot, not saying that it magically increase the weight that I lift but more like it actually helps me to get really stable as I go down and go up during squatting as sometimes I get really wonky when I either go down and up. Really good tips that you share with us thank you Hadyn!
I've watched a lot of weightlifting videos, but this was one of the most interesting and useful. Thanks a lot! Definitely will be implementing some of that when I can access a barbell again
Fabulous! No chaff in this video. I love it. Note: Have you found that Olympic Lifting interferes with bodyweight skills? Planche, Front Lever, HSPU, OAC, Muscle Ups ... so forth. I don't know how many of those you have achieved, but gauging by the Maltese in your profile picture I imagine your bodyweight skills are preeeeeeettyyyyyy good.
Thanks! I didnt actually train them during this but I feel like everything was at least retained. I think if I was to go back to bodyweight right after this then I would see some good progress quickly but it's too demanding doing both at the same time 👍
You have a knack for explaining things in a very simple yet engaging and deep way. It probably means you really understood these concepts. These are the absolute best tips I think I've seen for weightlifting and all summoned up in a very short video. Thanks to both you and to Clarence. I'm really inspired. The first tip might about being stable might be the most important.
Hey thanks a lot! Yeah I was really surprised when I tried the first one and could barely do it. It helped so much by the end my body was just in the correct balance point most of the time
Point 4 is what i need to work on the most. After years of doing relatively slower reps on overhead press, I have a tendency for my elbows to be bent a bit when finishing the Jerk. I need to remember to really EXPLODE and EXTEND!
Brother great vid just what I needed. What is a program, how to progress. You look fantastic and showed a ton of progress in a short time. I'm fired up.
You have good mobility! For me snatch grip overhead squats fucks my wrists so I do them with my clean grip and it feels easier but I dont do the oly lifts as much as I'd like. Nice video!
Regarding the programming: -how much time did it take to actually create your 3 month program? -how much time was spent with your mobility? Was it incorporated into your programming? -was there any additional accessory work for arms, core, etc? Great vid.
Great video and thank you for posting the program. One question, if you didn't mind. Where it says snatch balance + oh squat, what is snatch balance? What exercise is that? Thanks again.
The pull for the clean and deadlift may seem similar but they really aren't. I found that clean deadlifts take way more out of me compared to normal deadlifts. Keeping your hips low makes it way harder. A good carryover for me was that my normal deadlift form became really good.
My numbers currently are where yours were BC (Before clarence) im gonna give this a go. Havent trained in a good bit since having a baby but i hit 77kg snatch and 102kg CJ
That's super hard to choose between. I think weightlifting is more well rounded. If you are good at it you have to have good flexibility, explosive power, coordination and you'd have a huge squat and deadlift from it anyway. However it's not popular at all. Like the best powerlifters have huge followings and can likely make more money from it. I think I'd choose weightlifting for the well rounded ness but it's a brutal sport and not sure I could mentally sustain the training required. It keeps it fun by swapping my focus often.
They didn't then but it's been another three months since I finished weightlifting and have been powerlifting since then. Now that I have been benching etc my upper body is a lot tighter so front rack is for sure more difficult now.
This was an awesome video. If you have never done this type of lifting but want to start where do you recommend? Also with terrible overhead shoulder flexibility how do you begin to increase your mobility so you can do these kinds of lifts?
Hey man, are those plastic clamps (jaw lock) 3:07 and thinner collars at 0:53 good enough to hold bumpers when throwing them from overhead jerk? I am looking for some economy and I am wondering if I don't need metal which they use in competitions. Thanks And AMAZING TIPS BTW!!!
On google docs, it shows only day 4 of training for week 4. Is this correct or is there information missing? The improvement in the video is amazing/inspiring.
Great video! Can't wait to collab with you again when all this shit is over.
Hell yes! In summer when I've lost most of my gains Haha
please post
If you ever feel the need to visit Belgium, me and some of my weightlifting buddies will welcome you with open arms!
Clarence we MISS YOU!
Ha, been wondering where you’ve been Clarence! We miss your videos!
1. Get stable
2. Program
3. Pull harder
4. Extend harder
5. Stay upright
Bless your soul

Easier said than done

Incredibly insightful tips, I've never seen so much useful information in 6 minutes
Thanks a lot, I thought it was worthwhile sharing what helped me most
Hadyn Wiseman has to a great time
Yup - incredible information! Thank you very much 🙏
make more clarence episodes. Clarence runs this channel now.
Unfortunately our next meetup was cancelled. Now its summer I'll be making more tricking content so you might need to wait a while 😆
Dude that slow overhead squat drill is genius, I'm gonna do that every snatch session now. Thanks for the awesome vid 👌
It's hard to do it slow enough but the point in doing it slow is so your body feels and learns the balance point at every part of the squat. Helped me a lot!
Obviously the god himself prescribed these workouts
I started learning weightlifting and it is a crucial element. It helps me a lot to do that slow overhead squat. No wonder why weightlifters are so strong, it demands many muscle action to be that stable!! (Nice vid mate by the way)
What a honor to be taught by the one and only Clarence Kennedy 🥺
Gravity: you can't just clean and jerk 210kg
Clarence: Go mutant strength, brrr
@Kamil S you prob couldn't clean and jerk 100 kg on juice but ok
@Going Home ok? i wasnt saying he wasnt and he is on juice
Clarence is a top online coach. Simple but effective programming.
Clarence Kennedy's programme really works ..... I think I have to try it too......

Thanks a lot! Yeah the fitness industry in kinda cringe sometimes
You are incredibly strong
That matters too
Great video!
Salute from Spain
Amazing. You're lucky to have worked with such a legend!
5 sets of squats a day keeps the chicken legs away!
20 reppers are where it's at
That is a shit ton of squats for just not having chicken legs.
i saw people with chicken legs doing Squat-Cleans with 120kg....people always think "ok chicken legs no strength"...in real life i see different shit thats weird
@@hanswurst1541 Wtf is your idea of chicken legs?
5*3 = 5 sets * 3reps or 5 reps * 3 sets ?¿?¿

As someone who started WL recently, this helps a ton! Thanks man!
No problem dude

Great video! I’m going to take note of those 5 pointers, much appreciated. I know the program was customised for you but are you able to share it?

This is awesome progress, wish I had someone like Clarence around just to put me a programme in😄
Got the flexibility your set

Getting trained in person from Clarence. That’s Fantastic!!!!
That was fcukin mad. You made some great improvements over a short time, good work
I will watch this every morning.

Wow great progress!!!!!!!
Really great video ! Thank you for sharing the informations and congrats on your new PBs !
You really are an all rounder love to see a weightlifting block after your powerlifting block and comp!
Yeah it's definitely fun, I think I'll try some bodyweight stuff for a block next but weightlifting could be something to level back in up
I’ve been watching your videos because of Clarence and I just realized I wasn’t subscribed, sorry for the late sub and like !

Nice vid Hadyn. Do you find that your biceps get in the way of your front rack position?
They didn't then but it's been another three months since I finished weightlifting and have been powerlifting since then. Now that I have been benching etc my upper body is a lot tighter so front rack is for sure more difficult now.
Can you do a video on how you periodize freerunning and weightlifting?
Good tips, thanks!
This was an awesome video. If you have never done this type of lifting but want to start where do you recommend? Also with terrible overhead shoulder flexibility how do you begin to increase your mobility so you can do these kinds of lifts?
Start with light weight and do some shoulder press with the bar and get Into the right positions, over time your mobility will improve
@2:13 love the "YAAASSS!" hahaha
Hi I had two questions:
1. What did you do in week 4?
2. What are the percentages for eache week and exercises?
Thanks, great video!
It was a linear continuation of weeks 1 to 3. My start maxes were around 80 and 100 so can figure % from there
Best tips for weightlifting = be Clarence
Thank you for the video.
Amazing video =)
Wow that soft elbows and extend harder is a really new one for me. Is it like pushing your shoulders up to your ears?
More just locking elbows than in the shoulders. I just push up as hard as I can and keep pushing even once its up
Great video man really helpful. WAs just wondering how to stay more upright in the overhead squat as I allwys end up leaning forward
You'll need olympic lifting shoes if you dont already?
Do you exercise for lats like rows and pull ups while focusing on Olympic weightlifting? Or it is not so important
Nope as the lifts themselves have quite intense pulling movements
Hey man, are those plastic clamps (jaw lock) 3:07 and thinner collars at 0:53 good enough to hold bumpers when throwing them from overhead jerk? I am looking for some economy and I am wondering if I don't need metal which they use in competitions. Thanks
And AMAZING TIPS BTW!!!
Yeah they should be good enough
Do you have a Supertotal program or know where I can find one please? I'm coming from a powerlifting and bodybuilding background.
I know this is old, but question. Did you strictly follow weightlifting for the program. Did you implement any powerlifting into it? Thanks!
this guy is amazing....
