Awesome primer on Architecture approaches. I only wish the horde of self-anointed EAs in large enterprises understand these fundamentals before facilitating change
BA Guild’s BIZBOK or The Open Group’s O-BA are architecture frameworks that highly focus on value realization. Those mostly relate to the motivation/strategy layer, put into motion on phase A of the ADM
In the context of the incremental approach, doesn't it require upfront modeling for the current state and future state? That is, in order to be able to know that I am deviating from the target and also make corrective actions towards the target so that I eventually get there, I need to know the target and my current state at all times. In essence, that means I have to keep two ever-changing models up to date, which was the issue with the MDA approach. I feel I am missing something! 🤔Thanks for any information and feedback in advance.
Not necessarily. You see, the "future state" is not a model, but rather a VISION of where you would like to end up eventually. It's that vision that's constantly changing, so there's really nothing to "keep up" or maintain from a future state perspective-only a direction to move forward in.

the game of chess example was just fantastic !!
Glad you liked the metaphor!
Great analogy and well explained, simply precise and perfect. Thanks for such a concrete and concise content.
Thank you. Which resources do you recommend to master incremental and value driven approach? Is there any framework that incorporates them?

Great video, but I'm slightly confused whether these 3 approaches are supposed to work independently or are they a tripod for modern EA?
They can be done independently from one another or combined. In the chess example I gave, I actually combined all three approaches.
How the adaptive approach used in Chess and also in real life projects may be insurance company?
