It is so inspiring to see that you guys genuinely care for each other. I have (after 12 weeks in moab and colorado) seen the opposite and it gives me a big smile to see that not all hope is lost. I have been catching up on your content and just hearing you speak with passion and commitment and developing new communities is really cool. 1/24/2022 I traded my long bed 4x4 tacoma for a gladiator rubicon and this is a great place to land to learn about all that and overlanding too. I put 4000 miles offroad May-July 2021 so very familiar with tons of places featured in your videos.
Thanks!! There’s more camper footage coming in part 2. It does really well but I did manage to bend an axle on Taylor Pass and it needs larger tires so I have to figure that out.
Last time we took Medano Pass, we started at the hiway and went up to the back entrance of Great Sand Dunes. At the last water crossing, we found out the entrance was closed due to a washed out road and had to turn around and head back down. So technically, we did the trail twice in one day. 😄
That primitive road over Medano Pass has washed out severely twice already this summer (2020) and has been rebuilt. Glad you didn't get stranded on your way.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures Yes, recently there were a couple of torrential rainstorms and the road washed away to a depth of 20 feet or so, but it was in a sandy area and the Park Service was able to fill and repair the washouts using a huge front loader. One group was trying to get down to the dunes and had to turn around and drive back over and out to Westcliffe to restage the rest of their trip. It really is the wilderness out here.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures The park service posted a picture or two on their facebook page when it happened. The washout happened near the Sand Pit Picnic Area. The previous washout was in a different location and the pictures have been either removed or outdated. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed that route. I live not far from there on the east side of the mountains and have experienced a couple of those rainstorms. Weather here can always get weird this time of year.
I was about a week behind you all on that pass. I just did some different routes. I live in New Mexico, and we have some great trails, but Colorado is my happy place.
Spent a week in this area with a Jeep. It was a blast, but I have to say that I'm going to return to the area with a side by side. You can just cover so much more ground, so much more quickly. Too fun!

All these different videos I've watched wondering when the will make a full Movie . Maybe something comical or something like Wildhogs movie . Might be kinda funny an adventure movie with a twist lol.
I got a question for you guys. The ones that are pulling trailers behind them and you're going downhill on a narrow trail and you meet somebody that's coming up hill and there's nowhere to pass. Who has the right of way. Usually the person going uphill has the right away cuz it's harder to back down but you're pulling a trailer behind you. Are you going to back up all that way or do you expect him that's coming? Uphill that he has to back down. That's just a question. Can you answer that for me?
If pulling a trailer or in a larger group I use common sense and the person coming uphill pulls over because you can’t back up a trailer on a shelf road or 6 rigs can’t pull over for the one or two coming up.
First video I’ve watched of yours, you did great! Excited to see where this channel goes! I’m starting my own channel for a similar series, super excited. Best of luck to you guys!
You got me all excited. lol. I've zoomed in on the footage and it's not a bear. It's just a big clump of the same stuff that's on the lower limb as we drive by.
We are all using Midland GMRS radios. They are awesome. I've got the MXT275 in my Jeep and use one of their handheld GMRS radios for outside the Jeep when spotting.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures I've got my GMRS call, and ordered a repeater capable GMRS hand held. We've got a really nice repeater nearby I talk on with the regulars several times a week. Define "wheeling"...do you consider driving your rig on anything that isn't paved as "wheeling"? I'm just curious how folks use certain terminology. I'm trying to determine if maybe it varies from region to region, type of rig the have or if it's specific to whatever circles they run with or maybe wheeling is just a generic term that Overlanders use thay encompasses a wide range of things because if someone asked me if I wanted to go on an epic 9 day wheeling trip & majority of the stuff we do is leveled dirt roads & water crossings I'd be asking someone to put me out of my misery. In my world, someone says, "wheeling" with 7 other rigs I'm thinking...1 ton axles, 40" tires, lockers, hydro assist & beadlocks.
