  • Particle breakage inside a hammer mill was simulated using EDEM 2.4.1 Academic edition.
    Particle replacement and Bonded particle model was used.

    Yeah the bonded particle model is a default one..
    and particle replacement is another module which you have to give as an API module which will replaces existing particles with a clump of meta particles for this the coordinates of meta particles which form a clump should be given as an input...if you have EDEM software you can do the Bonded particle tutorial where it is explained well...hope this helps you.

    in that case you will have two options
    1. u can directly use Bonded particle model(BPM) where u will generate particles of particular number and then bond is applied among them like in below reference paper
    Simulation of the breakage of bonded agglomerates in a ball mill by Metzger etal
    or
    2. You have to combine Particle replacement and BPM an example of Ball mill particle breakage is given in EDEM tutorial (not snookers one)

    Is this simulation include the new particles as of varying size distribution or the daughter particles are of the same size.

      Daughter particles are of the same size..as of now i don't know if size distribution of daughter particles can be incorported in EDEM

    EDEM contains an inbuilt module to use that option...
