I have noticed it. Just look at all the adverts on tv. The black population is about 11 or 12 percent but the tv adverts make it look like 75 percent,. I then sat through a presentation of degrees to mostly minorities, the larger percentage of which were women. Nobody mentioned the lack of working class white males…

Another way to look at it, is Lenny Henry wouldn’t have had the first series commissioned, if it wasn’t for the colour of his skin.
He has a huge chip on his shoulder and is always playing the race card, but in reality the only reason the BBC gave him his own series and other 'work' was because of his skin colour, they were desperate to have a black comedian on the screens - the fact he is not funny doesn't concern them. - but undoubtedly his best 'work' was when he was on the black & white minstrel show.
Few people under 40 years of age have heard of Lenny Henry. He's not a funny person just look at the crap he used to spew out under the guise of comedy.

It should be noted that after he won New Faces, Henry went on to do a guest comedy spot on The Black and White Minstrels. In 1995 I saw him perform for an audience of expats in Bahrain. He was mind numbingly awful. There is nothing worse than seeing a comedian having to work hard at being funny (and thinking he is) and failing miserably. But now it is his self righteous, sanctimonious pontificating that is so nauseating.

OK I admit it! I am WHITE, BRITISH, 65, STRAIGHT and probably RIGHT or EXTREME RIGHT as the London Police Commissioner would describe me and of course ANTI-VAX, and wildly RACIST to but there does come a point where I am actually quite normal and if Mr Henry wrote something that wasn't up to scratch then his colour, race or sexuality does not come into the equation. We don't need more TV we need less. We are flooded with crap and no matter who makes it there needs to be someone who says no. Mr Henry obviously ran into one!
This guy was incredibly popular and successful around 40 years ago, a favourite on the TV. His shows were always well watched, big viewership and enjoyed by millions. How he can now cry racism is an oddity especially with his experiences of being a household name.

ITV dropped the drama because it was not getting high enough viewing figures which the advertisers wanted for their money. If viewers are not watching this drama because they are racist then why do advertisers think their commercials will persuade them to buy their clients' goods and services?

When i was younger, i used to watch the Lenny Henry show. Loved it, couldn't wait until the next episode. Many people over the years have watched and enjoyed Lennys shows. Unfortunately, his own stupidity has now clouded and destroyed what was good. Cannot stand the man anymore.

Like so many of our woke comedians, dull, dull,dull. I wouldn’t knowingly go anywhere near anything he was involved with.
I remember when so-called alternative comedy first appeared around 1980. It largely depended on bad language and infantile humour. It was obviously invented in universities by middle class students to appeal to the tastes of the lower orders as they were seen and sadly it worked. American humour is largely intelligent and sophisticated by comparison. The alternative comedians derided previous old school comedy yet it was often superior if sometimes flawed( the two Ronnie's for instance). Morecambe and Wise, Some Mothers Do 'ave 'em, Porridge,Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads, and so many others of the sixties and seventies. These were written by real talent and would often contain real social observation the comedy often blended with pathos. The new comedy which included Henry couldn't compete and took the only path it felt was revolutionary but was in fact degenerative. Typically left - wing.

Lenny Henry came out dod a tour years ago in Australia maybe 20 yrs. He recieved somewhat ordinary reviews and people were walking out as he was boring as watching a cockroach crawl up a wall. He only did one tour. Used the R word and the media here basically called him a book. Fortunately for us, unfortunately for the UK as you don't get the benefit of a break, sadly, alas, he has not been back and we are all the better for his wise decision to not return.

I always thought Mr Henry was an early example of diversity hiring. His mediocre impressions of Frank Spencer bring to mind the Samuel Johnson's remark about a woman preaching; it is like a dog's walking on his hind legs. It is not done well; but you are surprised to find it done at all.
Perhaps the BBC should repeat Mr Henry's early appearances on the Black and White Minstrel Show.

I'm white, I got a halfbrother and halfsister who are black, I love them very much, they are my family, but I have NEVER EVER heard them talk about race, racism, blacks, whites, pinks or any colour. He’s a proper TW@ is old Lenny. I once saw him live when he was about nineteen, I was just a young lad on holiday with my parents. My dad loved the old jazz music, the Al Jolson style so he took us to a black and white minstrel show. It was great, Lenny brought the house down telling jokes and doing impressions. He didn’t mind taking the piss out of himself to further his career back then. “Different times”.
You know what they say -- when you're a hammer, everything looks like a nail. I understand the tendency of black people to see negative treatment of any kind as racially motivated. I once pointed this out to a black friend who said she'd been black all her life and knew that the traffic police had it in for black drivers. I responded that she hadn't the experience of growing up white and being treated rudely by the traffic police, which my white self had been. The only difference is that I would age out of being young and would eventually look more respectable and, one hopes, prosperous. Now that my hair is white and I drive a better car, the traffic police practically apologize for pulling me over. The truth is that police size you up according the the trouble they think you are going to be for them and treat you accordingly. It isn't fair, but it's universal.
Well, actually it's fair. Profiling. Cops have to profile as they can be at risk of being shot dead during a traffic stop or lured into any number of traps by a black with a gun.
If black dramas attracted discrimination, a single series wouldn't be screened in the first place.
