Wakeman is doing FINE today, and l literally PRAY ...HE will make it to Sion! Dont care much about ''famous peeps'' .....only Wakey. ...for some reason ...
The problem isn't with Wakeman but with the christian cult. Personally, as a non-religious person, I don't hate christianity or any religion. But I do hate the people who say they represent a religion or worse, that they are the voice of a god on Earth and that what they are saying is the irrefutable truth. Apologetics are proof they are wrong and that their 'truth' is just a means to their end. Their end is instilling fear to make a profit and stay in control.
Rick is a Christian. I know he is. He is a very good friend of mine. He doesn't feel that he is "born again" because he's always been a Christian since he was a child. Don't judge, people.
BTW, He was going off of a total of 4 hours of sleep over the previous 48 hours. So, his coherence here and, moreover, his top notch performance prior to the interview were quite astounding.
Kerry Livgren was also on the 700 club with bass player Dave Hope ( both from the band Kansas if you are unaware ) Kerry is the one who wrote 90% of Kansas's music. Also the main keyboardist AND guitarist. EXCELLENT musicians, EXCELLENT band!!
I become an avid Kansan and Yes fan around the same time. Genesis and King Crimson soon followed. Crazy about Prog Rock. Rush led me into all of these groups.
I knew Rick Wakeman personally also, He is not a Christian, If He were, he would not be part of the Occult Society of Freemasonry, which I might point out is a Luciuferian Society, and this is documented in their on VSL and stated by a 33rd degree Freemason Albert Pike. In addition, you can only be a Christian if you are Born again, I would also like to point out, certain characteristics of RW are certainly not Christian.
Well of course they always have, but its specifically spiritual, not religious...Jon has been responsible for almost all lyrical content, but from a nature-based pagan perspective, not a christian one.
This was in March of 1993. I saw his solo acoustic performance at Founders Inn before the interview. I even had a chance to speak to Wakeman and his long time friend and author of his biography Dan Wooding. Great people.
No wonder Rick never liked Tales From Topographic Oceans. "Alternate histories" apparently don't sit well with his upbringing. Well, at least we got Awaken out of him. Personally, I think Christianity CAN contain a great deal of purification power and this must be why he and Jon still get on quite well.
Despite how much I loved Rick's return for Going For The One and Tormato, I love Topographic Oceans but I do understand why it went a direction away from what he liked. He made an analogy of the direction Yes went between 1973 and 1977 with the shape of an egg. Start together, move apart and then converge again. Awaken is a masterpiece.
@@PrZemek44 I can tell you personally that when I met Steve Howe in June I told him after he signed Tales for me(haven't listened, just got it to sign) and told him I intended on meeting Rick and having him sign it he said "oh good luck with that he thinks the lyrics are rubbish"
Rick, l love GOD, l love YES, and l love you. l pray that you're doing well, and that l can see you in heaven. We can sit with Jesus and talk music, God willing. You could be in playing the BEST music for eternity! l hope you still walk with Him. ps. l'm nervous about the Templar/Masons. Please don't serve them. Still love ya though. xD
Dave Wendt l hate any ''cabal''. Lots of organizations do things under the guise of 'philanthropy' to make themselves look good. Hell Angels do it, the Clinton Foundation too.
Two million people barely satisfy. Two hundred women watch one woman cry, too late. The eyes of honesty can achieve. How many millions do we deceive each day?
Your gift may be putting out folding chairs for a church event - you never know who may sit in that chair and what kind of life change they may have while sitting there.
The universe is ever expanding and the natural laws of physics should tell you there is a supreme being. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction (The big bang) someone or something had to start all this, It's the law. Think about it.
ballsz4156 But I don't think there's just a big bang I think the universe has always been expanding and Contracting expanding and Contracting going from one big bang and then shrinking because I believe the universe has been basically breathing in and breathing out and breathing in and breathing out and it is almost too much to comprehend... but I don't believe it just happened by accident that's for sure... even when you look at fractals and all that you know there's some kind of a super intelligent beautiful power out there somewhere that is all good
The song! Wait! I wanna hear the song!!! What about the song?? Don't cut it off! Where's the song! He's been given a gift, alright! So let's hear it! So stoked to find this! I always had heard that he was a believer! So cool! Will put it with my interview videos with Alice Cooper, the original lead singer from Korn, and Mark Farner! Fantastic! Thanks for this! But please up load the song!!!
Rick was maybe one of the more "real christians" that "the club" usually had on. IMO real believers ultimately don't care so much about following an established "religious mold". They crop up anywhere, out of any kind of circumstance, and will probably not look or sound like what most folks are conditioned to expect.
A good Christian Lad who went forth and multiplied and multiplied and multiplied. ..... Seems like he enjoyed noodling on more than just the keyboards.
I happened to catch this show when it aired originally, rather fortunate considering that I am an athiest. The song he played was "Morning Has Broken." Unbeknownst to me at that time, he played piano on the original Cat Stevens release. Much as Peter Gabriel played the flute on Steven's "Katmandu."
I like all the people here saying that Jesus is fake. Human civilization just happened to base its entire timeline on the birth year of some fake person? Yeah, well, then His story must really be one HELL of a rumor!
Well...at least European civilization based it's calendar year on the supposed birth year of the Christ... Not all of the Americas...not Asia...not Africa... It has nothing to do with whether a bronze age religion is real or not... It had more to do with military might and being forced to follow the way of current heavy hitters in military, technology and trade more than anything else...
Oh, you're one of the simple ones, aren't you. Bless your heart, you're likely still looking for the wee brownie that turns the 'fridge light on as you pop the door. Most of the world doesn't think of this as "A.D." (abbreviated Latin for "Year of our lord), but rather C.E. (Common Era.) Please tell me you know that 25 December was a "holy day" prior to it being dubbed "Christmas"; it was the Roman holiday, "Saturnalia". With Constantine came the conversion of The Roman Empire to the "Holy Roman Empire" and the Christening of all things formerly "pagan" or 'heathen". Thus, the Julian Calender was reset based upon the amount of time believed to have passed since the Roman crucifixion of an obscure Jewish Zealot believed to have been 33 some-odd years old at the time of his arrest by the Jewish Sanhedrin and transfer of custody to the Roman Procurator, Herod. Now, my Luciferian Overlord commands me to take leave of thee as I must wash my hands the blood of unbaptized infants and prepare for the Feast of a Dozen Onions in commemoration of the Fall of Adam and Eve. Shemhamforash.
Troy Evitt Well said Troy, but you do realized that you were using "facts", "documented history" and "logic" in your rebuttal. In other words, you've just wasted your time with Mr. Klein. "A+" for effort though.
vcp93 It was cathartic. When those Duck Dynasty goons started explaining how God's Perfect Plan for Humanity involved not only coming to Earth and sharing some interesting new takes on Jewish philosophy, but also allowing yourself to be killed in one of most horrible means available, I realized they had every excuse to be homophobes and white supremacists...What I wanted to do was get them on TV with Neil deGrasse Tyson and Michio Kaku and ask them to explain why Jesus developed String Theoretical Physics or how the approach of a larger object by a smaller object points to gravity affecting the flow of time. "We're gunna whut?"
Troy Evitt It will be a cold day in "a mythical, burning pit where YOU KNOW WHO sends you if you aren't an obsequious sycophant because he loves you SOOOOO much"....before you see that show on TV. But then again, I could be wrong.....wouldn't be the first time.
I came back as result of "growing up." Very honest. And a Baptist! Does he play music there? I've been to local Baptist sermons a handful of times and suggested to one to add acoustic drums to their musical offerings each sermon. I knew the local keyboard player/vocalist who was musical director of the church When she heard "Judas Iscariot" -- ruclips.net/video/iM_e_h73ULc/видео.html -- and the opening to "Awaken," her ears perked up and asked, Who is this? or said, This is interesting. She actually learned and played one of Rachmaninoff's piano concertos, It may have been the dreaded third. She taught piano and voice for decades and her husband was principle trumpeter at a NYCity symphony, I think Bronx, throughout the 60s-00s and was a professor of music at Leahman College for decades--I wonder whether he's still alive ....
LVMUSICMAN Your opinion is actually very incorrect. I am a Free Mason and a Christian. In fact every Free Mason I've ever met was a Christian. Kind of blows your theory.
Look, it is Very Simple. You either think life started from nothing or has always existed. Can life be created from nothing or has it always been here? I think somehow, someway, life started from a greater force then us, versus absolute chance, I call it God.
When he said that after 35 years he'd finally begun to use his gift properly ... I could only think that, at that moment, he knew the reality was a story much too long to tell,.with a lot more 'dark and lights of song', and complicated. (Even given how people deemphasize and re-prioritize the past based on current perspectives and circumstances.)
Christ warned that following him would be a tough road to hold,as a christian we would be ridiculed, scorned, and hated and judging by the comments on this page,I'd say He was right. Kudos to you rick for stepping out and proclaiming your faith.
the folly of judgment has to be seen directly by the judge and that will be accomplished through....judgment. In other words, this person MUST be judgmental for now so he can finally wake up some day. The Holy Spirit takes what we have made and uses it to teach. :o)
its a pity that he is religious? how stupid are you?He loves his creator, and gives credit to the source of life.. how much more mature do you have to be?
Jim Keller proof? you know what is delusional? thinking this entire universe came into being WITHOUT a creator.. Has to be one of the dumbest thoughts a human can hold to.
interesting that you question JESUS's words we can all '' cherry pick '' from scripture to justify our lifestyle i am pointing out that mr wakeman is declaring his service to our LORD and saviour JESUS the christ here yet you will find him promoting masonry elsewhere on YT even to the point of composing masonic music one cannot profess to serve JESUS and be a member of a secret society GOD declares that HE will reveal all things practiced in secret
You, obviously, are quite unable to understand Jon's lyrics and poetry. I f you do not have the intelligence or the spirituality within the Universe and harmonic convergence, you should probably keep your ignorant incorrect comments to yourself!
Sadly he's a freemason now. In his own words in the video here on youtube "On the Level - With Rock Star Rick Wakeman (from the band YES and BBCs Watchdog) Part 1" on the account LewisMasonic. One cannot have two masters, either is Jesus or nothing.
Snotra, the First Church was the Disciples, they were NOT CATHOLIC!!! The first church were the followers of Christ, those who walked with Him AND BELIEVED, wherever he went. The first priest in human form I would say is John the Baptist, too. Come on, look at your history!!! Catholicism though rich in many traditions, has done much more to divide and damage people and faith than the Protestants could ever do. I know more former Catholics who are now atheists than I do Catholics that truly believe in Christ!
The Bible seems completely ahistorical to me. It contradicts history and science in many places, and its central claims are anti-scientific and unsupported by any external sources. As a nonbeliever, I completely dismiss it as a crock.
Obviously people raised in religion tend to go through all sorts of varying degrees of piousness in their lives. This seems such a period in Rick's life and perhaps his least productive time creatively. The wife he refers to here was Nina Carter who was a Page 3 pinup at one time. They have long since divorced and he has remarried. Rick is a British conservative (don't confuse that with the American version) and long ago gave up alcohol. But the guy has quite the sense of humor as well. See the piece from Planet Rock here on RUclips. Did God give Rick his talents? I would suggest hard work, practice and unusually nimble hands had a great deal to with that aspect of his life. The guy is brilliant. My keyboard idol always no matter his beliefs. Odd though that his Christian works were commercial failures, excepting Morning has Broken, which is quite another story. Obviously he is still a spiritual person. And that is his perfect right. Seeing him and former Yes frontman Jon Anderson perform together is also a rather mystical experience. And drugs are certainly not required to understand the meaning of the songs they perform, or that Wakeman performed with Yes and as a solo act.. I read that horrible comment somewhere below.
You are correct,my dear friend. I hope that some day I can live up to your expatiation,s! I cannot ever come close to man,s expectation,s. can you? Tell me why you cannot write God? In hebrew it would be Yeshua,Greek,"The anointed one" (Christo's)
The Bible is very on what music is acceptable incl . certain instruments to avoid. However this slightly backsliding believer counts yes and Wakeman as the greatest of all time. Respect also for Keith Emerson
I would also like to point out, That Mr Wakeman, says he is not a Born Again Christian, Well you only can become a Christian if you are Born again, John 3:3 Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God, you must be born of water and of spirit,,,,, When it refers to water, this is not baptism, it is referring to when a women's waters are broken during child birth....
Thier [sic] hearts are far from him? Apparently this organized religion thing is quite the inexact science as some believers think it is their place to observe then cast aspersions on the religious thoughts and beliefs of others. I missed that part of the Bible, the, "be judgmental," "be self righteous" and "go around judging others" part. Good luck with your continued Bible study, hopefully some of it will sink in. You might want to try re-reading John 8:7 and Matthew 7:1
Favorite band . Winnipeg Canada summer 1979 round stage Tormato tour. Bible has specific instructions and guidance to differentiate between Satan's music and gods music
It Also says you must be born again, He is Not, This is from the lips of his own mouth, You cannot see the Kingdom of God unless you are Born again John 3:3
The Bible is also clear with: Judge not lest ye be judged (yourself), or as Jesus said "those without sin cast the first stone". Is Rick perfect and without mistakes or sin? No. Who are you to judge? Who are you to say "I have seen Mr RW in action and I can assure you, there was nothing godly or Christian about that..."? Our God is a merciful God, and we are saved by Grace, not by YOU.
Fantastic - all these years I had thought at various times that if anyone in Yes was a Chrsitian it would be Squire or Anderson. Turns out Andersonis wlaking in the clouds and Squire was not very nice at all despite his Christmas album.
I get up... I get down...I get up....I get dowwwwwaaaan! Don't think Jon was singing about the Catholic church there, but then, I don't think he was singing about sex either....but you can take it either way. ;)
Funny, in a more recent interview he talks about how his father was a freemason and very involved in the lodge. So his father was a "deacon" who was a freemason?? hahaha. ..liar.
Yes, Protestant faiths may differ in the minor ways, but they don't contradict each other in the Major. Unfortunately, the Catholic Church misses the mark on the MAJOR thing and emphasizes the minor things, including their "traditions"... not even found in the Bible. Not saying Catholics "can't" be true Christians...but many are deceived by the churches teachings...i.e., you don't get through the "narrow door" by saying 5 "Hail Marys" and 2 "Our Fathers"...sorry if this offends you.
You cannot serve to masters, The Masonic Lodge and God......... In addition, saying your a Christian and being one are 2 different things, The Bible is clear on being a Christian, Going to Sunday School, Being a Minister in a Church, appearing on Sings of Praise, believing in God, Does Not make you a Christian, I have seen Mr RW in action and I can assure you, their was nothing godly or Christian about that....
Tolerant? Like you're reaction with intolerance toward famousoldpainters1 (fop1), commanding (by shouting in CAPS) he/she "BE TOLERANT?" Also assuming fop1 is a "liberal" which you use in a pejorative/insulting way? Thanks for the assumption that fop1 was not merely reacting with his/her opinion but telling you, "you are wrong." You also assume fop1 is an atheist; btw not believing in Christ makes one non-christian. I guess others are free to believe... IF it fits YOUR standards, hypocrite.
Believing In God Will not save you, The Devil believes in God, but his time is soon to be up. What you think is not important, Jesus Said you must be born again, that is because you must be born again. I am a musician, I would rather be in the Kingdom Of God praising Jesus than being the greatest keyboard player ever, I am sure their are better out their, just not been discovered,,,, But that has nothing to do with the fact RW is NOT a Christian....
Yes was not your typical rock band. To be honest, they were actually a rock / classical band. Their music is very spiritual and uplifting. Yes helped me get through my cancer. God bless

Dave Wendt The lodge doesn't directly ruin my life. God bless :)
@@barsouk Free Masonry is a pseudo Christian (or other Religions) cult.
To be a Freemason one needs to believe in G-d, of good morals, and sound mind and body.
There's nothing sinful about that.
There are a few members in Yes that are Christian and conservative in political thought.
Like all addicts, he needed to replace the fix.

When you listen to Yes with Rick Wakeman you either get convinced from hearing the music that there is a God or you get convinced that Yes is God.
Cool. Rock on Rick!
Though, I wonder how he feels now after I let him know "Roundabout" is Jesus' Favourite Song.
I have a valid story to back up my claim on this. I told Rick only about the origin of this story.
I am only disappointed in not seeing the performance, it cut off before the performance section of the show.
Just remember what religion did to Peter Green.

A complete delusion
Jim Keller proof?
you know what is delusional? thinking this entire universe came into being WITHOUT a creator.. Has to be one of the dumbest thoughts a human can hold to.
Shawn Gregory
Who created the creator than?
The universe possibly did have a creator.
But the notion of a personal god is delusional.
explains a lot
beautiful music enlarges us all
interesting that you question JESUS's words
we can all '' cherry pick '' from scripture to justify our lifestyle
i am pointing out that mr wakeman is declaring his service to our LORD and saviour JESUS the christ here yet you will find him promoting masonry elsewhere on YT even to the point of composing masonic music
one cannot profess to serve JESUS and be a member of a secret society
GOD declares that HE will reveal all things practiced in secret
Sad... He has to do "what he's told to do" Poor bastard.
YES preaches better stuff than PAT ROBERTSON, or who is that woman?
Tom Baldwin small patatas
+Tom Baldwin what do they preach? their lyrics only make sense if you're on LSD
You, obviously, are quite unable to understand Jon's lyrics and poetry. I f you do not have the intelligence or the spirituality within the Universe and harmonic convergence, you should probably keep your ignorant incorrect comments to yourself!
@@shaunsteele6926 I'm a Christian and I love Yes and Genesis.
He most certainly is a Christian. Baptist, to be exact.
And one is allowed to be both.
A Freemason on the 700 CLub who would of guessed it
Right on Rick ! Always been a Rick Wakeman fan. Kudoes to rockers like him ,Mark Farner, Alice Cooper and others who speak up for Jesus.
Like the Nazareen needed someone to speak up for him. It won't work when your dad decides when it's time to get sacrificed.
I'm impressed
I would guess Rick didn’t do any of his sexual jokes in this interview
"KRYKIE!"
Did Donna Jean Godchaux of the Grateful Dead become a born again christian as well?
Amazing! ....very cool
Writing it as "G-d" is merely a sign of respect. I don't see the need to reduce The Almighty through labeling.
It's just a personal choice of mine.
You're a fucking idiot. There is no ban on instruments.
Which instruments are to be avoided? This is just plain bizarre.
Happy Birthday Rick :)
She reminds me of Blanche Devereaux w/long hair. lol
I'm an optimistic person and believe in Karma, but I never, ever trust a christian. Sorry, but experience has taught me that.
What IS it about these Christian evangelist women and their Big Hair???
George Wallace I wonder the same about muslim women and their hair.
seeburg220 Muslim women are required to keep their hair long so their husbands have something to hold onto while they bludgeon them.
+George Wallace (PictureMusic) the Bible talks about a woman's hair being her "glory" or something. They probably take that literally
Not to forget the great Rick Derringer!
Don't think Jon was singing about the Catholic church there, but then, I don't think he was singing about sex either....but you can take it either way. ;)
0_O
Jesus loves you.
is this a bible punch program....?
thank you!
same with billy sheehan - or even worse - a good guy duped
Funny, in a more recent interview he talks about how his father was a freemason and very involved in the lodge. So his father was a "deacon" who was a freemason?? hahaha. ..liar.
you like that song eh haha
Da Master!
A pity. It shows Wakeman is less intelligent than I thought he was.
Not everyone is a philosopher he’s still a genius musician.
Bang on target
What is the major thing?
Your interpretations are dangerous.
Believing In God Will not save you, The Devil believes in God, but his time is soon to be up.
What you think is not important, Jesus Said you must be born again, that is because you must be born again. I am a musician, I would rather be in the Kingdom Of God praising Jesus than being the greatest keyboard player ever, I am sure their are better out their, just not been discovered,,,, But that has nothing to do with the fact RW is NOT a Christian....
i just threw up a tiny bit
Not like Obama. At least he's honest.
brainwashed!
fucking sad shit....YES was so much more than this mainstream Jebus shit.
wtf is this..!
