Holy shit, I just got to that and was like NO you do not get to show us how much you don't know about the culture and expect me to keep watching. I'm done.
Jason lee part in Stereo "visual sound" was kind of beauty like Style Matters for generations coming after. I'm very lucky to being a kid in early 90's. Peace.
His footage never gets old for me; could watch it for days. That photo of the 360 flip at the contest in HI.( from the other angle behind the hip) is one of the best photos ever. Huf said it was a big influence on him (from the chrome ball blog). It's not just those though. His backside 180 flips were one of the best. Apparently he had an NBD for the time from the "Video Days" part: the backside flip to back tail slide. It's funny 'cause in his Nine Club interview, JL really down played his skating. But that clearly shows how forward thinking (and tech) he was for the time. One of the GOATs. Met him briefly. He's a tall dude.
Something about Jason Lee...dude has insane style I remember cutting photos out of him skating in the early 90s and hanging it on my wall. Watching 411s and looking at every page in Thrasher mag unless u were an early 90s skater I can't explain how iconic this dude was before his acting career. Also I remember his shoe was really dope said Jason Lee on the tongue
Man miss those days!!! Sk8ing those early 90’s days was the shit!!! Chocolate team girl team!!! All the SF and LA and NY sk8ter were the shit!!! Peace to all who grind!!!
Relatively speaking the levels of professional difficulty were equal then as they are to today. Keep in mind that these skills were not already available or unlocked yet before guys like gonz maldonado hensley natas duffy and rodney showed us what was possible. The discovery was the piece that needs to be factored into that comparison. The last 30 years of progress were built on their foundation, especially for street skating. Today’s skaters have the luxury of knowing what’s possible without having to build that base of knowledge themselves. Or dealing with location inaccessibility, real world conditions or the social push back we did in the 80’s and 90’s. The result of it bringing today’s parks, and global exposure to what was once a subversive and counter culture movement
If mallrats had flopped maybe he’d have been as iconic as Jamie Thomas or ed templeton,or been a character on tony hawk pro skater, crazy turn of destiny.
@@juvedoo99 I def don’t blame him for pursuing an acting career, money wise it made sense and in the long run as a career as well, can’t skate pro forever and make millions, unless your tony hawk, and license a video game, rob derdic and bam margera also took the acting route, made way more than any pro skater ever would.
Speaking of Mike York- to me hes one of those dudes that disappeared suddenly and completely- after Girl "Mouse" i dont think i ever saw him anywhere ever agaim. Anyone have any comments or ideas? Not that i was a fan or anything specific to do w him, hes just one of those dudes who vanished after being on a solid team.
Jason Lee himself has always been one of the most stylish skaters.
…Who could forget the collaboration between Earl & Spike Jonzay on “Video Days”

🎶there's a war outside of your window...🎶
timeless style
Best 3 flip and style. Love Video Days and A Visual Sound. Such an influence on my skating early on.
Spike jonzayyy😂
my homie likes him so much!
HE & all skaters are our teacher.
And he likes him.
Respect 🤜🏽🤛🏽
One of the best of his time !!
Jason Lee, Mike V and Gonz. The holy trinity
Replace the v with Natas and ya have something.
Hell, Templeton was better than the v.

Pro model airwalk was sick 🤘
Good days!!! Houston skate park and EZ-7!!! Skate what you could find. Easy and simple life back then.

Hensley and Lee were the most stylish skaters ever.

I agree. Stereo would have been a powerhouse like Zero or Toy Machine were at the time.

We would have never met earl?
That's my Coach Frank right there :,)
Spike Johnsey
Stereo and My Name is Earl= legend status.
The professional trajectory was much simpler in the 80s than it was today?
You’re absolutely wrong about that
Spike Jonzay
imagine getting to watch jason and gonz skate back in the 80s
Dont forget about the whole Blind team. They were way ahead of everyone else by several years.
That is right 👍
Rare footage of "les bassins du trocadero" Tour Effel in Paris
