    If you ever invite an EU official over for coffee in the garden. I would advise not to empty the coffee grinds in to the flower bed in front of them and wait until they have left. If they send an email to you later enquiring what you did with the coffee grinds - just say "The UK has left and Stakker said please mind your own business! hahaha!"

      They seem to love a hosta so definitely worth a try! Good luck 😊

    Saw a RUclips video of a home made twin copper track slug repellent and it was highly effective. The battery is only used when the naughty slug forms an electrical path. So the battery should last a long time. For those who are worried about humane solutions Stakker would say that is a good one.
    I am going to make my own and call it "Kong is Strong".

    Try using crushed egg shells! Sprinkle round your beds the slugs find them a bit sharp

    Your nematode mix looked like rice for a curry.
    We live out in the sticks and since we lost all of our ducks and chickens (old age) we have been inundated with slugs and snails again. The snails I collect early in the morning off the gravel drive and throw them in the field across the road. The slugs we sometimes put salt on but usually slug pellets have been our last resort.
    Interested to see how your latest solution works. A bit more environmentally friendly I think. 😁😁👍👍

      Ah yes salt is handy for driveways but not so great for planters 😊

    I control our slugs by a form of companion planting so to speak ( by using an alternate food choice👌 ) I sprinkle porridge oats out around the plants at night and they love them , and if any left.. the ground feeding birds eat them up the next morning which they also love , win, win 👍😊 and if the birds or hedgehogs eat the slugs then all the better as they're not filled with poisoned slug pallets 🦔🕊

      Do your slugs have that ReadiBrek glow like the advert, you're probably too young to remember that one 😂😂😂

      Unfortunately I DO remember tbe redibrek glow advert 😪..🤣 but actually, they don't like redibrek as much as pure porridge oats , must be the sugars in the redibrek 🙄

    Hi Georgina, I used a cheap beer in old jam bottles last year and although I do not have any scientifically findings I did end up with jam jars full of dead slugs and snails I was growing runner beans and did have a healthy hedgehog colony so I do not know if it was the hedgehogs or beer that did the job however I did need to keep an eye on the hedgehogs as they may have eaten some of the beer infested slugs and as a result had varying degrees of direction problems and I had to keep some of them in a cardboard box until the effects wore off.

      Maybe a combination of the two!? I'm glad it worked for you. We have made some progress with reducing our population but we now have a week of rain forecast so I think we are going to have a serious slug battle on our hands!

    ur decking is upside down

      It’s reversible so works either way up 😊

      @@GeorginaBisbyDIY well the assumption is the grooves are for grip... nope.. they are for cooling and drying the boards evenly from underneath

    • @GeorginaBisbyDIY
      @GeorginaBisbyDIY  3 года назад

      @@gabrielsansar6187 I think that is the case for timber decking to prevent it from rotting but it's not the same with composite decking (which is what ours is) as it's so much more durable. It is called Smartboard and the manufacturers market it as reversible - we have it groove side up for the main deck and then flat side up to frame the space which works nicely. 😊
