I remember getting an amber alert at the beginning of lunch in highschool 2018, grad year for me. There were a little more than 2000 students in the school and well over 80% had phones, at least a third of everybody was in the caffeteria including me. That was a hell of a noise, 500+ phones catching an emergency alert atll within 5 or 6 seconds
Thank you for this bit of nostalgia - we had that very undercabinet radio model when I was a kid, and my mom listened to it almost every morning at breakfast time!
Very interesting to see. I live in Canada so we didn't get it obvi but I remember back in 2017 or so they were testing the amber alert while I was at school. Freaky noises
I mean, it's an emergency warning system. It's not supposed to sound particularly pleasant, given that it warns of things ranging from child abductions, to natural disasters, to potentially even a nuclear war. That said, the American EAS warning has a distinct creepiness to it, that you can only really understand if you've lived here all your life. Just hearing it gives me goosebumps, even when I know full well it's just a test.
This went off during lunch for me at school and it was crazy there was like 30 phones going off
lol
went off for me during PE
it also went off during lunch for me but it was so quiet and hyped up for nothing noboy could hear it

Scared the shit out of me when it went off on my phone while I was playing doom.
You were playing Doom and you're afraid of this?!
@@Crecross But it was unexpected! Plus, I'm a scaredy-cat anyways.
damn this is some analog horror shit, love it.
Nice I saw it on my CRT box tv
For some reason the test wasn't on the NOAA band.
That's because it's not a weather alert , it's a nuclear alert test which isn't sent to NOAA's broadcasting radio's.

Did this get broadcast over radio TV as well?
What station was this
I didn't receive one on my phone
I didn't either, and I don't think anyone around me had it go off either. Very weird, I get other alerts.
So I guess the test failed, they should probably fix that. Idk, I'm not American.
It went off in the area I was in, so I’m pretty sure it was a successful test
Dude it was so lame i thought it was gonna be way louder
Why does it sound like it’s some sort of fallout radio announcement about to tell us the world is ending?? 😂😂
