Wow! That is a wonderful way to start the day! Starting with a connection to Jesus and his heavenly realm. I wish I had done that when I was still in school but at that time I didn´t even know that there is something like the Jesus Prayer and I knew nothing of a God that loves me dearly. But now - 30 years later - I try to start my day establishing a connection with Jesus Christ because I have experienced his immense love for me and his glory. @Zzzz Zzzz For the orthodox, music is just a means of attracting the faithful and keeping the solemnity during the liturgy, it must never replace prayers or the mysteries, in the same fashion icons are just a means of focalized attention during personal prayer, there is no worship going on, we all know they are wood and paint, but we show reverence to what they represent (resurrection, transfiguration, dormition of the holy theotokos, etc) icons are also a didactical medium, for centuries, illiterate christians learned theology through the icons . The veneration of saints is NOT a form of worship, we ask for their intercession before God in the same fashion we ask our living friends to pray for us, with the additional benefit that saints do have particular attributes given to them by the Holy Spirit.

the devil and demons hate this chant. Whenever I suffer from nightmares and I am attacked, I turn on this video and can then fall asleep in peace.
When I can’t sleep or am filled with anxiety I do the same. I am in peace very shortly after.

I uttered this prayer as I was recovering from the anesthetic following my prostatectomy surgery back in 2002. It brought much comfort in that hour of enormous uncertainty!

Wow! That is a wonderful way to start the day! Starting with a connection to Jesus and his heavenly realm. I wish I had done that when I was still in school but at that time I didn´t even know that there is something like the Jesus Prayer and I knew nothing of a God that loves me dearly. I was only taught the idea of an demanding angry God. But now - 30 years later - I try to start my day establishing a connection with Jesus Christ because I have experienced his immense love for me and his glory.
Please don´t ever give up your way to start your day with God. I wish you all the best, God bless!

It is just what I needed at this point. I prayed for relief from the same thing, then came a similar Russian chant sent in an email from Fr. Joe who is an American who emigrated to the restored Mother Russia.

I read the book “The Way of the Pilgrim” about 20 years ago. That book is basically the story of this prayer. Changed my life forever. I am a Roman Catholic BTW. Awesome book, prayer and chant! “Pray without ceasing” taken very literally and there is nothing wrong with that!

@Zzzz Zzzz For the orthodox, music is just a means of attracting the faithful and keeping the solemnity during the liturgy, it must never replace prayers or the mysteries, in the same fashion icons are just a means of focalized attention during personal prayer, there is no worship going on, we all know they are wood and paint, but we show reverence to what they represent (resurrection, transfiguration, dormition of the holy theotokos, etc) icons are also a didactical medium, for centuries, illiterate christians learned theology through the icons . The veneration of saints is NOT a form of worship, we ask for their intercession before God in the same fashion we ask our living friends to pray for us, with the additional benefit that saints do have particular attributes given to them by the Holy Spirit.
