Yes in English you wear flip-flops ( Australians call them thongs!) to the beach or sandals which have the strap at the heel and nothing between the toes. Slippers are what you wear indoors and are usually associated with wearing your pijamas ready for bed with a cup of Ovaltine or cocoa!!

After years of living in Sardinia with its beautiful water with sand beaches, Balaton didn't exceed my expectations. So every time I have to answer to hungarians to the question "what do you think about Balaton?" I just have to lie and I hate to lie, but I hate to hurt people's feelings even more.
