@@ansuchaudhari8336 Well I was here for the later part, Using Connectors. I have checked the former part, and I can do exactly as the instruction, no problem at all. Maybe you could ask the author of this video for more detailed instruction. Good luck!
Very good tutorial, precise and concise. Thank you. The tutorial is also relevant for excel and powerpoint so I suggest you change the name to reflect this, you will get more hits on search.
Actually, this video title should be "Edit Shape Points and How to Use Connectors | Microsoft Office 2016 Drawing Tools Tutorial" where it applies to all the Office apps having Shape Tools. But unfortunately, search volume for Office tutorials is much lesser than particular apps tutorials like Word, Excel and PowerPoint. There are a lot of tutorials on my channel for Word, Excel and PowerPoint commands; where a single video is related to many different office apps. Will think about that. Thanks for the suggestion.
@@TheTeacher You would do well to specifically mention the individual apps i.e. Word, Excel, & Powerpoint instead of using the umbrella name "Office". For a viewer there is nothing better than finding the exact name of the app he seeks info on, in a video title. Very good video. However, I was looking to find some way to erase part of a shape in Word, where I've merged 3 or more shapes to create a final shape, and wish to do away with portions of some shapes hanging outside what I need. If it can be done, would you help please?

Let me be more specific. There is an invisible grid inside every word document. You can see that Gridlines by clicking on View menu and then enable Gridlines. So, when you move an object it always snap according to Gridlines. The quick alternative to this is to hold down the ALT key while moving an object and that will disable the Snap to Gridlines option temporarily. You can also watch my video about How to Use Guides and Gridlines for more information. Hope that will help. Let me know!!!
Did you find the precise point or not? Just asking because developing a PowerPoint VSTO Add-in with WPF. So, after reading this 7 years old comment thought to ask you more about what you mean by precious point in a shape?
I use Windows 7 but in ms word I can't able to shape line edit like this. ... edit point option is not available in ms word. ..please sir how I insert edit line shape like this. ... in windows 7 system
Ok, I figured it out for anyone else stumbling upon this: Bizarrely some versions of Word seem to require that shapes (including connectors) must be grouped before they can be connected. See answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/shapes-in-word-2011-have-no-connection-points/0270d6d0-784e-403f-8d83-6f267af0aa7d
First, don't try that on Grouped Objects. Secondly, Edit Shape Points works with most of the shapes but not all of the shapes and lastly, trying using it after drawing an object with FreeForm Shape.
Edit Shapes can be used on most of the Shapes by selecting the shape first. It could be disable for various inbuilt shapes. Mostly we used it on FreeForm Shape.

You can type text on top of anything using Insert - WordArt.
Mine is also version 2016, but under edit shape, the edit points is not active, only edit wrap points is active. How to solve please? TQ in advanced.
Edit Points works best with FreeForm Shape and you must select the shape first.
@@TheTeacher TQ. So the edits points is active for free form shape, not template shapes, isn't it.
Sir how to do this on mobile?
I can't use the "edit wrap points" because the ICON is BLOCKING one of the edit points
kaise theek hoga
You cannot use Edit Points on ready-made shapes instead you should try that on FreeForm Shape.
How do you set a precise point in a shape? It's always free form for some reason so it never goes exactly where I need it.

When trying to add a connector using line/arrow shapes, in my case, the blue guides/dots won't show when you hover over the shape. Why? How to fix?
I have the same issue, I've done this many times before, but suddenly the connection points are MIA... Very frustrating

You can mostly use the Edit Shape Points on the objects that you have drawn by yourself using FreeForm Shape Tools.
can't click on the "edit shape" icon, it just won't react
Doesn't work for all the Shapes. Works best with FreeForm Shape.
@@TheTeacher

Convert your document from the compatibility mode to use edit shape. Go to file tab and then click convert option in compatibility. Hope it helps.
