Glaucoma sucks. Lost my eye 6 years ago due to it. My doctor said it was the worst case he had ever seen. I had 2 tubes in my eye and had 8 surgeries on It. I just wanted to say much respect for what you do. Its so hard. Respect
Thank you for your support! Sorry to hear about your eye. That has to be tough. Are you no light perception then? do you still have the eye or a prosthetic?

This vedio was one of the most favorite of your vedios. It's good to know how your informative knowledges were accumulated. Seeing your worn out books, we really appreciate your efforts and sharing your precious knowledges. 😁Thank u. Thank u. I'd Never take for granted. すご〜い!感謝です。🙇🙇🙇
I work as a technician for a small optometric practice. Aside from the AOA study materials, what other books/guides do you recommend for staff who are in process of becoming a CPO? 😊 Thanks so much in advance and for all the detailed videos you provide!
Anatomy and physiology. If you can get these two down solid the next few years are SOO much easier. But if you had to pick one book that will help you the most throughout school and your career. Wills Eye manual.
Will you do a video about rebranded contact lenses? eg: Coopervision MyDay vs Specsavers Linarial are they actually the same thing? they do cost less from Specsavers and in a daily run, you can save quite a bit

So tempted to get laser eye surgery. Here in the UK IV been for a consultation and they said I'm suitable for it. Have you ever heard of LASIK iDesign? It's more expensive than standard LASIK. I also want to know why Doctors and opticians have not done laser surgery themselves? Is there a hidden negative behind it?
I have not heard specifically about LASIK iDesign, It may just be custom lasik (corrected for aberrations). I know several doctors who have had LASIK and love it. I personally have not had it because I have dry eye symptoms already, I do great with contacts, and I have a family history of glaucoma. What else is holding you back?
Sorry not entirely related here but I was put into progressive lenes and multifocal contacts. I could not get used to the whole multifocal contact thing so the doctor was forced to put me back in regular contacts. I only wear contacts like 3x a week at max. Question is are waring progressive glasses witch I dont have a problem with and occasionally non multifocal contacts once in a while gonna cause any issues? My doctor said no, but hes a little quirky so since I have been watching your channel I figured I would ask...also I did not see any videos on progressive lenses or multifocal contacts...unless I missed them? Can you do one on that subject? Thanks, I enjoy you channel, keep it up!
Thank you so much! To answer your question, there theoretically should be no problem switching back and forth. Did you try mono-vision contacts? I plan to post a video soon on multifocal contacts soon!
Ya I recently got it on my phone and it's really accessible for showing patients eye conditions. Also was invaluable in my final exams. Great channel btw
Both are competent. Keep in mind there may some variability based on training/specialty. If unsure if a clinic manages glaucoma, you can always call and check ahead of time. Some clinics don't manage glaucoma.
PRK or interocular lens surgery. You cannot cure astigmatism without surgery. You can correct it though with glasses or contact lenses if you don't want surgery,.
So! I have my copy of “The Wills Eyes Manual” and find it fascinating and hard to understand with the high level verbiage. Does it become easier to read with time or do you have another book recommendation?
Hey thanks! Hopefully the books in this video give some great guidance! The Massachusetts eye and ear infirmary illustrated manual of ophthalmology is another great one.
The good news is most schools have book access to them. Or you can look into Clinical Key through Elsavier?? They have the books on digital copy and you can download the pdf of every chapter!
@@mariayasir7445 If i remember correctly, I used a kaplan prep course book. I also studied the MCAT test prep books. They usually have some self tests which may be similar style questions to the MOH exam.
The job description and licensing of an “Optometrist” in India and other parts of the world is extremely different. In UK, US, Australia etc you generally need a Doctor of Optometry or Masters of Optometry to practice. In these countries, Optometrists are eye doctors who can diagnose eye conditions and prescribe medications independently. A 2 year diploma is definitely not enough because to get a Doctor of optometry as well as further cert in therapeutic drug use, you need around 7+ years of education. The equivalent of an Optometry diploma in India is an Optical dispenser or optical technician. You’ll be able to work alongside optometrists but you won’t be able to work as an Optometrist yourself unless you complete the degree here.
Question of the DAY! : Did you find this video helpful and do you have any other questions about optometry or ophthalmology?
Urself optomerist or opthalmologist ?!
Can you refer a book for occupational optometry sir?
