    . Visually, this is the best video in the CTA collection. Aurally it is seriusly diminished by the whistle from the slipstram of the train. It sounds exactly like a tea kettle throughout the video.
    . I presently have this muted on loop. I hope a new, improved nighttime Brown Line video can be done soon. It is great to run at my desk while I am working and to spend time with just loosening up the mind.

The first one, about 2015, was plagued by trackwork slowdowns (between every stop south of Addison/Lincoln)....this one, by the annoying "whistling"...and the latest one, 2021 in a winter storm, has the windshield (with no wiper) clouded up the the sleet. Camera and mic mounted outside? Is that the wind noise? Turn off the sound to enjoy a view of Chicago at night.
    To those commenting on the few people on the platform on the inbound leg of this circle trip, it's evening on a warm night at 8PM and few people are commuting inbound at that time. Now if you watch after the train goes around the downtown "Loop" and starts its return journey (43:36 in the video) there are some "outbound" commuters from the CBD to the northern areas of the City and suburbs. The outbound portion of the video happens around 8:45 PM, after the evening rush is over.

    There is one long stretch which contains the locations of a number of demolished stations and only one existing one. I would wonder why those neighborhoods are not being served by the system.
    The city at night is a special view! But perhaps you could try a new video without the whistle.

    Did this train have no headlights or something? The rail bed between stations should not be completely dark and invisible when a train is about to pass over it.
    Oh I see... the headlights are simply trained unusually high. Well... what's the point of that??

    Is the wind noise a thing with the 3200 series cars?

    • @TCMECH79
      @TCMECH79 5 лет назад +3

      The noise is a combination of the wind and train speed and also the artificial wind corridors made by the surrounding buildings

    • @GTSCommander
      @GTSCommander 5 лет назад +15

      The 2400, 2600 and 3200 series L's all had this situation due to front door design. There is a one foot strip of safety rubber near the handle that was installed to minimize the damage one would endure to their fingers if that door slammed shut on them while walking between cars. The sound is caused by the wind passing thru the rubber and the door jamb, it has nothing to do with buildings!

      GTS Commander The 5000 has a different door?

    • @GTSCommander
      @GTSCommander 5 лет назад +6

      @@QuarioQuario54321 Yes, the 5000 series trains are not made with the foot long safety strip and the doors are more rounded off at the top of the door and are not sharp 90 degree angles like the previous series. There is a very good CTA website made by an insider "chicago-l (dot) org" with plenty of photos and you can see the design difference in some side by side pictures.
