They better rain Emmy's down on Kit and Joe. And the director and Alice. They executed this so well. Tackled the topic in a serious and yet heartfelt way.
Oh wow I had not thought of that! I've just been loving the signage in the background that says "fish have feelings" This show, good grief, so many fantastic details.
his letter that he writes then reads to his parents is a literal script for anyone feeling anything anywhere NEAR what Charlie feels. this is so beautiful.
I really struggled with depression in 2021. When I read this moment in the comic I broke down because it was so similar to how I felt and Heartstopper handles it so well
Someone pointed out Nick only making the s word joke sometimes. Like he knows when it’s appropriate and when Charlie just needs support and now I can’t stop thinking about it. It’s so sweet

These two episodes are both the hardest to watch and the most sensitively and beautifully done. Episode four in particular is so brilliantly told and packs so much into a short period of time without feeling rushed.
Honestly, though, I think that was actually the best gift Charlie could have given him - a massive act of bravery so that he could get better and Nick wouldn't have to be carrying all that weight of wanting so badly to help and not being equipped to do so all on his own 🧡
I feel like there is so much symbolism behind Nick's Halloween costume. Nick is constantly being a support system for others and in a way being this 'Captain America' for his friends and Charlie. Him crying on the floor with Tao really showed just how difficult it is being relied on all the time.
Charlie is the support system through the first two seasons and spends all his time pushing his feelings aside to accommodate others, but no one cares about him in this fandom.
As someone who is twice their age, the scene of Nick crying on Tao's shoulder really makes me remember, these are just kids, man, and they're going through so much. Nick in particular is taking so much responsibility for being the rock. As his aunt says, that's a lot to put on the shoulders of a 16 year old.
as someone who's stayed in a psych ward, i love the positive representation of it. showing it as a place that is safe and can help, and not a place of horror. obviously, there are still establishments that are far from this and they shouldn't be acceptable, but for me, when i got admitted, i was terrified that it was gonna be like the image you often get in media, a demonized version. this can hopefully show people that there are psych wards can be good and help you. i got super lucky with where i was admitted, and i hope everyone can get the help they need
as someone with OCD, seeing how they portrayed it and explained what we go through was really refreshing compared to the stereotypical way that the media represents it. both episodes made me bawl my eyes out.
I’m glad they added the detail of Charlie tearing up his food. In my experience it’s to make food look less intimidating, or you’ve eaten more than you have
At 13:00 i hate that tao said "what happened to James?" Like it doesn't matter that isaac is asexual or not. In this situation he just wanted his best friend to spend time with him no matter if he has a boyfriend or not. Taos statement just made me really sad for isaac
I actually had a great time while I stayed in a psych ward, so good to see positive representation! Everyone deserves the help they need and in-hospital care can help SO well!
I’m so glad Asexuality is touched on now, it’s never usually talked about or worded right on tv coz Ace/Aros/Aroaces are less understood than others in LGBTQ+. We can find people attractive, we just don’t want to date or bonk them (but there is a spectrum). Choosing to be single, whether straight, gay or ace is absolutely fine, pressures of society make out either there’s something wrong with you or you’re being a prude or “just haven’t looked hard enough”. Im so glad for Isaac starting to bring it up, I just wish he would put the bloody books down! It’s like his only personality trait throughout. As much as I get that being surrounded by couple friends makes you feel left out sometimes, but he’s still not ever in the moment or getting involved with group things, even in season one when most his friends weren’t dating each other yet, he was glued to a book every waking moment..
The very image of a helpless Captain America sitting on the floor, helpless, crying on Frank(Donnie Darko)'s shoulder is burned into my poor heart forever.
The end of episode 3 gets me every damn time no matter how many times I watch. Alice and the crew are really going to help so many people reach out for their mental health. Nick crying on Tao’s shoulder 😭 they’ve come so far in their friendship. Nick’s first party without Charlie since Harry’s birthday
Kizzy, Darcy's actor, uses he/they now. IIRC, Alice did ask them if they'd like to incorporate that earlier on but Kizzy wasn't comfortable with it yet. It would be like the character figuring themselves out while they were still trying to do that. I guess by this season they were comfortable enough to go with that storyline. It's kinda hard to hide when you leave the door open teach, lol. The sad thing is, which they indirectly touch on, is that Charlie got the help he needed when he needed it, because his family could afford it. Otherwise it was a 4 month wait for his first appointment. I wondered how they'd handle things. In the comics they also went through those few months quickly in journal entries. I wondered how that would work in the show. And I think they did a great job. They were able to expand on things a little. And while it could have probably stood to be maybe 2 episodes instead of 1, time constraints. And they packed so much into that episode. It was wonderful.
I have anorexia and ocd and the way they've portrayed it throughout the whole show us ASTOUNDING. I hope everyone is lucky enough to have a support network like Charlie's and the I wish there were actual professionals around like Geoff. He's amazing
I actually really appreciate the character of Charlie’s Mum this season. She’s absolutely a flawed character but we can see her trying to get better, and she makes plenty of mistakes but eventually it becomes clear she’s trying her best and she does really care. She’s just bad at it.
"And it's hard to be at a party when I feel like an open wound, it's hard to be anywhere these days when all I want is you" is the epitome of episode 4, especially the party scene obviously
