I did not expect West Afrika to be the inspiration for Natlan's teaser theme. But this was a pleasant surprise! The percussive marimba-like instrument you hear is the balafon, and the flute is called the tambin or fula flute. I really enjoyed making this cover and I hope you like it just as much! :)
Its been some years since i heard that instrument in a game. I remember some years back it was in a popular series but i can't remember what. Its triggering some very old memories.

Expect every nation in this world who take big influence from Spain in their history will be take as reference for Natlan.
Africa, Mexico such as Aztec, Maya, Inca, Latin America... Feel free to add...
Remember!!! Region in Teyvat never take only one country/nation as their reference, rather they take all of the countries/nations who have one big similarity in cultures, histories, and civilization...

I literally heard this music and said AM I IN AFRICA! I also noticed Natlan has Baobabs trees from Africa. I’m so happy and thankful we are getting African and Indigenous American representation. In the talking stick lore all of the characters and dragons were from East, West, Central, and Southern Africa. Only two had mesoamerican names. Someone also pointed out on Twitter the Saurians have a resemblance to real African mythology and of course Iansan has Afro-Brazilian and West African. We are literally going to Africa and I’m SO HAPPY! it’s my dream come true. I always believed Natlan would have African influence even though people tried to deny it or say it’s the Philippines.

Let's be real. No one but the Philippines would make a game featuring the Philippines. Its culture really lacks cultural impact. Not enough to make an impression on the Global Audience.

From the current information,I think the 6 tribes in Natlan should have different cultures and their own areas. I'm sure at least one of the 6 tribes was inspired by an African tribe (probably the Nanatzcayan tribe [in game] because it borders the Sumeru desert and the soundtrack is appropriate for the mining area. But I'm still not sure).
**From the manga, I think there is another 1 of the 6 tribes that is inspired by Native American tribes, maybe they could have a bird like Saurian as a partner**

Now THIS was the music I expected Natlan to have, the tango-flamenco fusion confused me so much when aligned with all the Amerindian and African names in the lore.
I think hoyo was more ignorant at the time , seems like they improvised after they learned more about their culture

Well it's not gonna be just Amerindian and African cultures, but Spaniard too, look at the hat they showed us in the event of the "drakes". It resembles that of a Conquistador, Hernan Cortez type of helmet. So Natlan is Latam for sure, cause we are a mix of african, amerindian and spanish culltures.

That kind of music wasn't expected from Natlan
Litteraly what do you mean ? Natlan is African and Mesoamerican inspired so ofcourse it was expected ?
Most people probably expect Natlan to mainly feature Latin Amercian music, which would include a variety of countries and genres influenced by indigenous and African cultures, but also European cultures, particularly Spain and Italy.
With the teaser clearly hinting at West African musical styles, I think it's fair to say that many were surprised. I dare say that the majority of players are unfamiliar with the lore crumbs we have about Natlan, and it being the region we know the least about, it's understandable that this music might come as a surprise to them. But that doesn't mean they don't like it, so all is good! ^-^

Thank you! The flute sound is created from high-quality samples played by real musicians. I record my performance using a MIDI keyboard and then meticulously program it to achieve that realistic feel. 😊

@@sumesI think I like it because I LOVE the sound of marimbas, wooden-sounding flutes & arguably the best part for me is it reminds me of lofi/chill music.
I know this isn't low-fidelity in audio quality, but like the genre that spawned from the popular lofi hip-hop "chill" music that's slow & simplistic.

they forgot this is just one of the sub region , and hoyo always use real life landmark as a base . so if they disappointed it same like they dont grateful to whatever God created for us.

I love this 😭🥹 the afrobeat Mihoyo used and the inclusion of those electric guitars reminded me of Lebo M’s music for Lion King! I highly recommend you listen to his two albums, Rhythm of the Pride Lands and Return to Pride Rock for more 90s afrobeat! You can find Return to Pride Rock specifically on RUclips, or listen to his album Deeper Meaning because it has four songs from Return to Pride Rock.

Los dos albums de Sumeru duran 6 horas con 40 minutos y los de Fontaine 6 horas con 11 minutos siendo que no es tan grande como Sumeru y además hay una expansión de Liyue de por medio.

That distant mountain is a sumeru landmark most likely the mountain on top of the Hills of Barsom, and judging it from in game, it looks like Natlan will be to the left of Mont Esus East :o

I love this soundtrack and especially since Natlan is based off of West Africa. A lot of people expect Mesoamerican culture to be implemented in that region, as we should, but nobody bring up Natlan's African side. And I am looking forward because Africa is not represented this much in games. The only other game I know that takes place in Africa is Resident Evil 5, and the media demonized it as racist, which is fucking bullshit. I want more games to be set in Africa, and I'm glad Genshin is taking a shot at it with Natlan.
The Madagascar games are also set in Africa

But when I listen again to your fanmade “Baila con Sabor”, I would really have preferred a Natlan in this style, even my brother loved your fanmade there, one of his favorites from your channel so far! He said it reminded him of the Far Cry music, which is in exactly the same style aha.

That's the current patch. The event that you're talking about is happening right now along with Cyno's story quest
The NPC near the battle spots of the current event has some Natlan info to give you if you try talking to him
Natlan is based on America (Mexico) not Africa.
Natlan is not based on any particular country. I've mentioned it before. Natlan is a culturally diverse region with inspirations ranging from Africa to Latin America and pre-Columbian civilizations.

Yup, right alongside mezo/pre colonial american influence. If you read the Talking Stick's lore, you'll see that majority of the characters mentioned (the people as well as their Saurian companions) are from various parts of Africa. 😁
