This episode is the perfect Starscream episode. His vanity, ego, and vile nature. It’s almost tragic that he was once a scientist. Using his intelligence for evil.

Even though Optimus Prime and Megatron were always sworn enemies, it was always cool to see both Transformers occasionally put their differences aside to try save the world from doom, they make a hell of a team.
This episode is the perfect example of how epic TF G1 really was. Incredible characters, storylines. A little dark also. I feel blessed growing up as a child of the 80's getting to watch this. The recorded VHS tapes always got plenty of replay.

While Megatron thinks up these silly overly complicated plans Starscream is always trying to outright murder all of his enemies. You witness Megatron preventing Starscream from killing throughout the series. Another fun fact is that Starscream has the highest body count. As Starscream's motto goes "Conquest is made of the ashes of one's enemies."

Starscream however is unpredictable and downright willing to do absolutely whatever to get what he wants despite not being as physically imposing or liked by peers.

Frenzy had criminally low screen time. Strong little bugger too. Tossing Skywarp here and him single-handedly tackling Prime in Auto Berserk. I liked Rumble, but we needed more Frenzy.
Totally agree. Im not sure why he wasn’t shown more. It’s not like buzzsaw who’s low screen time was because he was packaged with Soundwave so there was no need to show him.
What’s even more horrific is I think the writers forgot about him. Starscream leaves him on Cybertron, this episode never mentions him, and we never see him again after this episode, and since he can’t move and I doubt Cybertron has human food… well… you know.

I grew up watching the G1 Transformers and I lost count on the number of times Megatron was forced into a position where he and Optimus Prime had to work together to save both Cybertron and Earth.
Apparently Cybertron is not really on the milky way. No space bridge nor any gravitational issues. Also Cybertron can sustain to an extent human life since it appears to have Earth's gravity, oxigen and even a temperate enough climate so it is not like it can be in the real solar system since anywhere beyond Mars or closer to Venus (actually neither of those worlds are good enough either) could be within Cybertron's range. Either: 1.- Somehow a worm hole or warp is near Earth. 2.- The universe has no sense of scale. 3.- Starscream is likely pretty fucking faster than lightspeed. Honestly, it's better not to think too hard about it.
This was the very episode of Transformers I saw. I was sick on Saturday morning in junior high school and spent the whole morning watching cartoons. I saw this episode and got hooked on Transformers.
It was nice to see Dr. Archeville try to redeem himself by trying to stop Starscream from collecting the energy from the Earth's destruction. To bad he got electrocuted and rebuilt into a cyborg.

Remembering waking up every Saturday morning just to watch this show as a kid and now years later I get to watch it with my kids bringing so many memories
I was always under the impression that travel from Earth to Cybertron took quite a feat of power and energy, not to mention time; but Starscream just casually flies back and forth like he's heading down to the local market to buy a few things, lol. Why is there oxygen in enough quantities on Cybertron for a human to breathe? How did everyone just automatically know where Doctor Arkeville's secret lab was, especially since Starscream himself had to be led there by the good Doctor. Why would Megatron think that simple quicksand would be enough to vanquish the Autobots, when Transformers don't breathe? Cartoons were so much simpler back then.
To be fair, Star Scream used to be an explorer before the war, he said he search half of Earth in a day to look for Skyfire, so I guess traveling between a Cybertron (that was pushed away) to Earth is not impossible for him
In this episode, Cybertron was still pretty close to Earth after what happened in the Ultimate Doom. It eventually drifted away as later episodes show.

Plus, Cybertron being capable of somewhat sustaining human life means within our own solar system Cybertron would be a rather terrible place for humans and neithwr Spike nor Arkevill would have been able to survive, so at least it kinda needs someplace with solar emision just as good to keep humans alive.

Also there were a couple of Joe/Transformers crossovers, the most notable one being in Season 3, "Only Human". Old Snake is Cobra Commander.
If you want to watch GI JOE I'd suggest the 1980s 'toons. Good stuff.

@@alexmac101 It had more to do with the legal entanglements surrounding Jetfire/Skyfire. For episodes featuring him, some animation and lines had to be redone to further separate him from the toy.
There's just something epic about this vintage series.
Starscream literally stole the show with this episode. Epic performance. Its quite obvious that hes both more sinister & evil than Megatron 👏
