Most of us realize that these songs aren't the sacred songs used in ceremonies, but are simply a way of sharing our culture with those who are interested. Mr. Tohonnie does a great job of singing & the dancers are fabulous, but we realize it is entertainment, not a ceremony. Most ceremonies involving the Crown Dancers, who are sacred spiritual beings, are private within the tribe & shared only with outsiders on occasion. Mr. Tohonnie & the dancers do no harm by sharing a glimpse of our culture with the world. Many who aren't Apache love the Crown Dancers & often travel hundreds of miles to see them.
Whenever I get depressed, I come to hear it all... the drums, the singing and watch the dancers. This lifts my spirits, thanks to ALL the singers, dancers and drummers! We need more of you and less whiners!😊👍 Great job people and thank you so much for sharing...from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada!
My husband is white, part Iroquois, has lived in Globe all his life, his best friend growing up was an Apache. Every time the dancers come out he’s in another realm. He still has a painting of the dancers from Ralph Holmes he has had since 1977
