    Damn bro... sucks I been through similar stuff that just make me want to stop building my car... spent 2 days for the inlet it just want lining up then it also pulled the wires on my crankshaft sensor.. got everything to line up and what not. My coilovers took me 4 days because of stubborn bolts then to find out last month my front right strut is leaking oil was frustrating. I got a new strut for free but the oil on the old strut has got dust and dirt in the treads of the locking collars making it almost impossible to take off. The good side is I’m hoping the company will do something to help me out. I’m already just about going to buy new ones and eating the cost of the ones I currently have. But I think this video and your experience is great for RUclips because we can all learn together! I was actually thinking about getting an oil cooler soon and going with a FMIC. • @Smeedia

      Because if the turbo location and intercooler piping it's not really practical on an Sti to mount it up top, the lil lines would also be very long and the routing would get in the way in the bay. But for a WRX it is more practical because you only have 1 charge pipe vs 2 and the oil plate sits on top of the engine va the bottom

      Last weekend I went and did some canyon runs with my buds, the weather was around 83 degrees. my 09 Wrx didn't come with a oil cooler, and my oil temperature went up to 260f, I was like oh God this ain't good, so I order a Perrin oil cooler hopefully it does help with my temperature.

    That system for locking down the Perrin oil cool is stupid and asking for issues later. Sticky tape.. Really?!?!
    That's just lame.
    Personally I would have looked into moving it to another location myself before giving up completely on it. But I do understand the frustration. Sometime you have to adapt and overcome when playing around with aftermarket parts from multiple companies. Obviously the Oil cool would have worked had you not had the FMIC. But even still, it sucks.
    Good luck with your next one!
    And thanks for the video!

    • @Smeedia

      Agreed that the tape is an awful way of mounting. I'll find a way to make it work if no one buys it. I'll just make my own lines and brackets and mount it else where if need be and tha k you!

      @@Smeedia I have seen that type of oil cooler used on cars for a long time. Namely in MGBs, Triumph TR6's and other British cars from the 60s and 70s. When you took that out of the box my first reaction was, "They took that off of an MGB."
      In fact, those oil coolers had handy tabs on the bottom of the cooler where 2 bolts on each side held the cooler down. Super simple. You could easily relocate that cooler to another spot that makes it easier to route the hoses and still get your FMIC all hooked up.
      You may have to drill a couple of new holes in the frame work. But I think that's the fun part of customizing cars!

      When bearing on the car they do help to keep oil temps down. When the oil heats up it thins out so keeping it cooler will help. But I would not suggest getting one unless your tracking the car. For $700 it's not really needed for daily driving

    Not very impressed. Seems like a copout to have the bottom of the cooler doubleside tape to the lower radiator support. It's going to almost guarantee it to break free and bang into your A/C condensor and create a hole. For the price, there should have been a bracket to bolt it to the latch support in the middle of the lower support. Also they should have known it's impossible to tighten the lines to the sandwich plate. Might have been why they said to not torque the plate??

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia 4 года назад +1

      Potentially it was not the best product that I've installed, the instructions made things very difficult to actually tighten down and the 3m tape did not hold at all. When I went to remove it, it easily came off with little force. Been looking into the CSF duel core radiatoe/oil cooler instead.

      I do appreciate the video, I have had many issues like this with different cars. Only thing to do is keep playing with it and make it work or do like you did and take it all back out and start over(usually the best option). Looking forward to the dual core radiator/oil cooler install video.
