    When you say tsunami, do you know you're speaking Japanese? Tsunami is made up of two Japanese words: tsu (harbor) + nami (wave). So tsunami means "harbor wave" in Japanese. Why were they named this? Because these are the kind of giant waves that destroyed harbors.
    These waves don't play nice on the beach for us to splash in. Tsunami waves stretch up way up tall like a giant wall made of water, rushing onto the shore and mowing down everything in their path.
    In this video, we'll learn about the special ways tsunamis are different from ordinary waves. Where do they come from? How fast do they move? Where on Earth are they most common? What can we do to prepare for them?
