    How long did that Generac generator last? Very curious. Did it get the required annual service?

      We have a 2006 Generac 16kw Model still running Strong. Powers 95% of House. Mtce got Ridiculous ($325) in 2020. I Service for $ 45 Annually. Highly Recommended. 👍

      11 years. Coastal salt erosion killed it. Serviced annually

      @@PipeDoctor 11 years is short, but yeah, salt air is murder on equipment.

      The older ones as long as you adjust the valves when supposed too all you really need to do after that imo is change the oil and oil filter spark plugs are overkill on natural gas and air filter maybe once every 2 years.

      $325 is cheap for my area. NYC-Long Island. Most providers here are $600+

      @@PipeDoctor I have a 2016 Kohler 20RESA and I do my own service. I can see why most people hire pro service, though.

    break up the aluminum im sure you can melt that also

    @radar0099 Месяц назад +5

    The problem with smelting copper motor windings is that the insulating varnish may give off cancer causing vapors. At the very least, do it outside and stay up wind. It really isn't the risk for a few bucks.

    • @PipeDoctor
      @PipeDoctor  Месяц назад +1

      Only smelting it outside. There is a coating on the copper. You are 100000% correct. Thanks for looking out!

      I’d have to agree all I know is that when I’m driving around then I see like scrap microwaves on the side of the road. It makes me wanna take them.

    Never really thought highly of generac not a very high quality machine. Kohler seems better to me as a Licensed electrician.

      Do you know what I tend to agree with you one of the first repairs I did on a Generac generator about 10 years ago. I’m following all the steps in the service manual for this is the problem and these are the steps to take I go through all the steps and it turns out to be the battery. Literally, I became a parts changer and I lost all respect for Generac at that point.

      Had a Koehler from 1969 in a house I purchased in 92

      Same difference imo. I Like the generac a little more. I hear the liquid cooled generators are the only well made standbys. Air cooled is garbage.

      That would be nice. I don’t think it’s 75 pounds. I think it’s under.
