I wish that everyone, irrespectively of their view, appreciates the tremendous benefit to be able to sit under this kind of careful-responsible-insightful-original text based-Biblical-loving-teaching for free. May the Lord bless Heiser's legacy and all those who break their necks in a life of study- a worshipful devotion and service unto the Lord.
I really love his statement about charity, because most people really are trying to use the Bible for a proper understanding. We must be charitable. About 20 years ago a well known christian radio host known for answering Bible questions on air, gave his view on the end times. He had been asked on air and in correspondence to give an answer, but he refused, saying he had not finished his studies on the subject to give a definitive answer. He finally gave an answer, one of the views Heiser has explained, but not Dispensational. We had a man on staff in our church who taught Sunday school and was working on his doctorate at a local seminary. I was shocked and most disappointed when he called this brother a heretic simply for not having a dipensational view of the end times. It broke my heart that he could be so divisive on this issue alone and impugn a man and his ministry on this doctrine alone. We must be charitable on non essential doctrines. Yes, Jesus is coming back, but the timing and how are anybody's guess.
Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.
@donhaddix3770 Yes, "near" meant 'near to John', as he was the one receiving the Revelation. You can't stretch anything in the book beyond John's time, there's just way too much temporal imminence displayed throughout. Rev 1:1,3,9,19(about to happen) - Rev 22:6,7,10,12,20 = 1st and last chapter are Bookends!😉
When I've tackled this before I just end up thoroughly confused. This makes it more clear, but I think I'd want a big chart to put it all on to be able to follow it in the future! Speaking of the future, my suspicion is that no prophecy will make sense until it has happened. Why? Because it isn't meant to give us a timetable, it's meant to keep us alert!
Excellent teaching! I have personally seen the complexity of interpreting Eschatology myself as a million piece puzzle 🧩 and when you think you see the picture clearly then you find that some of the key pieces don’t fit to complete the picture you anticipated. I think that God wants us to keep our eyes on Jesus and let Him work it out 👍
Eschatology.. "Divinely" designed and purposed as a mystery. This design and hand print of "God" was, and still abides as a mystery. And for good reason. Just such an example of hidden knowledge may be observed in 1 Corinthians chp. 2 v.v. 4~8. The reasoning behind such is "GOD" has not hidden "Divine" information from us, but for us. Accessing critical information such as the above, requires an approach most within the modern "institutionalized Church" world are not willing to accept. Deuteronomy 29: 29 & Proverbs 25: 2 provides the avenue of approach. 1 Corinthians 2 v.v. 9~ 16 reveals the desire of "God" for those who love "Him," and seek after such knowledge. The hard part here for all who want to gain such access is having to exit the "inside "Institutional Church box." Allegiance to and believing loyalty is a hallmark of the "mind of "Christ."
So much is left unsaid in these conversations. When confronted by the need for a decision, it is necessary to search the Word to find the answer. Thus are we challenged to do that which only the Spirit of God can perform.
It is good there is much more than Daniel and the "weeks" verse, to back up a pre-Tribulation Rapture and the end of the Church Age. One would have to explain away many other passages in both the Old and New Testaments and throw verses out, to get another view to fit.
Every word represents a loss of information. No text can completely and precisely convey a complete idea (of any reasonable complexity) because each word in the text represents some degree of lost information. Its what happens when you move from analog to digital - continuous to discreet. Thats one reason why in some ways poetry conveys certain kinds of ideas better than straight prose.
Chuck Missler's RUclips videos are another source to discover on this subject. He suggested that Revelation 6 to 20 will be for Israel as Christians would have raptured out of the earth. This 7 year period relate to Romans 11:25
@@walterwong1847 I knew Chuck Missler personally and I would not recommend any of his biblical videos. They had their time but they are outdated and many of the assertions are wrong. I loved Chuck, he had no biblical or theological credentials whatso ever. His work filled a space, but now there are dozens of better more capable and qualified people to learn from.
@@walterwong1847 no, you need to learn how to evaluate a person for credentials. Not everyone who calls themselves a teacher is actually someone you should learn from. If someone has no actual textual or language credentials then you should appropriately weight their opinions. If you just gravitate to people you like you'll end up in Cult like situation. Chuck was an honest and sincere guy, but he had a mystical view of scripture and deeply mistrusted people who had degrees and PhDs from peer reviewed programs.
Chuck Missler wrongly founds his theology on the Church being the Bride of Christ. He is not alone on this error which clouds his whole teaching arriving at a doctrine of imminence of the rapture so the church can attend an invitation only marriage supper. This leads to two second comings so the church would have to be raptured in the first second coming imminently and he coming back with the church at the end of the tribulation in the second second coming. Jesus did not teach that.
We have the advantage of hindsight when looking at Daniel 9:24-27. And the "prince to come" whose people destroy the city in verse 26 is not referred to as being anointed. It is clearly referring to 70AD. Verse 27 jumps ahead in time, which happens often in prophetic literature, to the start of Daniel's 70th week.
So many reasons why there will never be a 3rd physical temple and why vs 26 can only be 70AD. Antiochus did not "destroy the city and temple"..he only desecrated it.
Could this play into the discussion of the destruction of temple? 19Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” 20The Jews, therefore, said, “This temple was built [in] forty-six years, and will You raise it up in three days?” 21But He spoke concerning the temple of His body; [From John 2] Consider the ripping of the veil that signified the end of the OT process.
Don't know if this comment is too late, but... Shame he is no longer with us. Great neutral teaching. In the end the Lord will decide which option to take, or perhaps a different one entirely, and these are only to confuse the enemy. Whatever.. come Lord Jesus come.
