Queen of Orishas, mother of Orishas and mother of life. Orisha of the salty seas and the waves, connected to the moon. All this is in the drums and the dance. Beautiful video.

Why are you so uptight? No one is stating that anyone Afro culture is better than the next. This has nothing to do with Afro anything this is a Deity dance in homage to a revered saint Yemaya from the Yoruba religion brought from Africa and nothing else.

Wow. The language used is an adaptation of the old Yoruba languages. The dancing looks like a combination of Yoruba and Igbo dance. It's hauntingly beautiful.

No at all. Actually that's the way of dance of Yemayá Okute (one expression of Yemayá), this way of Yemayá is a brave warrios which uses a sword. There different ways of this Orisha such as Yemayá Assesú, Yemayá Achaba, Yemayá Mayalewo, and each Yemayá have different and special characteristics. In this case, the sword is for Yemayá Okute. I hope this information clarify your questions.
People also pronounce it Yemaya Ogunde, what could be yoruba for ogun=war, de=to arrive - although I have to admit it is difficult retranslating the lukumi-yoruba-dialect of cuba to yoruba, but in this case I would do with this spelling...

Yes you absolute right about but some people are so ignorant that can not realize that they need to get an education to face the true on that.

I have wondered how much language/music/dance/spiritual styles have been preserved and can be recognized by Yoruba people
