Hard as it may be to believe, Namak Haram may have been Amitabh Bachchan's finest performance. Through his passion, he absolutely brings his character to life. Hrishi'da's direction, and the acting of Rajesh Khanna, of course, were of a very high caliber as well. As a number of others have said, movies of this kind just don't come along too often. We should celebrate this film.

The divide between the working class and business class is well portrayed in this movie. It's rare to see such movies nowadays. In many aspects there is still a divide on the basis of class, but it's well masked under the guise of modernity.
Rajesh Khanna is unparalleled. What a performance . No actor before and since had the impact on the audience. 17 super hits in a row. Movies became popular by word of mouth - there was no satellite TV , no OTT, no internet, no 24 hour TV, very limited marketing , hardly any magazines on films, 99% households did not have TV or telephones , very little publicity, no multiplexes , India’s population was 1/2 of today, middle class was a fraction of todays . And in the late 60s and 70s created a craze all over India never seen before and since. Came into the industry on merit after winning a talent hunt competition against some 10,000 participants . (Even AB participated in one of them & lost) Had no Godfather. Could carry a movie without even a heroine ( Ittefaq, Anand , Bawarchi ….) . Didn’t hestitate to do all kind of roles - Dushman, Bawarchi , Red Rose , blockbusters like AAP ki Kasam, Avishkar, ) . Unparalleled charisma and screen presence . A true superstar, so far the only one, really.

This movie was released 48 years ago in 1973. It realistically shows the hard and desperate living conditions that workers had to live under. Can we honestly say that their lives have improved in 2021? Sadly, the living conditions of our workers are where they were in 1973 although India has achieved a lot during the past 48 years. Hence, there is truth in the saying that the more things change, the more they remain the same.

But I didn't understand his importance in the movie I was hoping that he would give some teaching to Rajesh Khanna or maybe there is some back story for him But nothing about him was shown. A classic film featuring perhaps the best ever actors of mainstream Hindi cinema, great direction by the legend Sri Hrishikesh Mukherjee and great job by the entire crew. Such stories are missing from modern Hindi cinema. Meaningless grandeur has replaced simple and emotional story-telling.
I'm an ardent fan of Bachchan Sir He's a versatile genius shown his skills as usual but Rajesh Khanna was also justifisd his role in awesome way last but not the least Raza Murad played terrific role👍👍❤️❤️❤️

Rajesh Khanna was a great actor as well as a superstar. His films always left a message for the viewers. We shall always miss him. Mr Bachhan also did justice to his role. The film is well directed. There is nothing that can be eliminated. An absorbing movie. Worth watching again and again.
