You know this video really did help me in seeing how the GE250 can sound when someone who knows good rock tones plays with it. I bought one and really like it. I'm not a Marshall guy anymore and play mainly a Mesa Boogie Mark V, but it does that modeling pretty good too. I use this for recording as that's basically what I do these days and it gives me more variety when I do want a Marshall or Soldano tone. It's not exactly the same, but pretty close and capable of solid tones. Side by side with my Mesa Mark V head, there is definitely nothing like real tube though in tone and feel. Organic as you say, is a good way to say it.
It's a nice unit and you dialed in a great sound. The amp versus MX units is the basically the same debate people have over tone woods. In a live situation all of these subtle differences aren't noticed by the general public. Whether its an amp or a modeler you are going to be sent through the PA. Now your sound is at the control of the person running the board. At the end of a gig the regular person always compliments the band, the muscians compliment the gear or the player. Most of the bands I've been seeing lately (pre virus) are using MX units going direct to the PA. Can I hear difference? Yes because I play guitar and I'm hyperfocused to what the musicians are using for equipment and how they are using it. My wife on the other hand doesn't have a clue, like most people. I think its great that we have this type of equipment to use and play with. Keep it coming, it will only get better.
@@EugeValovirta230V niice! Looking forward! There is a function with tone capture ( even the guitar tone) ,that would be interesting to hear. P.s. thinking to buy it, instead of Eleven rack.
Great job honing in on a good modeler sound. I agree, in a live situation most of the crowd would not know the difference but you really can't replace the feel of playing a real tube amp. These Mooer units definitely do a great job though. 🤘🤘🤘 Did you try it as an effects unit only into the loop of a real amp? I'm wondering how authentic the effects sound compared to individual pedals.
@@EugeValovirta230V Gotcha. Understood. I still love those old 800's! A real workhorse. The new Cyhra album sounds great. Really liking the sound brotha. Great work! 🤘🤘🤘
If you play with IEM system and you are using a tube amp, you will lose that feel too, it's just a room effect, so for musicians who actually do it that way it could be good
I’ve been using in ears live for years and there’s a big difference what kind of ones I use. For the past 4 years I’ve used high end ones which have been made just for my ears and they work great. I don’t use cabs live anymore and when I did they were on the side of the stage anyway so not much difference to me 😎.
Don't sleep on mooers products. I have the ge200 and 250. They sometimes blow away my line 6 helix in certain situations. And the aux in feature on mooer products is not even featured on helix, fractal or headrush
Hi! On my Custom Shop ESPs it was done at the Japan Custom Shop and some of the Tokais I’ve sanded by myself and some has been done at Musamaailma (ESP & Tokai distributor in Finland) 😊👍
Euge Valovirta amazing! Do you remember the grit/type of sandpaper? I have an Orville LP Custom that I want to sand the black finish off and have a natural plain wood grain face. Just pondering if it’s worth the effort haha.
I don’t remember the exact specs but basically first with a really harsh one to get rid of the lacquer & paint, then with a smooth one and lastly with a really smooth one 😊👍
I think for your it's good for practising on the road and a back up in case your amp's not working. And you might wanna check out the Tone Capture feature. It also has a Trail function for spillover. Anyway, nice sound review there.
Very nice! I really like meaty Marshall tones and this sounded great in my opinion. A real amp might sound even better but, for me, this is definitely "good enough". I'm not too thrilled with Mooer's somewhat shady practices in the past though. Makes me want to boycott them completely, but I have to admit it becomes a bit hard to stay away when the products are actually good.
The Mooer Preamp live was more my speed. I want knobs like an amp, not little screens & buttons. Lately I've gravitated to making tube preamps that I can put in front of an IR and stereo reverb. Great to get a produced sound. But if you want the feel of a cabinet pushing air, nothing but power tubes will do.
It’s been a while since I shot the videos so honestly I don’t remember at all. Let’s just say that I don’t care much about these multi-spaceship-computer-processor-things 😎.
@@EugeValovirta230V What, a 5150? I already had one, not going back. But the MXR 5150 pedal is good for overdrive, not distortion, but the overdrive is 10 times better than all the rat, boss, ibanez 808 bsht, at least to my ears.
More timecodes:
2:46 - Brit 800 Starting preset
3:05 - Amp settings - vol,gain,tone
6:35 - cab
7:05 - Reverb - Room
7:11 - OD - 808
8:37 - basic tone dialed in
8:49 - add Ana Chorus for Zakk Wylde sound
i like your approach to these fully loaded boxes.
It's still about the feel and to have ONE good sound you like.
The rest is all gimmicks.
Thanks! Indeed 👍
Thank you for reviewing this. I have one and I’m glad that you don’t think it sucks.
You’re welcome 😎. Thanks!
Just picked up the GE300, now that model is incredible

No I didn’t ’cos at the time I had only my old 800s at my homestudio and those doesn’t have an effect loop 😎

Can you do a video like this with a headrush

you can connect this into your headphones right?
If I remember correct there is a headphones out 👌. The link is in the desciption.

Oh shiiiii. Came here for the Mooer pedal... Sticking around cause Shining!!!!
I bought one, fought with it for 9 days, at least 5/6 hours a time, sounded naff and sent it back.
Some of us don't really
care how nice it sounds on
a computer, we use guitar
amps, and only need to know
what it sounds like through them.
