Good tutorial but very few cheaper monitors support 30hz refresh rate so it doesnt work for many people but actually there is a even more accurate way to play games on pc on 30fps,smooth as butter with correct frame pacing.Even medium range displays cant work 30hz so this option works for everybody. First of all you need to use two things,MSI afterburner packed together with Riva Tuner, and make some correct adjustments in Nvidia Settings,im not using AMD gpu-s so i would not go to that teritory, this is only for NVIDIA users. 1.Go to Nvidia control panel and open Manage 3d settings tab, then find your game in Program settings and open the window with settings. 2.Find a settings Low Latency Mode and change it to ULTRA. 3.Scroll down further to Vertical Sync settings and change it to FAST. 4.Apply all settings you make and close the Nvidia Control Panel, you are now done with it. 6.Now start MSI Afterburner software and open Nvidia Tuner Statistics Server. 7.You need to add your game into Riva Tuner Server, just click on green button ADD in left-lower part of the screen and choose the game exe. file. 8.Now go look on settings that are located on right part of the screen, find a Framerate Limit and set it to 31,this would limit you framerate to 31fps,which is exactly you need to get for buttery smooth 30 fps experience. Many people trying different methods but this is the only one that works flawless, even if you dont own expensive G-sync display,it would work with normal cheap office monitor with 60hz refresh rate. You probably asking so why exactly 31fps,well this is a pretty straight forward,if you limit framerate to 30fps you would experience lots of random stuttering now and then thats because you split refresh rate exactly by the half, and on PC this is something you need to avoid, that's it,believe me. 9.This is a final part so you just need to do a one more thing, point the FRAMERATE LIMIT text in Riva tuner and click on it,it would change it to FRAMETIME LIMIT,this option would set correct pacing and complete the experience. After you are done with RIva Tuner just minimize the window which would put it on your taskbar by default. So guys this is it,you are done with hard part now only smooth sailing! You can even play with mouse and keyboard on that settings,it would be very nice and pleasurable, but if you own a good controler it would be even better. 30fps is from the start meant to be played with controler,im personally played many, many games with this settings and experience is console like without doubt. Yea some people own super expensive gaming rigs with rtx 4090 and i9 12900k,which can deliver 60fps on 4k in any game,it is amazing but many people dont have money for that, and if you own medium gaming rig few years old you would find yourself struggling with playing newest games on 60fps,and this tutorial is for you. It's always better to play 30fps smooth then playing games with fps all over the place, with stuttering and other bugs. I hope that helps guys if you have any other question feel free to ask.
Thanks for the detailed instructions👍 Isn't it the case that you should only use FASTSYNC if the FPS are at least twice as high as the monitor refreshrate?
Man this is HUGE, thank you. The ENTIRE disconnect between TV gamers and PC gamers comes down to 60hz monitors making 30 fps look worse than they should by insterting a black frame in between every frame, making it stuttery. Hell I remember when I had a PS4 Pro and a huge 4K HDR TV. I played stuff way more demanding than my current pc can handle and my experience was objectively better. Now thanks to you I am having a blast. There are games that I can run at 60 but I prefer running at 30. It's true, it DOES look more cinematic, some animations gain depth, it's hard to describe. I guess it's similar to what happened with 48 fps movies.
I agree, 30fps just has a totally different feel. It also helps that I can crank up the graphics settings with a lower framerate target. Makes story games so much more immersive and cinematic.
The reason for the the animations gaining depth was described by Charalanahzard on youtube. She's a game dev at Sony Santa Monica, writer to be more specific. But she was saying that almost everything is animated at 30fps and 60fps is just the computer interpolating every other frame which causes a subtle, but noticeable drop in animation quality. When you're playing a game at 30fps, you're seeing it specifically how the devs animated it.
30 fps is the sweet spot for GTX 1650. Way better than a variable framerate. I think this may work perfectly to run Horizon Zero Dawn at Ultra Setting capped at 30 fps
@Arslan Amir you can do it only if your laptop's screen supports low refresh rates(there's multiple of them, I forgot how they called). Mine is not, so it causes very scary artifacts all over the screen when I use created 30Hz resolution in CRU. Actually, it is saying what are the minimum rates of your monitor in the CRU, so don't go below them and you should be ok(but still, personally I don't recommend you to do that because you can damage your screen or simply will be unable to revert settings when your screen will be covered in artifacts). Instead of that, you better lock fps in RTSS + NVCP + turn on "adaptive half of the frame rate" vsync for your game in NVCP. And you will get the smoothest 30 fps you could get. Now you need to take a gamepad and sit as far as you can from your laptop to actually be able to enjoy 30fps. (I am not very good at English)
Best method i find soo far is to use 1/2 half refresh rate Vsync in nvidia inspector which locks the game to half refresh rate without needing to change the refresh rate. Me personally i use custom resolution to overclock 60hz monitor to 70hz than use nvidia inspector to set Vsync to 1/2 refresh rate which acts like half refresh rate and locks vsync to 35 fps, than after that use Rtss to lock fps to 34.90 to eliminate input lag from Vsync. You get better performance than consoles 30fps.

@@havishjupudi1745 in Nvidia inspector you can set the Vsync to 1/2 , 1/3 or 1/4 respectively. On your 120hertz screen if you want 30fps you can set the Vsync to 1/4 , it will become 30hz in game. Be sure to lock the fps using rivatuner to 29.90 when using this method to mitigate input lag. I would however advice you to use 1/3 vsync to get 40hz refresh in games and lock fps using rivatuner to 39.90. 40hz is miles better and smoother than 30hz mode.
I actually did similar when I tried to maxed out A Plague Tale Requiem on my RTX 3080Ti Laptop but CPU gets a bit too hot for my liking so I limited it to 30 fps now I can play it maxed out without crazy stuttering and big frame rate drops. 60 fps are preferable but not needed in this type of graphics intensive slow paced stealth survival action game 30 fps is still very playable. This tip of course will also comes in handy as 3000 series card will be in the same position as 1650 in a year or two from now probably faster with games like A Plague Tale Requiem starts to tank even 3070.
I'm playing Transformers War for Cybertron and it is locked to 30fps by default, no option for higher fps. The frame pacing is perfect. I played console games on PS2, Wii U, Switch, and 3DS and games on those consoles tend to drop fps. 40fps is the sweet spot. Fps fluctuation is not too bad for me because I have been playing on PC like that for over a decade. The only bad thing is half refresh rate when games run at 60fps and slight fps drop makes them run at 30fps.
You don't even realise this but the higher the sensitivity the game is then the less like the game is to be smooth on controller. If you have a slightly lower sensitivity then you can't move your camera as much and if you can't move your camera around as much it tricks the brain into thinking that the game feels smoother because it actually does.
Guide to smooth gaming below 60fps: 1- make a refresh rate (from 30 to 55) based on your needs 2- turn on vsync 3- use riva tuner statistics server to lock fps to the target fps to get consistent frame rate and frame times 4- play with a controller (optional) 5-turn on motion blur (optional) Hope this helps
Depends on the monitor. AOC Hero 27 IPS for example, doesn't support hz blelow 50hz. So, that sucks... in my case. And my notebook with a 1650, also doesn't support this refresh rate... Great video! 🤘
No, on Riva to actually get console 30 fps you need to have an 60hz monitor and use the scanline sync 1/2 instead of just limiting the fps to 30. For that you need to know what scanline sync value you need to not get screen tearings (-30 always worked for me), the game needs to be running on full screen (borderless won't work) and you must disable any other source of vsync. This is in fact the only way I know to get the same smooth 30fps from the video on AMD cards.
I was just reading about this online and wanted to check for some RUclips videos. And there we go, Karan has a video. 🎉 Seriously, how does this look damn better than the inconsistent 60fps? So my worry about gtx1650 not good for new games are gone? (Wtf, cyberpunk looks good too?) I should definitely try this tomorrow.
do you suggest making budget build with gtx 1650 in 2022! i think it's weak & old and not future proof i rather save money until prices go down & get rtx 3050 or 3060 + i5 12400f with 16gb ram 3200
My pc has no issues going beyond 60fps even in games like rdr2 but I did try to play boarderlands 3 at 30fps and it was bad because of the 15fps 1% lows, same with Witcher, so that's interesting to see smooth 30fps like this

you just have to adapt but in a few days it will be the same, since I started playing at 30 even though my pc can run at more than 60 I realized that 60 is only marketing, it does not affect your long-term performance
GTX 1650 is a good graphics card, but using it at 100% it heats up a lot, reaching over 70ºC even playing RDR2 at a stable 30 fps, I imagine that including a good cooling system extends the useful life of this nice graphics card.
Even with freesync display It is way smoother than 120hz or 60hz with 30fps cap. I have 144hz freesync monitor, and it should be perfect on 144hz with 30fps cap, or for 60fps gameplay to cap on 60, but no. For 60fps gameplay with freesync it is good on 144hz, but it's better with 120hz, and it's flawless-lifelike with 60hz. I don't know why? Vsync on in all cases. Maybe the problem is with mouse movement on different refresh rates, because only on same hz/fps value is perfectly smooth.
ah... now I see how consoles can maintain consistent framerates. It's because they don't use GPU power at 100% capacity all the time. They left some around 30% in case certain moments in the game require more power. The more you know! Btw, can you test these same settings for Elden Ring as well or is the game still have stutter issues for the PC version?
I wonder if I can lock Vsync to 30 and turn on motion blur and set other settings to high and it will work in other games as well? Can it be played smooth in games that require a better system. Thanks for video.
What about setting it like PS4 (45fps-ish)?? While it is smooth, its kinda weird to see the performance here... But it's very educational, thanks anyway.
I have i5 4th gen (4590) and gt 730 gpu , so want to upgrade my graphics card (no budget for cpu rn) . Gaming performance is bad with gt 730. Should I go for gtx 1650 or some other card?
What cable do you use? I tried this on my Samsung monitor with Radeon 6500 xt (HDMI) and it sad 1920x1080 30hz is not the optimal Mode than it reset itself to 60 hz Also I cannot enable it on GTX 1050 same message.
Hi, a quick question! In Nvidia control panel, I can't create the custom resolution because when I try to do it, it says "Duplicate resolution, 1920:1080 at 30hz already exists". However, in usual resolution settings in windows (display settings/advanced display settings), it lets me set the display refresh rate to 30hz by itself, without having to do anything in the Nvidia control panel. I guess that will do the same result, that it's basically the same thing? Thanks in advance!
You can do it with RX 570 too 'cause it's a bit better than 1650, but not so much. Amd's more difficult to do that, but if you have half vsync or 30hz monitor, just be happy :)
i have a laptop 1650, so i dont have the extra options other than '3D settings' tab/dropdown in nvidia control panel. So to get constant 30fps can i set 'max frame rate' in program settings in control panel?? And turn motion blur or? Basically what are the only 2 requirements to get 30fps lock?

Use rivaturner statistics server and select scanline sync x/2. To get rid of screen tearing u should write -250 or -100 value depending on the tear location. Then disable any vsync in games and u r good to go. I am playing like this in my laptop.

The reason behind this is that not all LED monitors support below 50hz For this trick you need a LED tv Get a 32inch LED TV. It will switch to 30hz due to its support to NTS and PAL tV formats. I have four LED MONITORS at home. Two are 19 inch LED monitors of Asus and HP. One 24 inch HP with HDMI. One Samsung 22 inch led monitor. None support 30hz. But i tried this on my Samsung 32 inch TV. tryied to keep ghost of tsushim,a , runinf at 60 (frame generation is buggy as hell) , came across some dudes explaining vsync, so i put 50hz on my monitor and nvidia adaptive vsync in control panel, you cant tell the diference against 60 , vsync and monitor refresh rate are the key to get -60 smooth games.

Be sure to lock the fps using rivatuner to 29.90 when using this method to mitigate input lag. I would however advice you to use 1/3 vsync to get 40hz refresh in games and lock fps using rivatuner to 39.90. 40hz is miles better and smoother than 30hz mode.
@@snake2106 Thanks..appreciate your quick response
Plague Tale Requiem is just bad optimized, youre 3080Ti is gonna be safe over 5 years if they optimize there games better.
@@Shadowblade667 I hope so the game still stutters badly for me the only way to minimize that is to locked it at 30 fps.
Based TLOU2 desktop background
I'm playing Transformers War for Cybertron and it is locked to 30fps by default, no option for higher fps. The frame pacing is perfect. I played console games on PS2, Wii U, Switch, and 3DS and games on those consoles tend to drop fps. 40fps is the sweet spot. Fps fluctuation is not too bad for me because I have been playing on PC like that for over a decade. The only bad thing is half refresh rate when games run at 60fps and slight fps drop makes them run at 30fps.
it is very important to increase the controller sensitivity to max in any game when play at 30fps...slow response is the big problem with 30fps
You don't even realise this but the higher the sensitivity the game is then the less like the game is to be smooth on controller. If you have a slightly lower sensitivity then you can't move your camera as much and if you can't move your camera around as much it tricks the brain into thinking that the game feels smoother because it actually does.
Great to the point video no clickbait ♥️Can you do something for AMD GPUs please....
This is just way better, Helpful video😊

Guide to smooth gaming below 60fps:
1- make a refresh rate (from 30 to 55) based on your needs
2- turn on vsync
3- use riva tuner statistics server to lock fps to the target fps to get consistent frame rate and frame times
4- play with a controller (optional)
5-turn on motion blur (optional)
Hope this helps
you can lock the fps with nvidia container too, it's easier
It's looking good on 3rd person view/shooter games. FPS games seems best at 60Hz refresh rates and above.
Depends on the monitor. AOC Hero 27 IPS for example, doesn't support hz blelow 50hz. So, that sucks... in my case. And my notebook with a 1650, also doesn't support this refresh rate... Great video! 🤘
Additionally you can cap 30 fps with Riva tuner aswell, frametime will be even more consistent.
no, that trick wont give smooth feel. 30fps on 60hz screen feels laggy u need 30hz if you want smooth framerates just like consoles !!
its like half v sync. less smoothness ans sometimes may drop to 20s
@@KaranBenchmarks the warning from NVIDIA, is it safe?
No, on Riva to actually get console 30 fps you need to have an 60hz monitor and use the scanline sync 1/2 instead of just limiting the fps to 30. For that you need to know what scanline sync value you need to not get screen tearings (-30 always worked for me), the game needs to be running on full screen (borderless won't work) and you must disable any other source of vsync. This is in fact the only way I know to get the same smooth 30fps from the video on AMD cards.
@@maelstrom7063 what about 144hz ?
I was just reading about this online and wanted to check for some RUclips videos. And there we go, Karan has a video. 🎉
Seriously, how does this look damn better than the inconsistent 60fps? So my worry about gtx1650 not good for new games are gone? (Wtf, cyberpunk looks good too?)
I should definitely try this tomorrow.
do you suggest making budget build with gtx 1650 in 2022! i think it's weak & old and not future proof i rather save money until prices go down & get rtx 3050 or 3060 + i5 12400f with 16gb ram 3200
Great video karan✅
Bro RTSS or this method....which one is good for smooth 30fps?
if you have dpi mouse customiser, set it to 1200 dpi, it will help the buttery silky smooth
My pc has no issues going beyond 60fps even in games like rdr2 but I did try to play boarderlands 3 at 30fps and it was bad because of the 15fps 1% lows, same with Witcher, so that's interesting to see smooth 30fps like this

Getting constant 30fps on TPP games for this card is ❤️. However, FPP games need atleast 60fps or close to 60fps for better playable experience.
you just have to adapt but in a few days it will be the same, since I started playing at 30 even though my pc can run at more than 60 I realized that 60 is only marketing, it does not affect your long-term performance
When playing rdr2, I'd enable mouse smoothing and motion blur to even further smooth gameplay.

GTX 1650 is a good graphics card, but using it at 100% it heats up a lot, reaching over 70ºC even playing RDR2 at a stable 30 fps, I imagine that including a good cooling system extends the useful life of this nice graphics card.
What monitor did you use to support 30hz ? And what type of cable ?
Bro ru playing with a mouse or controller?
he is using mouse and keyboard u can clearly see in cyberounk
Even with freesync display It is way smoother than 120hz or 60hz with 30fps cap.
I have 144hz freesync monitor, and it should be perfect on 144hz with 30fps cap, or for 60fps gameplay to cap on 60, but no.
For 60fps gameplay with freesync it is good on 144hz, but it's better with 120hz, and it's flawless-lifelike with 60hz. I don't know why?
Vsync on in all cases.
Maybe the problem is with mouse movement on different refresh rates, because only on same hz/fps value is perfectly smooth.
but why? most of those games can have smooth 60 fps lowering some settings with that 1650, 30 fps make you feel a lot of input lag
its not for u

ah... now I see how consoles can maintain consistent framerates. It's because they don't use GPU power at 100% capacity all the time. They left some around 30% in case certain moments in the game require more power. The more you know!
Btw, can you test these same settings for Elden Ring as well or is the game still have stutter issues for the PC version?
stutters are still there
Oh, 1 more thing I want to ask. If the monitor have Freesync / G-Sync feature, should the V-Sync still be turned on? If yes, why?
no use g-sync
@@KaranBenchmarks I see, so turn off v-sync for g-sync or freesync monitors. Got it 👍.

What about setting it like PS4 (45fps-ish)?? While it is smooth, its kinda weird to see the performance here...

If your monitor use HDMI Cable, yes support down refresh rate to 30 hz, how about dp cable, not supported
We want more like this,man!!
You can do it with RX 570 too 'cause it's a bit better than 1650, but not so much. Amd's more difficult to do that, but if you have half vsync or 30hz monitor, just be happy :)
If I have a native 30hz monitor, do I need to turn vsync on?
Yes, otherwise you'll have tearing@@i-frames816

There are two sollutions...
Update your drivers.
Desactivate v sync
And one more thing, make shore that u dont pass your vram utilization!
I'm on a RTX 3060 laptop and i play 30 fps for new games on a 4k TV in 2k/4k resolution on max graphics.
Will this method be better than Nvidia Inspector's 1/2 refresh rate vsync?
I know the video is old but I wanted to know why the game looks more fluid on the laptop screen than on my TV that I use to play the game? even at 30 fps
Can you bring a solution for people who don't have display settings on the nvidia control panel dur to two display cards??
Use rivaturner statistics server and select scanline sync x/2. To get rid of screen tearing u should write -250 or -100 value depending on the tear location. Then disable any vsync in games and u r good to go. I am playing like this in my laptop.

I can only change it to 50 .
If you have any solution please tell me . I have searched for this thing about 3 months
Same with me i cant change to 30 hz, maybe my device is laptop not monitor. 😅
The reason behind this is that not all LED monitors support below 50hz
For this trick you need a LED tv
Get a 32inch LED TV. It will switch to 30hz due to its support to NTS and PAL tV formats. I have four LED MONITORS at home. Two are 19 inch LED monitors of Asus and HP. One 24 inch HP with HDMI. One Samsung 22 inch led monitor. None support 30hz.
