I first listened to a song ( I am not throwing away my shot) from this at my brothers 3rd grade concert.. 5 yrs later,i came across it again from my fourth grade classmate who was talking about seeing this musical live, and my teacher told us about this and how it was on Disney. Later that day, i was watching that with my brother and we both fell in love with it. A year later, my brother and I were total geeks about this, and for my birthday, my parents got us tickets to see it live on broadway. This musical got me through the hard times. It has all the emotions. Happiness, betrayal, anger, and sadness. I LOVE Hamilton!❤😊
All of these songs are just amazing. However, they set the tone with the first one. The first song always sets the tone for the rest of the play. And they killed it.
this musical is literally an annual interest for me. i come back to it every spring and summer, i physically cant stop myself from coming back to this masterpiece 😭 ive been in the fandom for 4 years now, my god
“Hey, are you coming to our date??” “I’m listening to the entire Hamilton musical” “Oh.. how’s the movie?” “I’m *listening* to the entire Hamilton musical”
I just saw Hamilton for the first time on Disney plus today (idk why it took me 3 years to finally watch it and I have been wanting to watch it 4 a while) and it is amazing
Don't feel bad. I saw it for the first time in August. Then I watched it on Disney. I will say it took me so long to watch because people would try and sell it to me by saying they "rap" -_-
You're not alone. I refused to look at it back in middle school because it was getting so much attention that it had the same effect as an overplayed song on the radio. I really wish I did look at it though, I'm a few years too late to see the og cast :/
*For any new fans wondering where Laurens' Interlude is:* it doesnt count as a proper song (unfortunately) hence why its called 'interlude'. Its simply just a passage for in between Dear Theodosia and Non-Stop.
My mom was practicing for her citizenship test and asked for help with historic questions and I never really payed attention in history but I was able to answer several because of this musical 😂
Funny story, I used to do morning announcements in eighth grade, when I was absolutely OBSESSED with Hamilton. (I still am, but not AS much). So part of the morning announcements was that the announcement person would pick out an inspirational quote and read it over the PA system along with the announcements to the WHOLE SCHOOL every morning. One day, I decided to make my quote of the day "I am the one thing in life I can control." When I got back to class, my bff just shook her head at me. I did like three more Hamilton quotes for quote of the day through my month-long term as Announcement Person. For those curious, the quotes that I can remember doing were "People attribute my success to my genius, but the only genius I know is hard work." (This quote wasn't in the musical, but the real Alexander Hamilton said it), "I am inimitable, I am an original.", and "A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything."
I saw this in London last week. Believe me, seeing it in the flesh is a million times better than listening to it. My eyes and ears were overwhelmed. So much emotion that you could cut it with a knife, every type of emotion that you can imagine. At times there was a wall of sound, with superb harmonies, that was overwhelming. Well done the fantastic cast.
what a wonderful show. I was not expecting to love this musical as much as I did. I think my favourites are Alexander Hamilton, My Shot, Satisfied, Wait For It, and Stay Alive. Just magnificently crafted lyrics too. Lin-Manuel Miranda is a musical genius.
Lin-manuel miranda: "at the beginning i just filled in for Hamilton because i knew no one could remember all of that" Me in my room at 3 in the morning performing a whole 2 hour 30 one woman show without a single mistake: 🤭🥴
Do I like politics? No. Have I ever had a care for history before watching this musical last july? No. Have I ever watched a musical before this one? No. Can I sing all of this by myself in one sitting and do I know every single lyric by heart? Yes.
Honestly I hadn't listened to Hamilton in a WHILE. Coming back to it feels so good tbh!! especially using it as background audio for my assignments now that I'm in my career instead of being a middle schooler like I was when this came out, man time sure is crazy
I keep being dragged by my ankles! Re-reading biographies, letters, rewatching series and alike,, The First American Revolution is rather interesting, been looping around it since Turn; Washington's spies in 2014. ^_^"
I'm listening to this with my 7-year-old sister and we were at the part in History Has its Eyes on You where Washington says "I was younger than you are now when I was given my first command." And my sister was like: What were you, five? 💀
the first time i learned about hamilton i was in 6th grade, lyric pranking my friend's older brother. then, in 8th grade, i was taking choir, and we did a mix of the soundtrack for our spring concert. only now, as a soon-to-be junior in high school, am i finally listening to the full soundtrack. wow edit: i'm also working on a cosplay right now but i keep standing up to sing and dance along with the songs i know edit 2: you could technically count the violin riff followed by "how does hamilton, a _____" as a leitmotif! i think that's really neat :) edit 3: almost 300 years and still nobody's told jefferson what he missed 😔
sameee I got tickets for Christmas and I'm going with my absolutely amazing equally Hamilton obsessed brothers who got the tickets!!! We're going in London though
We all have to admit it if our teacher asked us to write one page on Alexander Hamilton and everyone around him all fans would show up the next day with 50 pages that were the lyrics to every single song the teacher would have fun correcting that 😂😂😂
You will never forget his name. Hamilton fangirling over Burr and bar boys. Iconic. Orphan. Rap. More Rounds. Girl power! The opposite of Helpless. The opposite of Burn. The best day of Jefferson’s life. HAMILTON. JUST STOP. Hamilton roasting Samuel Seabury for an entire song. King George III being an epic comic relief. The Most Depressing Song In The Universe. Heck yeah it was, Burr. Burr giving epic dad vibes. Burr wants to be here.
Me personally, your obedient servant is not one of the best songs. I would definitely put either burn, satisfied, or guns and ships up there, but overall a very respectable list
I watched Hamilton bc my friends asked (forced) me to. Even if your not a big fan of musicals, Hamilton is IT. Happy I did watch it! I love the songs so much.

All of these songs are just amazing.
However, they set the tone with the first one.
The first song always sets the tone for the rest of the play.
And they killed it.

You're not alone. I refused to look at it back in middle school because it was getting so much attention that it had the same effect as an overplayed song on the radio. I really wish I did look at it though, I'm a few years too late to see the og cast :/
lastest reply is 6 months ago and I just watched it and I'm upset I didn't watch it earlier, guess I'm real late to the pary.
*For any new fans wondering where Laurens' Interlude is:* it doesnt count as a proper song (unfortunately) hence why its called 'interlude'. Its simply just a passage for in between Dear Theodosia and Non-Stop.

Feels like Hamilton talks while the others sing, granted I'm thinking about this in You Obedient Servant when Burr's singing goes off the deep end
