all of these comments are the epitome of uncultured and unaware.. none of y'all know NOTHING about art/fashion, camp, blurred lines and deeper messages. its one thing to not really rock with someones vision because you don't understand it, but these comments are exactly why Pyer is pivotal and Kerb is the goat.. everyone is expecting the ideal European non diverse exclusion that "real" haute couture gives and Pyer is distinctively opposite
The only way to compete with the brilliance of the current euro supremacy in couture is to develop something that is just as great, this collection is simply not a great example of it.
@@acreatedhuman8655 this is actually completely wrong... common household haute couture designers that we know and love and are familiar with were never created with the intent to be like everyone else. Fendi is nothing like Louis Vuitton, Bottega is nothing like Dior, and so on just the same way that Pyer Moss is nothing like any brand we've seen before and THATS what makes it great. from the concepts, ideas, and messages to the very fabric its made with is what makes it different, anything else is completely subjective to the consumer and that's okay, but to try and compare any brand and try and make it synonymous with this brand and to fit idiosyncrasies of euro centric haute couture (to which Pyer Moss is the complete opposite) to this brand especially based off consumer opinion is just not correct
@@ashlimorgan This could have been more beautifully made, instead of being too literal which rather made it look like a costume collection than a couture one. One of the difficult things to do in Haute Couture is to separate costume and couture. The line is fragile that's why it takes skills to make it happen. However, Pyer Moss was not the first designer who had ever failed the test. There were so many more designers. As you mentioned Camp, you can also take a look at all the couture designs at the Camp Met Gala. Some did the right choice without being a costume while some did not. Correct that Hautre Couture is to be different but not every difference is haute couture.
@@brokebutexpensive not everything is meant to rub everyone the right way... fashion/art is and always will be subjective to the artist as well as the consumer and the goal Kirby has always had in mind when it comes to Pyer Moss is to disrupt the normal or what's "traditional" haute couture.. again, most may not be in favor of this particular collection, but those that are, understand his stance on "not fitting in" and creating pieces that stray away from what we're typically used to seeing. For example, Met Gala camp is something that we see as a typical idea of what Camp should exemplify and numerous "traditional" haute couture designers have made pieces that of course are not meant to actually be worn as an everyday piece, however with Pyer Kirby is taking the idea as well as essence of camp in this scenario and taking it a step further to promote whatever message he wants to portray at that time, and this of which is his own display of haute couture, which again is totally subjective to him the designer, as well as the viewers/consumer

Nothing says oppression like an invitation to show your work at Haute Couture Week, the most privileged and exclusive club in fashion world. 🙄 So delusional, so dishonest.
i’m confused about your comment.. what’s wrong with the show being held at this particular club? in order to get recognition, they need an audience. if it’s a POPULAR club, why not take the opportunity to showcase black inventions.. where else did you want them to hold the show at?
@@alanikairyu8696 I have nothing against his participation in haute couture week. I'm just pointing out his dishonesty. Pretending to be a victim while showing your work at the most prestigious and exclusive fashion event is ridiculous. What kind of 'liberation' does he need?! This is not what oppression looks like. Just show your collection like everyone else, spare us the lectures. If he wants to fight real oppression, he should pay attention to the gross violations of human rights in China, the Middle East, etc.
@@alexdaw7310 “pretending to be victim” so victims of police brutality were pretending? is racial injustice, racial inequality, racism, etc are fallacies? it’s not ridiculous.. if you want to make a show about black inventions, then you have to include black history. “real oppression,” i’ll take it as you’re a non-black person because black people, as well as other poc, are most definitely oppressed; they’re minorities, and marginalized for a reason. why would he talk about issues that don’t relate to black inventions and black history? this is about black people.
@@alexdaw7310 it’s evident that the message is to uplift and embrace black people, culture, and our history. i still can’t get over the fact that you said he needs to focus on “real oppression,” like when has it ever been fake😩 what are you trying to say? this is about BLACK people, once again. the issue in china has nothing to do with black people, it’s about human rights violations against turkic muslims.. as for the middle east, that doesn’t involve black people either so???
@@alanikairyu8696 Uplifting black people by perpetuating victim mentality? Victim mentality demoralises people, creates helplessness and dependecy on others. How can it be helpful? Representatives of oppressed groups cannot become president, VP, defence secretary, influential celebrities, millioners, billioners, etc., etc., and they certainly can not be chosen to participate in the most prestigious fashion events in truly oppressive societies (like ones in China and the Middle East). And oppressive societies do not try to uplift oppressed groups by practicing affirmative action and quotas. They, you know, oppress these groups instead by significantly limiting their freedoms, their rights, and so on. Police brutality is not a problem of particular race. Data clearly shows that number of unarmed Blacks and unarmed Whites killed by police is comparable. But nobody cares about cases with unarmed Whites, nobody riots over them, media does not spin these stories into national scandal.

That was a lot ! like everything. A flip flop, refrigerator and a Black impowerment speech. I respect the work effort, but I dont think Pyer was ready for the Haute Couture. Then The constant repeating of gang, gang, gang, twerk? if that is what he was saying? I am looking forward to seeing where he takes it in the next collection.
Who is the artist rapping ?

This is Everything Epic, so proud of him 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Well......that was a lot! To much as a matter of fact, the props overwhelmed the models and distracted from what might have been interesting garments. The rapper the dancers, the chorus it was like 3 different shows going on at once, w/3 different themes. Liken it to having the radio/and the t.v and record player on all spewing separate and unequal content !!!LOL
Love ❤️

I’ll stick to true Haute Couture that is Paris Haute Couture....
Awful concepts do not make Couture.
When laziness have popularity and money
YEAH BOY YOU AINT RICH IF YOU AINT LAZY!!!
I'd like this to be an argument and not a discussion. I'm interested in what you think about my opinion and don't want to convince you that my opinion is right:)
I think that you forget some things about this right here:
Fashion is art. Fashion is a way to express who you are and what you want to say.
Though. not everyone sees fashion in the same way. There are different styles and different favours and, you know, maybe I'm wrong and just a kind-hearted person believing in the best of everyone but Myer Moss and the team behind the label are trained staff, who have all studied fashion design and you know if they wanted to make a creamy dress with the background story of the invention of the peanutbutter, instead of putting a fabric jar on a persons body, THEY WOULD. High fashion designers aren't lazy, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to study fashion and become so well known.
So still: fashion is art. And with this collection they're honoring black peoples' inventions. If you don't like the way they did so, then that's something about your style.
Now tell me isn't this correct?

A Horned ceremony.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
wtf is going on ?????
What is happening 😶
I appreciate the black history. The speech and dancers and whatever set the mood now let the design do all the work. The cheesy Halloween costumes and the traffic lights and peanut butter jar was sad.
COUTURE !!!!! hahaha it is to laugh....you can't design from a frame of reference that you have no relationship with !!! If you dont have a relationship with couture, or it's life style than you have an animated concept of what you may think it is. And this collection l feel is that result of a long distance relationship.
Sista was preaching a word baby it pieces through my soul!!
Ridiculousness from start to finish.

What a shockingly unfortunate lost opportunity for American Fashion.......a lot of effort wasted!
Sooo, party city couture......

Cringe Level 9999
This has to be the WORST “fashion” show in History…….none of this would be editorial worthy unless Ebony Magazine did a “black designer” edition….even then, you could find more talented designers. This whole show is a joke and shows they have no idea about Hauté Couture
Pyer is a EXTREMELY talented designer first of all. The message was clear uplifting and groundbreaking however this collection was not his best.
@@jnigelm you are only as good as your last collection……
@@fumaclan08 I don’t agree .That’s NOT a TRUE. That’s a very general narrow minded statement created by the press which the public throws around.
@@jnigelm surrrrrrre……yet this “collection” did not receive rave reviews
@@fumaclan08 As it deserves, but what’s is YOUR point?
That his current “meh” collection erases all his previous brilliant body work?
Fuck what the reviews say for second. Do you think he’s is a goons designer bc THIS collection wasn’t that great?
I’m not sure what everyone thinks but I’m interpreting this show as poking the bear. Too black? Lemme show you black. Too ethnic? Lemme show you ethnic. Feels like he’s making a mockery. I fuck with it tbh. Couture has been boring. This is a nice change, for me at least.
I got something in my eye 🥺✨ Amazing representation of black excellence

Too much loudness over shadow the art of fashion
Really really disappointed in this show
32 minutes of bullshit.
all of these comments are the epitome of uncultured and unaware.. none of y'all know NOTHING about art/fashion, camp, blurred lines and deeper messages. its one thing to not really rock with someones vision because you don't understand it, but these comments are exactly why Pyer is pivotal and Kerb is the goat.. everyone is expecting the ideal European non diverse exclusion that "real" haute couture gives and Pyer is distinctively opposite
😂😂😂
This is a mess. I honestly liked the choir collection, but it felt like the best he could do. Which isn't a good sign so early in your career.
The gimmick of just doing collections when he wants and doing couture now - only serves the purpose of minimizing the opportunities to critique the work which is quick uninspired and borderline exploitative.
The first collection he did with those bullet holes was tacky, to me. It got him so much press along with other connections that now he has the coin to so this.
And peanut butter - Moschino wanna be - costume irony - poorly executed - as a nod to our grandparents?
I'd love to know what his inspirations would like when they're not exploiting black pain or blackness / period.
Sad
RIDICULO
